Of Ninjas and Pirates
Katara's being unusually defensive and un-nurturing towards the rest of the Gaang recently. I mean, it's expected of her behavior towards Zuko to an extent, but she's being an a** to everyone else, too.
Discuss.

I think it has mostly to do with Zuko. Part of it could be that she's (obviously) still not used to Zuko as part of the Gaang and is on her guard, and that spills over into interactions with the others. Another part of that is that she thinks that Zuko will judge her if she acts like she normally does with the gang. She's just very defensive right now.
I think another factor is the little thing in The Runaway where she and Toph had that fight. Even though it ended okay, I think the fact that the rest of the Gaang saw her as motherly had an impact on her, and she's trying to show that she's NOT motherly.
And I still blame PMS.
