I've gotten over that whole "not being asian" thing, because I can't change my race. I can wear whatever I want.
I haven't gotten over my white-hair complex, though. I'm the only lolita with albinism that I know... I just don't feel like I fit in..

Rorita.Manba Considering Lolita was inspired by Rococo/Victorian fashion, and that Japanese Lolita's tend to make themselves as white as possible, I've always found that view incredibly funny. ._.' Just tell her youre great-great-great(etc) grandwhatever was Japanese, anyone dim enough to think your race can dictacte whether or not you can properly take part in a fashion should be dim enough to believe that. =P the first part of this is very true ^^

Fashion is not limited to race, this should be obvious and nothing to talk about.
And now, being honest and blunt, I find the style most suitable for more European-esque girls. Asians that look like porcelain dolls, sure, but not as suitable for Asians who look like Asians.
I am sure it has been brought up many times, and when it hasn't, I am one to do it; the style is highly influenced by European fashion, and saying that I, a European, am not allowed to wear that type of clothing, is ridiculous.

"You can never be _____ because you're not Asian!"
Ah, these kind of statements makes Asians look bad >.<
There's never any reason to judge people that way... Well, what I want to say has been mentioned in this thread already, but I'd also say, just do whatever your want.
If she's gonna say that to you, I'd reconsider calling her a friend.

Razeasha I've gotten over that whole "not being asian" thing, because I can't change my race. I can wear whatever I want. I haven't gotten over my white-hair complex, though. I'm the only lolita with albinism that I know... I just don't feel like I fit in.. why did you care about the race in the first place? Your right you cant change your race. So no one should ever worry about it. And dont worry about your hair. Personally i find you have i guess white hair majorly awesome. So don't worry about it when wearing lolita. I don't worry about me being hespanic. im tan, short, curly hair and its thin and i don't care. so neither should you biggrin

That's...rather close-minded of that girl to think that only Asians can be lolita. Even if the fashion started out in Japan, it did spread out to other countries and became popular as well. I've seen a lot of lolitas from every nationality, and they all pull off the fashion very well.
