OOC: This is an IC general summary...which means it's long because SSH doesn't know when to shut up when she's writing... I'll eventually get an OOC summary up if ya'll want it.

Ok, so things weren't exactly going the best way possible.

After his encounter with Avalanche, Flashcharge hadn't yet seemed to regain all of his usual strength and bravado. Sure, he was out fighting the villians again, but suddenly Flashcharge didn't seem the hero he'd always been before.

Then again, that could have a lot to do with the emotional part of it. It would appear the Photon went from spying on some relatively minor mutant nuisance group to finding that it wasn't all that minor and joining anyway. Maybe Photon thought that his actions didn't affect anyone around the agency, but that was far from the truth. As a matter of fact, the fact he wasn't around went to show how much his behind-the-scenes work had been helpful.

Avalanche was still in Egypt, crowing over his shining victories and somehow managing to stave off both super and military power. The panic that one Villian caused made being an Evo much more difficult. Actually, it made being a Super even more difficult. Everything was being called in. What had happened to military forces? Couldn't they DO anything anymore?

To the whole agency, it was a sad disgrace. So much of their attention had been focused on Solarduct, who hadn't even made many appearances now, and this Villian shows up and takes out a country without any effort at all. Supers around the world only speculated and hoped that he would start trying to take over the continent as well, too fast, and destroying his resources. That would have seemed to be the usual mental state of Avalanche, but once again, it seemed as if they were underestimating him.

Charles, who had been bleary-eyed, overworked, and caffeine addicted to begin with, was now five times as bad and still didn't feel like he managed to get anything of use done. His partner-in-workaholics, Jim, seemed to bust the other way. He'd started out right beside Charles, but had begun missing work for "family issues." Both men were bossy as ever, but now there was a new edge that made people do what they wanted just to be sure that they DIDN'T break.

And the relocation program? Hah! There was some simbalance of communication going on, and there were still some minor training sessions, but in reality, it had almost come to a complete stop. That was another mistake that Charles knew he'd be regretting considerably sometime in the very near future, but he simply did not have the time or ability to work with it, or find competent help.

Things were really blowing up.

Yeah. The whole world needed a vacation.

Jim had been trying to convince Charles of that for a very long time, and he finally found a leg in by bringing the children into the picture.... The conversation fell somewhere along these lines...

"Jim, I know, I KNOW that we can't go ignoring our relocation program. But what are we to do? The guardians keep asking inane questions that I can't answer, the kids are beginning complain about more missions or drop off because there's no more excitement in what isn't new... One little brat keeps giving the trainer all sorts of behavioral problems. What are we to do? The world is scared, paranoid, and..."

"Hawaii. Big boat. Dream vacation. Come on, Charles, m'friend. We've had that thing for ages and the company's only used it once. I think Flashcharge took it out for a spin once. That's a crying shame."

"James! I can NOT take a---"

"Not YOU...And not necessarily. A training vacation. Get the kids gathered up, bring in Susan during her break...See if you can't get Andy involved, he's still pretending that he's loyal to us, isn't he? We can get the kids reinterested, check out their progress, try to get Thomas relaxed and recharged... And do it away from everything so your concentration can be on one thing so it's EFFECTIVE, as opposed to a hundred things and being scattered everywhere..."

Oops. Jim winced. He knew that was the wrong thing to have said the moment he did. Charles blinked and looked up. He seemed to be taking a double take, though his eyes never left Jim's face.

"You don't think I'm being effective?"

"I...well...yes, but it's better when you have less to focus on...it's...that's human nature." The last thing he wanted to be was the final straw.

Charles sighed. Tired. Older than his years. And getting to the point of depression, because his own fear so that he wasn't good enough had just been comfirmed by his best friend. But the man was also giving him a way to do something better. "Alright. We'll try it. I...I know that it's not your place, but do you think you can get that settled out for me?"

Jim was surprised, but jumped eagerly on it, "Yes. Absolutely. The kids. The guardians. The Supers.... You. And a staff. Can I bring Ace too?"

"Only if he makes a good staff member."

Jim grinned, "Of course he does. Thanks, Charles, I'm getting it now!" And he rushed out before Charles could change his mind. As a matter of fact, he put his cellphone on silent as he did so. Until it was already too late to back out, he wasn't going to even discuss anything with Charles further. They needed it.
