MEGA UPDATESince it's not very likely that I'll be drawing much anymore now that I'm on a photography and video course, I thought I'd add some of my old work to the thread, since I've recently photographed it.
Ok I'll start with the oldest stuff first:
1.)
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/Carouselpainting.jpgThis is 2 years old now, and was part of a Personal Journey topic. I foun it really hard to come up an idea for the project, and alot of people were doing holidays, so I picked a holiday to Disneyworld that I had when I was 10. This painting is of me riding a carousel horse. I used horizontal brushstrokes to exagerate the speed and movement.
2.)
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/Castlepainting.jpgThis is an acrylic painting of the 25th Anniversary castle in Disneyworld. It's supposed to be in the style of Roy Lichtenstein's earlier works, which are quite wavey.
3.)
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/SpaceShuttle.jpgThis is an acrylic painting of a space shuttle which I got see launch when I was in America. I kinda like this one because it all seems to blend together.
NEXT UP:
4.)
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/Japanasewarriorheadmask.jpgThis is a Japanese project I worked on almost 2 years ago. It was for my A-Level exam. This is a pencil drawing of a Japanese samouri mask. It was A3 size I think, so it seemed to take ages.
5.)
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/Japanesemaskabstract.jpgThis is an abstract painting I did of the mask above ^ I drew seperate parts of the mask and overlapped them to create the composition. That's A3 size as well and by the end of it I was sick of painting it.
sweatdrop 6.)
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/Japanesecatpencildrawing.jpgAbove is a pencil drawing of a wooden Japanese cat idol. I think I've shown it you before, but I need it to associate with this acrylic painting:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/Japanesecatabstract.jpgAgain I seperated different parts of the cat to create the composition. I think this one works better than the previous one of the mask, but there's so much brown
sweatdrop 7.)
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/Japanesefinalpiecedesign.jpgThis is a small version of my final piece for the Japanese project. My actual final piece was A3 size, and was 3 seperate strips of canvas in a Triptych.
The idea behind it that I took various details and shapes from all the different objects I'd taken photos of and drawn through the Japanese project, and combined them altogether in the style of Fernand Leger. It took a long time to finally get the right composition of shapes.
FINALLY:
8.) These are roughly a year old now.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/memonoprint.jpgThis is a monoprint from a project I did on the superficiality of women. For those of you who might not know what a mono print is...all you do to create one is spread printing ink onto a surface, place a piece of paper on top, and then use a pencil to draw your picture onto the paper. When you lift the paper off, on the side that was pressed down into the ink you have a sort of rubbing. It's not as easy as it sounds because if you rest your hand on the paper whilst drawing, it leaves a mark on the other side of the paper. Also, whatever you draw will be reversed in a mirror image on the other side. This is probably the best monoprint I've done and I like the fact that it isn't very realistic looking.
9.)
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/Gemmamakeup.jpgThis is from the same project as the previous one. I took a photo of my friend with shed loads of make up on smeared on her face in various different poses, with rubber gloves and stuff. I drew this from one of the photographs of her holding different items of make up. And I actually drew it using lipstick and eyeliner and mascara.
10.)
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y265/lunatichypocrit/Fine Art/guitarpenandink.jpgThis is a pen and ink drawing of my friend playing guitar. I know the hand doesn't look too realistic but it was all drawn with ink, no pencil outlines first so if I made a mistake I just had to live with it. Saying that though, I'm pretty pleased with it. It isn't the best one I've done, but still.
