OOC: This is an example of the phone conversation that would take place. If you want to do a conversation, feel free to use the NPC beginning statement to start it off I'll notice a new thread and get it going. wink
IC:
Someone at the agency had thought they'd gotten smart. In order to prevent minor felony actions occuring...such as tampering with US mailboxes and running stop signs...the infamous messenger had been given a job he didn't like nearly as much.
He got to use the agency phoning system.
Geeez....it wasn't like he'd ever hurt anyone...
Sighing, the messenger picked up the phone with a lot less enthusiasm than he had in delivering those messages.
When the phone was answered, though, he did enjoy making his voice sound all weird.. Once he'd acted like a cat, and one time like a spooky salesperson, and once he tried to pretend he was Charles himself...He'd have to try doing that when calling a pizza place or something.
"Hello, this I am calling from the S.H.R. Agency, is this InsertNameHere..ah, I mean, Jenny?" The messenger grinned. He was following script. At least that part was to the tee. Of course, he ignored logic like putting in names and asking people who were so obviously not who he was looking for that same question.

"Jennnnny! It's the scary-NSA-man-for-you" came the yelled reply - enough to deafen the eardrums. Zayd had relaxed enough around her to be quite so loud; he was still much, much quieter in company.
"I'm coming! Tell him I'll just be a minute, I have to... oh, sugar!" there was the sound of a crash coming from the kitchen.
"She'll be a minute" Zayd confided.
"Yes - hello?"

"He-eelloo, there. Sorry for disturbin' you, lady, but apparently letters aren't good enough anymore. The Agency's putting out yet another extravagant expense and I'm invitin' you to join in the money-spending spill. December twentieth through January second, we're havin' a big bash on a cruise ship to Hawaii. Training sessions will be involved, as well as some personal interviews with the children and you guardians, but for the most part, as far as I can understand, it's a big vacation. Guardians, kids, the bosses, the supers, and yours truly will be going. Whatcha say?"
Ok, so maybe he didn't completely follow the script... but that was a lot more interesting than blah, blah, blah... Besides, the messenger wouldn't be surprised if everyone said no. Unlike his bosses, he was certain everyone had a life and was going to go visit people...
"OH! Oooh, yeah, and you have a life and want to visit family and the like, that's not a problem. Those teleporters come in handy. But there's some big Christmas bash planned too."
Of course, the script also meant you didn't forget things...

"That sounds wonderful!" you could almost hear Jenny smiling down the phone; it was quite creepy. "Will you tell them of course we'll come!"
It did sound good - an opportunity for Zayd to meet some other children (his three rs were going well, so he could afford to take a little holiday), and to avoid the family arguments that plagued this time of year - she didn't care much for being called an interfering old biddy.

The man shook his head. Well that was one. He made a chack on his list.
"Good. We'll mail you the information then. If you have any questions, feel free to call back. Chao." Usually, he would have slammed the phone down there, but not to nice old ladies... he'd forgotten there was a nice old lady in the bunch...

"Alright then; thank-you very much. It's very sweet of you to take the time to call; a lovely personal touch. Goodbye then!" There was a click as the phone was put down, Jenny hurrying off to tell Zayd this wonderful news; he hated the cold, so this would be perfect!
