So wait, back up...
I already knew that being a Hippie is not about how you dress or what your political standing is or even what music you listen to...
then I had this revelation or whatever...
what is being a hippie about?

I guess a "hippy" would be someone who's finally realize the war-like mentality that's been programmed into young children. Someone who's finally broken out of the media spell. Someone who's realized that life is not scary (said so by the news), strangers are not always bad and scary, you DON'T need all this crap being advertised EVERYWHERE! Hippies believe in peace, harmony, freedom of being and LOVE.
That's what I think a hippy is. At least when I express my beliefs about some things, I am called a hippy. Although it gets confusing, my friends will all call me a hippy and associate things that I didn't think were hippyish. I even got a "No offense, but I thought hippies don't believe in God" (my freind thought I said something about praying). So I had to answer "I believe in God... but in a totally different way." But anyway, when it boiled down to it, it's all about each individuals personal associations and perceptions to what a "hippy" is. And most seemed to be based on the image that's portryed in the media about our spiritually free brothers and sisters from the 60s-70s. Whatever that may be.
