I've been thinking for a while, about starting up a graphics design business, that specializes in customizing the graphics things like guitars, rhythm game controllers, and so on, along with traditional art commissions and ad design. I've been wondering what kind of stuff I would need, to get a business going, and if I wold need a staff, or if it be all be done online. Anyone got some suggestions?

I'd hate to sound like I'm trying to be really hard on you, but opening a Graphic Design Business isn't easy. There are hundrends of talented artists begging for good jobs, and only the best if the best get the well paying ones. You may very well start a business and find yourself doing 3rd rate company's designs for years hoping to hit the big times.
If you really want to see how the lif of a designer is, then do some freelance work on the side and see the kind of jobs you bring in. I don't know anything about your skill level, but I do know how tough it is to get into the business.
Sorry if I was too harsh, I just don't want to see another perosn but a ton of time and money into a dream that never quite takes off.

BamSucks put in some good points.
It is difficult to start up a graphics design business and make it a huge success. Although I don't now much, I would imagine that a big part about it is getting people to know you.
So before starting your own company, build up your credentials. Do freelance work, work in design firms to build your portfolio, and do whatever else so that you could gain the experience. I don't know how far you are in that, but just some suggestions.

I don't know why people flounce around and pretend graphic design is just something you waltz into because you've got photoshop.
here's a hint.
University. Degree.
Try getting into a competitive art college and majoring in design.
Then see about opening up a shop.

Sounds like you're interested in product design with a dash of traditional art and a side of advertising. Have you by any chance considered getting an education on the subject at the various colleges and universities that teach it, like Art Center College of Design, Standford University, or Parsons?
