"HEY yourself, little cub," he called after, walking slowly and content with allowing Nitesh to lead the way. He'd call out directions every now and then, though, to get him in the right direction
"Turn right at that little butterfly. No, not the blue one. The yel--no, not the red one. The yellow one, Nitesh. No, that one's pink. Turn at the Yellow one."

and the like.

Soon enough, they approached the lovely waterfall. There were many things to discover here, and Kifijo could most likely think of something to get Nitesh into the water and clean enough to suit him for one night before Tana was informed.

And oh, she -would- be informed. Absolutely.

Nitesh simply went in whatever direction seemed to not get another one, a correction, shouted out next. Afterall.... "Dad.. I don't know colors." Nitesh stated firmly, frowning a bit. Wasn't -his- fault, though. Besides, it was -very- amusing in its own way to try and figure things out. He'd already figured out 'yellow' was apparently that really dark color that was out at night....

...

Or so it seemed.

When the waterfall came into view, Nitesh went running, stopping short at the edge of the small pool of water to peer in, his nose nearly touching it.

"OooOOooh~"

Kif chuckled, rolling his eyes. "Well, exploring is a great opportunity for learning. What color is the water you're about to get pushed into right about...now?"

His large paw nudged Nitesh softly enough that it wasn't sudden or rash, but hard enough to make the cub tumble head over heels into the shallow pool.

Kifijo quickly waded in as well, content with standing near a bank and looking at the stones and plants at the bottom of the stream. Clear water raced passed his golden-brown legs, twining with his tail end.

A loud shriek accompanied the downward tumble, followed by a mass of air-bubbled which happily showed off the location of the cub, before he worked to scramble back out of the water, settling on the large paw of his father in panic.

"Can't we teach me colors WITHOUT shoving me in the water?" he whined, shaking out his chocolate colored fur to try and get all that darned water out of it.

"I mean really... ;; I coulda suffumacated..." Indeed, butchering the English language was a keen idea in the mind of the cub, and he did it extremely well.

Kifijo chuckled, a deep sound in his throat, as he sat on the band a good two feet away from his drenched son. His paw was now thoroughly soaked, however.

"Why not? It's fun. And you could have 'drowned,' not 'suffocated' or even 'suffumicated.' With water, it's a whole new word.

"So. Water is what color, Nitesh my ever-so-intelligent-son?"
PostPosted: Thu Dec 28, 2006 11:17 am

Nitesh pouted at hos non-chalantly his father responded to his protests, as well as hoq casually his misused of the word 'suffocated' was corrected (into the correct pronounciation of the word, as well as that it wasn't the right one for this case.)

Staring down at the water when his father inquired what color it was, the brown cub thought about it carefully. What color -was- it? He felt like he was staring at his reflection for a long while, until he looked up at Kifijo with an odd look on his face.

"... Does it -have- a color? It looks like it's just the color of everything else near it...." he stated, brows furrowed together in confusion.

Kifijo nodded approvingly.

"Very good. Usually, when one thinks of water, one is given the image of clear blue water, which gives us the assumption of water being blue.

"However, water is simply a reflection on everything. You look into the water, and what do you see? You see yourself as everyone else does. You do not see a blue version of your brown fur. Just brown fur.

"Good. Passed that first test." Kif winked, still proud of his son's answer.
He can be deep when he wants to, or when it comes to him. Maybe it's just not all the time; he's impatient to go out and play all the time.

"So. What color is the leaves and trees around us? The leaves and herbs we eat when we're sick; what color are they?"

There was a beam of pride when he received approval of his answer to the first question. Yay! However, he listened to his father's explanation of that some thought water was blue. Nitesh thought about that for a minute before looking up at the sky. Maybe -that- ws why......

Scrambling out of the water to drip-dry at his father's side, the brown cub listen to the next question, before looking at the trees and leaves that were being spoken of. Holding up a paw to look at the color of his fur next to the bark of the trees, he tilted his head to the side a bit.

".. Well.. their bark is brown.. same as my fur..." he said thoughtfully, before looking up at the leaves on the tree. Well, they weren't blue, yellow, or brown.... so that left red, green, black, purple, and white.... as a starter.
What did he know that were those other colors....

Grasshoppers are green. The leavers are the same color as grasshoppers!

"The leaves are green!" he then beamed. Yay for a long thought-process.

He barked out a laugh.

"Yes, the leaves are green. Very good."

Kif supposed it was time for a trick question; after all, his son had gotten the first two correct, whether it was from guessing or evaluation he had done in his head. Either way, Nitesh was doing well.

"Now. What color are my eyes?"

Frowning as his father laughed at him, Nitesh's ears flattened a bit. It was NOTHING for him to laugh at. Nitesh's logic was JUST fine, so he didn't need to think it funny. At least HE thought so.

However, the praise worked quickly to return the cub to a beaming state, before the next question was posed to him. Okay, now -that- wasn't a fair question. ".. Daddy is a BAJILLION times bigger than me and has a mane in his face...." he stated, shaking out his fur to get all the water out of it.

"So I can't answer that question." he stated, pouting.

Kif raised his eyebrow.

"I'm a bajillion times bigger than you? How about this?" He bent down, shaking his mane so that the ends tickled Nitesh's nose and his eyes were at the same height as the cub's.

"Can you answer it now?"
PostPosted: Mon Jan 22, 2007 2:56 pm

"Yes.. a bajillion." Nitesh confirmed, pouting. A Bajillion seemed to be a reasonable number to HIM, at least. However, Kifijo's change in height was taken well.

However, tickling the boy's nose probably could have gone over a bit better, as the brown cub sneeze... all. over. daddy. "Yck.." he complained, oblivious to that DADDY was the snot-victim, using a paw to wipe at his nose. Yuck, yuck!

But the child took the moment afterwards to peer at his father with almost a sense of scrutiny, propping his little paws up on his father's nose to look closely at the larger male's eyes.

"They're.... they're.."

He squinted a bit, before giggling and dropping from his little spot to prance away from the male off into the trees.

"I'll tell you when we get home, Kay?"

Oh, how perfect the bonding of a father and son would ever be.
