Well thank you for being honest, but actually she's older. The Naruto characters are all 12 years old except for Rock Lee who is 13 also. I haven't seen any eps where they are any older. Also she lived in a very secluded village so she didn't know about alot of things.

I agree about uncreative names. Too many of them. At times it becomes so bad that a normal name like Emily or Stephanie would be fine. In a fic I was working on (still unfinished) I looked up a bunch of Arabic names for Quatre's sisters and other unknown members of the Maguanacs.
Sorry I'm going to go into something of a rant here. Sorry if you feel this does not belong here. sweatdrop
I hate fanfics where the characters are seriously not behaving like themselves (terribly OOC). My roommate read a fanfic (not mentioning title or anything other than what's in my rate). I tried to read it and couldn't even get past the first five paragraphs, but my roommate told me what it was about. Apparently Relena had Duo arrested and thrown in prison after destroying his business because Heero loved Duo. wahmbulance Duo was charged with stealing from Quatre. wahmbulance And at the trial, Quatre would not speak up because his sisters somehow convinced him to not say anything. wahmbulance Two years pass and you find out that Duo was beaten and raped in prison. burning_eyes
Your view on yaoi is not point here. Relena does not have that personality and could certainly think up something better for someone to be charged with. Duo would not simply allow people to use him. Hell, he's a Gundam pilot; he could kick just about anyone's a**. And if Quatre were to do something like that, he would need to be slapped repeatedly by all of the background people that appear in Gundam Wing!

Yeah, I believe the term "characterization rape" is appropriate (if that doesn't offend anyone).
I agree 100%, but what REALLY pisses me off is that these people claim to love the series. And yet what do we get? Emotionless Heero, hyperactive Duo, Trowa with a daily word budget, borderline flamer Quatre, angry jackass Wu Fei, and Relena borrowing the personalities of people like Queen Beryl and Sauron.
The fact is, all the people who purport to love Gundam Wing and write fanfics like that don't know the first thing about the show; they saw cute guys and latched onto them like lampreys. They don't just ignore the After Colony world, they ignore everything except the characters' physical appearances and force-fit them into whatever cheap excuse for gay porn they can find.
Of course, if I may be allowed a little bragging, I'm proud to say that at least one member of the US Gundam Wing cast has read my fanfic Codename: Lightning, and praised it as being the most true-to-character and -series fanfic s/he had ever seen.

Ooo, that's impressive! Now I'm going to have to go read Codename: Lightning. Remember, though, the voice actors aren't specialists in the stories, just in the characters they act for (and, in the U.S. version, sometimes not even that sweatdrop ).

That's true, but anime voice actors tend to be much more competent than live-action actors, and also seem to care a lot more about both the characters they portray and the fans. For evidence, look at people like Scott McNeil, Vic Mignogna, Steve Blum, Mike Sinterniklaas, Johnny Yong Bosch and Mark Gatha, all of whom are very passionate about their characters and just generally nice people.
Also, minor pet peeve: I really hate it when authors give their original characters impossibly portentous names, usually the Japanese word for cool-sounding words like "Star Child", "Dragon Master" and things like that.

Ah yes, The Japanese names... What annoys me is when heero braeks into Japanese during a fic. I mean I really can't see him calling Duo "Kirei" or koishii" or anything like that. *shuddders* The AC world is globalized. I'm willing to bet they speak a common language and it isn't Japanese...

I've got two major pet peeves, although I agree with most everything I've read in this thread so far.
One: So many people constantly refer to Duo as "braided baka." Sure, it's all nice and alliterative, but come on, be original! Or just refer to him by name, for once. Besides, if Duo really was an idiot, there's no way he'd be a Gundam pilot in the first place.
Two: Duo's eyes are not freaking purple! They're blue! I've only seen one screen shot in the entire series where they looked even the slightest bit purplish, and that was for a split second as he was turning his head.

Personally, I prefer to make them purple, but I also don't flame people who make them blue. I own the DVDs and they look on the purplish side of blue to me. *shrug* Plus he's often something supernatural in my fics, so it works.
What really gets me is when people insist on bashing whatever interferance (canon or fandom) there is to their favorite pairing. For example, I have paired Duo with Heero in a couple of my fics. Not once have I bashed Relena or Hilde. There are better ways to get a character out of the way for a romance.
As for names, I get tired of OCs being given the most steriotyped names for their nationality, if that. The same with when we hear the 'real' names of Heero, Duo, or Trowa (when he's not being Triton). And the only time I gave one a name of a different nationality (Duo was Hijiri in "Living Shinigami," a Yami no Matsuei crossover), there was a good reason for it.
One other thing, and this one is character specific. People making Duo lie. Even little ones. Doesn't happen. He wouldn't lie unless there was a bloody good reason.
