Once he'd acted like a cat, and one time like a spooky salesperson, and once he tried to pretend he was Charles himself...He'd have to try doing that when calling a pizza place or something. "Hello, this I am calling from the S.H.R. Agency, is this InsertNameHere..ah, I mean, Chiara?" The messenger grinned. He was following script. At least that part was to the tee. Of course, he ignored logic like putting in names and asking people who were so obviously not who he was looking for that same question. Chiara had rushed to the phone from her back room, where she'd been currently mending a book, and dived towards the kitchen where her one and only phone was. Couldn't whoever wanted her call her cell phone? She carried that with her all the time but no, someone had to call her home phone. Glue-stained fingers picked up the receiver, and another set brushed some hair behind her ear. Out of breath, she responded, "Si, this is Chiara," in slightly accented English. What would that American superhero agency want with her?

This was a new girl. He was supposed to be nice to these new things.
When had he ever followed THAT rule?
"He-eelloo, there. Sorry for disturbin' you, lady, but apparently letters aren't good enough anymore. The Agency, that one you been hearing about with the kids who need a new mommy, is putting on this big Christmas extravagant expesnse. December twentieth through January second, we're havin' a big bash on a cruise ship to Hawaii. You can get to know Flashcharge and his boss, if ya like, get to know the agency and the people better. Have a lot of fun on an all-expense paid cruise. Guardians, kids, the bosses, the supers, and yours truly will be going. Whatcha say?"
The messenger swirled around, ready to scratch a big "no" on the list. People generally had their own lives to follow.
"OH! Oooh, yeah, and you have a life and want to visit family and the like, that's not a problem. We have some nifty teleportation device things you can use. But there's some big Christmas bash planned too."
"And, this is all secret. Like always, no one knows about this. And we're watching you..." The messenger's voice fell to being dead serious there. Whether he was trying to scare her or actually had a serious bone in his body was hard to tell.

Chiara listened in silence, doing her best to translate his English slang to her Italian. And he talked so fast! So she rapidly figured out what he was saying, guessing at the words she didn't know and put it together as best she could, then doing her best to decide. She bit her lip, trying to figure out if she had any plans. Her parents weren't expecting her and her best friend was in Russia, doing whatever photographers did.
With a burst of decision and enthusism. "Oh yes, I'd love to come! I've never been to Hawaii and I always wanted to go to the United States." She continued muttering under her breath in Italian, which was undoubtably picked up by the phone. "Oh, what'll I wear? Is is warm there? Oh my books! What'll I do with my books! Which ones should I bring, I can't very well bring the ones Mo sent in to be repaired, some of those are about to fall apart!" She settled with rubbing her upper lip in an attempt to curb off her worry. "So, er, what do I need to know?"

The messenger straight out laughed at this woman. This one was going to be a lot of fun!
"Yah, it's warm enough down by Hawaii, though it is still winter, toss in a few sweaters with yer bathingsuit. I'd suggest bringing a big, heavy book. Somethin' to smack Charlie with when he starts getting all long-faced... Eh, or maybe a book will make his face longer... Gotta small bowl with can round him out with instead?"
He paused as he thought of the more serious question, "Eh, not much, we're out to have fun. We'll call you with arrangements to getcha to the cruise ship. Don't worry about bringin' too much, just yer own clothes and little things you like. I'm sure there'll be enough to do so you don't haveta bring a ton of books."
Maybe he was being just a wee nicer to the new thing.

Chiara was a bit surprised as he answered so thoroughly, if jokingly. She bit her lip, going through a list of things to bring. "Right. Thank you for the advice. I'll be there." She said. "Arrivederci," She said, saying informal because, for whatever reason, almost all but the richest Americans seemed to be informal. Americans were so strange and she was going on a cruise with a lot of them. Oh well. Belatedly, she gathered her thoughts enough to hang up.
