rstrategos If you swear couldn't that be considered a god, or mabye an idol? The Ten Commandments deals with both of those. Actually Jesus isn't sinless. Remember he took on all of our sins. But while he lived on this earth he lived a sinless life. Personally I think that swearing should only be used by people that aren't intelligent enough to think of a more intelligent word. I consider that a slight against my intelegence. but could you please elaborate on your theory of swearing refering to idols or false gods?

David 16:21 "You should not say cuss words. If you hear someone use those words you should wash their mouth out with soap, and wash your ears with the other end of the bar."
Have fun looking that one up.
Anyway, cussing sounds rude, but I guess the Bible doesn't say anything about being rude does it?
Hezekiah 15:23 "Don't be rude"
...maybe I should stop that?
As for me, I won't cuss. The verse "Don't let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth" or whatever it says keeps me from it. I am not saying I think cussing is a sin, but it is better safe than sorry, no?

I'm not sure if cussing should realy be something you should worry about. i mean what with the insane blasphemous mocking of the bible you just finished doing. personaly i think that all words are a gift from God and it's just up to us to know when where and how to use them effectively.

That's cool, like I said, I don't think it is a sin, but better safe than sorry. Also, if you didn't notice from earlier post, people tend to think people that cuss are dumb. Come to think of it, that is not entirely true. People think people who cuss are dumb, usually only when they are offended by it, which is not all the time. I could be wrong now, but I don't think so (lol Monk theme song). It doesn't sound proper, I must be proper. Pinkies up. cheese_whine cheese and wine was the fanciest emote I could find. Ninjas are fancy! ninja

Alright I just have to make sure you know. I was being sarcastic with the proper thing. I try to be respectable, but proper? I am perfectly proper in my own mind. Maybe not my grandparent's church, but I am proper.

I walked into the biggest and oldest catholic church in town for a funeral with a mowhawk. people were still casting dissapproving looks at me as i carried my grandmother's casket. i was there looking as respectable as i could and still people didn't like it. so from then on i decided ******** people i'll do as i feel is right.

I think Christians can be really judgmental sometimes. However, do you really think God would want you to say that stuff? It doesn't make you look smart, nor does it make you look cool.

Sakura_Chan133 I think Christians can be really judgmental sometimes. However, do you really think God would want you to say that stuff? It doesn't make you look smart, nor does it make you look cool. However it can be used quite intelegently. see i know that every one has the pre-concieved notions of those who swear being unintelegent. but hey i'm an extremely smart and articulate human being. thus i choose any word out of my expansive vocabulary that i think would help make a point. or truly convey my feeling best. if that word happens to be s**t, piss ********, c**t, cocksucker, ********, or tits. then so be it. i actualy remember a time when my youth pastor / mentor actualy told me flat out." the way you've been living is s**t. it's not helping you at all." it was the use of the word s**t is what truly rammed home the point to me.

Yeah, respectable is a matter of oppinion I guess. Unless your not telling the whole story, I admire your self-control, because I probably would have thrown something at those people. Ha, I wish my youth pastor would say what yours did to some people at our church.
