I was just wondering...out of the millions of people who get their books published, do the majority of them win some sort of award? You know like the Newberry Honor award or the Carnegie Children's award.

From what I have seen, which happens to be every book in the book store, awards are plentiful. The hard part is getting a less common award, or more than one. 3nodding

If I got an award for something I wrote, I would like it to be a less common award. Awards are very common place. Anyone can give you an award and you can stick it on your book. Example: "The Crystal Award". Stick that on your book and people are going to be all "Wow! They got the Crystal Award, that must mean their book is great, let's get it!"

But mostly it's just me picking up a dozen books with interesting covers, then finding one that catches my attention... sweatdrop Covers attract me... I've noticed that I actually don't LIKE most books that have awards XD Usually the books seem childish, underdeveloped, immature...not something to sink your teeth into, or even LICK, but to smell 3nodding I like my analogy

But then again, your description of those kinds of books can also be used to describe the people who read them. biggrin

I guess that means I'm not too childish, underdeveloped or immature mrgreen Yay! I was worried. Mostly it's the writing that's immature and flat out boring. The topic is good and kinda mature, but the way it's handled completely sucks. I got this one book about the artist Marcel Duchamp and the reviews on the back just raved and glorified it. It was almost revolting. It used vulgar slang to describe the female body, which is NOT what most art books do. They usually use scientific words. Although, Marcel Duchamp is a pervert x.x I have to do a group presentation on him Friday... yeck... A bit more on track.. I got this book on (I think) slavery. It looked all cool, sounded good, had an award (Pulitzer, I think) and it was SO boring. It had that straight cut writing meant for a 4 year old...a STUPID 4 four year old scream
