I was wondering, because the Inuyasha anime series has ended does the manga go further into the storyline?
And also how many Inuyasha manga books are there?

The manga does continue the story, and there's 47 volumes to date. If you google Inuyasha scanlation you're bound to find a bunch of translations. Each 18 page chapter is published weekly in the shounen sunday. Then they're compiled into volumes.

i second this. chapter 400 had an extra page where Takahashi says she'd like to reach at least five hundred chapters before she ends the series, and through volume 48 there are 478 chapters. this one is the one i read...
