First do they even have a welfare system in Japan? After reading some manga recently I've begun to wonder about it. I mean in some of them it's like whoa, that doesn't happen in America as far as I know. However, it could just be that the manga-ka's just like to leave the welfare system out of the story so things can be more dramatic. I know that I've read some American stuff like that. Anybody have any ideas, suggestions, or even actually knows the answer?

Most industrialized countries in the world have welfare programs for their citizens. The US is just a sorry nation.
Japan's welfare system is extremely complex. You should probably consult the Wiki article on it.

Would you also know where I could find info. about their laws and such? I'm just real curious about some things. Also any other related topic information would be good. Thanx again! wink

P.S. So the weird situations that happen in manga are just the manga-ka's fantasies huh?
