Chapter 14: Sound vs Leaf! Team Kaito Style!

Kiyone did her turn by throwing kunai at Kano. She dodged it and did a few handsigns, running to Kiyone.

"Wave Vibration Jutsu!" she screamed

The jutsu causes the air around Kano to move like a vibration, making it harder to hear her movements. Kiyone was watching her, she herself was ready. Kano disappeared frmo sight, then reappeared behind Kiyone without a sound, with a kunai in hand.

"I got you now, Uchiha..."

Kano ran toward her, attempting to stab Kiyone with the kunai. But Kiyone saw her move and did a flip to dodge her attack.

"My turn! Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!"

Kiyone shot multiple fireballs at Kano. a few hit her, but she kept going. Kano was slowly getting pissed at the purple-haired girl, something that she really doesn't do often.

Meanwhile, Sukai was getting ready to face Hayate and Lei. Hayate, eagar as ever, made his move first. Jumping up and making an kick from above to attack Sukai. Sukai caught Hayate's foot with both of his hands. Hayate smirked.

"Gotcha!" he said as he disappeared

A clone?! Yes! As he was jumping, Hayate made some handsigns to bring out his clone to attack in his place. Since Sukai was focused on his clone, that gave Hayate an opening. He reappeared behing Sukai and did a sweep kick to make him trip.

"Alright, my turn now, Hayate!" said Lei as he disappeared.

Sukai felt like he was being wrapped by the tree, he couldn't move! Yet another genjutsu, made by Lei.

"What the...? What kind of trick is this? Let me out of here!" said Sukai

Lei reappeared in the tree, with a kunai to the hand.

"Demonic Illusion: Tree Binding Death!"

With that, Sukai let out a scream as the kunai struck him. When the genjutsu was over, he fell down unconscious.

"Was it me, or was that too easy?" said Hayate as he picked up Sakuya.

"Let's just see if Kiyone needs any help." said Lei

Kano and Kiyone put up quite a fight, however Kano endured more damage than Kiyone did. Kiyone had a few cuts to her face and arms, but Kano had a burn and a lots more cuts.

"Alright Uchiha." she said walking over to the unconscious Mihiru and Sukai. "You win this time."

With that, the Sound trio disappeared.

Chapter 16: Three Days Off

Team Kaito arrived at Konoha two weeks after leaving the Cloud Village. Being with Sakuya made Kiyone, Hayate, and Lei think that they needed to get stronger. And that's excatly what they wanted to do. Lucky for them they made it to the Leaf Village three days before the third exam started.

"Team, good work on the mission," said Kaito-sensei "As you know, almost everyone in the village will be at the Third Exams, so as such, you got the next few days off."

"Really? Thanks, Kaito-sensei!" said Kiyone

"Yeah, I've been meaning to cut loose after that mission. The exams are going to be awesome!" said Hayate

Katio just smiled at Kiyone and Hayate's sayings, but he noticed that Lei didn't say anything at all.

"Well, Lei? Something wrong?" he asked

"No, nothing at all, really, Kaito-sensei." Lei said looking at the gate.

Hayate grabbed Lei close to him and then Kiyone, with a happy look on his face.

"Well, Lei! You moping around won't get us anywhere! C'mon guys, I say Ichiraku Ramen the place to go! We'll see ya later, Kaito-sensei!" he said

"Hey! Hayate! What are ya...?" Kiyone and Lei both started as Hayate ran with them flying around. Kaito just shook his head at the sight.

"Some thing don't change, I guess." he said

Hayate made it to the Ichiraku Ramen Stand, with a seemingly tired Kiyone and Lei behind him. As soon as they got close, Hayate laughed.

"What's so fuuny, huh?" said Kiyone

"You guys... look so pathetic right now!" he said laughing

"Whaddya mean by that?! If you didn't ring our necks while running we wouldn't be like this!"

"Hey you two, cool off. We came to eat, right?" said Lei, dusting himself off

"Of course! Hey, old man, three bowls of Ramen here!" said Hayate, looking at the owner

"Coming right up!" he said

"Hayate, don't leave us with the check like you did last time." said Kiyone

"Alright, alright..." said Hayate, keeping his fingers crossed so that no one could see.

"Don't cross your fingers either."

"Curse her and her Sharingan!" Hayate thought

The three Chuunin ninja ate their three... well... six if your count Kiyone's two bowls, Hayate's three, and Lei's one. Hayate was about to leave, until Kiyone grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. Everyone paid their share of the bill. The three went out of the ramen stand, and to their homes.

"Well, see ya three tomorrow!" said Hayate, waving

"Bye you two!" said Kiyone

"See you." Lei simply said

Kiyone was sound asleep in her bed in her little condo. She did notice that she didn't see Sasuke as she arrived, since she heard that he's been released from the hospital. But she didn't worry too much. It was already 9 in the morning. Two more days till the third exams.

"Kiyone! Wake up!"

Kiyone slowly opened her eyes. Hayate was above her. She suddenly turned wide-eyed and jumped.

"Wha? Hayate, how the heck you get in here?!" she demanded

"The window was open." was his response

"Don't you know breaking and entering when you hear it? Geez, what're you trying to do?"

"Get you on your feet, of course. We've got some days off!"

Hayate picked up Kiyone from her bed, revealing that all she was wearing was her white nightgown. Kiyone had a tint of red across her face, and started squirming.

"Put me down! Hayate, you big oaf, put me down!"

Hayate put her down by her feet, and looked out the window.

"Hurry up and get dressed. I gotta go get Lei." he said

Chapter 18: Kiyone's Day

Kiyone was sleeping in the condo again. Hayate didn't come this time, that's good, otherwise Kiyone could punched him so hard that he flies out of the village. Waking up, eating waffles, drinking water, getting dressed, and going out. Kiyone was by herself at the moment. Sasuke wasn't there, Hayate wasn't there, and Lei wasn't there. It's been a while since Kiyone had time to herself without feeling sad or concerned.

While walking through the acadamy, she saw the wide space that the kids played in, and that lonely little swing in the shade. It brought Kiyone memrories of when she and the squad first met.

Flashback

"Alright, my name is Yamada Kaito," Kaito said adressing himself to the three young genin. "I am your new sensei. My duty is to train you all on several exercises, be the leader of your missions, and teach you all about teamwork. First thing is to introduce yourselfs. Who are you, what or who you like, and what or who you don't like."

A boy stood up first. He was wearing a blue Chinese-like shirt and black pants. His balck hair was about shoulder length.

"My name is Shiraha Lei, I like ren bean buns and nature. I don't like being picked on because of stupid reasons."

Another boy was laughing at him, very loudly. So loud taht he fell on his back. Kiyone twiched.

"What's so funny, huh?" she said

"Yes... since you are so eager, you go next." said Kaito

"Alright, I will!" The boy said getting up "My name's Kuregata Hayate. I'm a passion-willed fighting ninja! I hate losing to anyone! And I like training and ramen."

Kiyone rolled her eyes. She had a feeling that this guy will be a handful.

"And now we're on our last teammate." Kaito said

"My name is Uchiha Kiyone. I love watching skies, ramen and dumplings, and my family. I don't like when people are sad, or stuck-up showoffs."

"Pfft... that's what we need, another Uchiha. Came to one-up your older brother, cousin, or whatever that Itachi guy is!"

"Don't talk about my cousin like that!" Kiyone said. At the time she was very defensive of Itachi. Katio sighed.

"Well, team. Like it or not, you're a sqaud. The first step is getting to know each other, and that's quite enough."

Kiyone laughed a little looking back, then went to a spot in the forest area, where the Uchiha clan secret meeting spot was. Kiyone picked out a white lotus and put it on the the center on the shrine.

"I'm getting along great," she said, as if talking to her family "My sqaud and I are really close. We've felt like we've made new bonds. I think Sasuke made new bonds as well. I'll try hard to make the Uchiha clan in hte heavens proud of me."

Kiyone left the shrine and went back to the village. She bought a few things for herself and Sasuke, keeping them in seperate bags because she and Sasuke likes some different foods. She likes anything sweet or dry, Sasuke didn't like anything sweet, like dango. Sasuke likes tomatos, Kiyone thinks they're okay. After shopping, Kiyone went back to the condo. Had dinner, and watched the sunset.

"The sunset looks so beautiful, it's colors stretching the sky like that. The different colors expressing emotion, capturing the heart of anyone who sees..." Kiyone said softly, then got from her spot, and look at the arena where the Chuunin exams were held.

"I wonder... will I ever be powerful, yet compassionate about protecting my friends at the same time, and Sasuke breaking free from the chains of revenge."

((I thought this would fit with this chapter.))

Chapter 20: Tension with a Hyuuga

Kiyone stood up, as Naruto was victorious againist Neji. The underdog beats the genius, the "failure" wins againist the "gifted". It was a good and intense match to watch, and it made Kiyone riled up for the next match. She looked at her teammates, and Hayate was crying over the money he lost on that bet. She sighed... serves him right.

Lei and Hayate was on the edge on their seats when Sasuke's match was called, but Genma did say that he didn't appear yet. Kiyone shrugged. Nerves maybe? Last minute tips? No need to worry, right? They called the Shino and Kankuro fight, but Kankuro forfeited.

"Oh, come on!" Hayate cried "Buncha cowards! Next match!"

Kiyone stood up and hit Hayate hard on the head. "You idiot..." she said. That's when, they saw Temari come down. Guess she's that's left for the moment. Hayate calmed down a bit, then roared in laughter when Shikamaru fell. Both Kiyone and Lei shook their heads, and went on to watch the match.

Team Kaito tried to follow on the Shikamaru/Temari match. Lei kept his focus on Shikamaru, he looked like he had something planned. Hayate, however, was getting his brain fried.

"Are you following, Hayate? Shikamaru's plan?" Lei asked

"Huh?" Hayate replied

Lei sighed. "The Nara specializes with the Shadow Possesion Jutsu. Shikamaru is laying low in the shade so that his Shadow can reach further, to to capture Temari." Lei looked up a bit on the clouds. "I'd say, he's waiting for the clouds to cover the sun."

"Oh, for extend his Shadow's reach? He's quite the strategist for a genin... We've got awesome rookies this year." said Kiyone

Hayate yawned. "Looks that that Temari's chick's caught on. She's dodging every move." he said

"Yeah, but I wouldn't count Shikamaru out just yet." Kiyone replied.

Continuting watching the Tactics match, Kiyone and Lei were amazed at the strategies playing out. Shikamaru's tactics, the clouds, his coat acting like a balloon or some sort... all were amazing, nothing of a genin level. Temari has been pushed to the edge a couple of times, but they saw that she was a strategist as well. The finale was about to play out. Teamari was about to make her move...

"I don't think his shadow can stretch that far now..." Hayate said.

Lei's eyes widened, Temari's final strike! But something was wrong... she couldn't move. All three Team Kaito members stood up in awe.

"But... how?" Kiyone stammered

Lei searched for an explaination, then it hit him. "The holes! From the last match! Shikamaru was able to stretch his shadow underground, and captured Temari!" he said. Lei plopped back on his seat. "That Shikamaru makes me feel a bit stupid... he won..."

Kiyone put a hand on Lei's shoulder. "You're not stupid, that Shikamaru is just smarter than your average genin." she said. As Kiyone saw the two walking, Temari's arm mimicing Shikamaru's, at the signal of surrender, then...

...Shikamaru gave up.

"Wh...What in the hell?!" Hayate said, twitching his left eye. "WHAT WAS THAT?!"

The crowd was in an uproar, and not a very good one. Kiyone couldn't understand it either. Neither did Lei. He rose up, and started walking up the stairs.

"Where're you going?"

"To the bathroom. Even this place has one." Lei responded.

Kiyone nodded, time to get Hayate under control.

Lei eventually found the bathroom, it took a while since the stadium was a bit big. After he was done, he washed his hands, and left. As he approached the first set of stairs, a girl was in front of them. Judging from her eyes, she was of the Hyuuga clan.

"You... you are with the Uchiha girl, correct?" she asked

"Yes, I'm Kiyone's teammate?" Lei said, raising an eyebrow. "What business do you have with her, Hyuuga-san?"

"Ayame if you don't mind," the girl said. "My name is Hyuuga Ayame. Tell the Uchiha girl, that I challenge her to a match. After the Chuunin Exams."

"Wait a minute! What give you the right to demand such a thing to me?!" Lei exclaimed "You should tell Kiyone herself, not me!"

Ayame grabbed Let by the collar. "Do it... or I will use you as my practice warm-up, right now..." she threatned. Ayame had two of her fingertips glowing blue

Lei knocked Ayame's hand from his collar, and walked past her. "Stop being a coward and just ask her. You won't get your demand through me." he said.

Ayame twitched, and activated her Byakugan. "How... dare you call me a coward!?" she snapped fiercely. She ran up the stairs, and struck Lei on his shoulder . "Do not ever call me a coward again... I will not go so easy on you." she said as she walked off.

Lei grunted in pain, holding on to his hit shoulder. Gentle fist, my foot. That fist was anything but gentle. He continued to go back to his seat. It looked like Kiyone had another rival.

"Why must the Uchiha's have rivals every five seconds?" he said aloud.
