Merry laughter following in his wake, Shin reared up on his hind legs, paws batting at the other's ears and muzzle. A jump and a hope, and he was bounding around Inari in a circle, leaping every few paces, tail flicking excitedly behind. So full of energy the little one was.
"You don't play? Why not?"
He tilted his head curiously, who didn't play? Even his father who was an adult with a full mane loved to play. But why would a cub not play? After all Inari seemed to like to play games, and he was good at them too.
"Of course we're friends!"
His expression lifted, a bright grin spreading across his maw again as he bounced on his paws. So happy he was, he had made a new friend, it was a beautiful day, the sun shone brightly, the fish were swimming near the shore, life couldn't be better.

Inari scrunched his nose up as Shin's paws touched it, ears folded back, but as Shin's paws disappeared his ears perked up again, a smile still upon his maw though it had a slight smirk in it.
Why he didn't play?
Good question.
He himself tilted his head to the side, trying to figure out how to express why without saying specific things he shouldn't say, "A friend of mine, he asked me to do something for him, I did it, and I want to be strong and bigger the next time I see him, so when I tell him what he asked of me, he might be impressed. Training more then playing...but I guess it can be considered both yes?"
Inari flicked his tail and poked at Shin's paws playfully, crouching down again smiling, yay, so they were friends. It was good, he was glad. "Where do you live Shin? So perhaps I can come find you, and we can play again." Inari said with a nod, yes, he'd like to know, so he could find his friend easier.

The little one blinked, head tilted in questioning. That didn't seem like much of a reason for not playing, why would a friend not want him to play?
"If he's your friend he'd what you to be happy wouldn't he?"
It wasn't a question over whether this friend he spoke of was really a friend or not, it was a question over why Inari thought the friend wouldn't want him to play if that's what he wanted to do. He was a cub after all right?
He bounced on his paws again, batting at Inari in return.
"In the big hollow tree in the middle of the pridelands. There's a bunch of drawings all over it. Dad said most of them were there when he and Mama moved in, but he showed me a couple he drew too."
There was wonderment in his voice as he spoke, as if the hollow tree was the most amazing place on earth, with a ceiling that stretched on forever and beautiful paintings hung on the wall.

Inari's tail was flicking back and forth, eyes held upon Shin, a tree? Hollowed tree, thats were he was usually? It sounded, well, amazing to tell the truth. His den was probably like other dens, but he was usually wandering about on his own rather then staying in the den at home.
He wondered if the pictures there told any stories, Inari liked stories, either made up ones or truthful ones, he liked them all really, perhaps someday he would tell cubs stories and would draw picture for them to follow. Yes, that would be nice, but Inari also wanted to just be strong, be something grand.
It was what he strove to accomplish everyday.
He smiled, batted at Shin's paws still, it was like a game of catching a hopper bug, but just poking at each other's paws playfully and with energy, "Then I will be able to find you then, trees are not so hard to find Shin."

The little one yawned, batting once more at Inari before settling back on his haunches. It had been a busy day for the young cub who had spent the entire day running around and exploring the lands, playing with his puppy, batting at the fish, and making a new friend. So much excitement, and though he didn't like to admit it, he was growing tired.
"There are lots of trees around, but it guess it is kinda hard to miss the big hollow one."
True there were trees littering the savannah, though they were scattered and most of them were small or no much more than shrubs. But to a small cub, a shrub was a tree, and there were trees around the water hole.
Tail flicking behind him, Shin let his forepaws slide under him, settling on his belly on the shaded earth.
"What do you wanna do now?"

Inari stretched his legs, he usually did it constantly, thinking that stretching a lot might make him get bigger sooner. But it never seemed to work, nothing ever seemed to work when he tried to get bigger. It seemed he would have to find his godly friend in the same condition as he was before...just a cub. It irritated him.
He snapped into reality when Shin asked Inari what he'd like to do. He tried to think, what else could they do now before it got too late in the day and they would have to head home? He wasn't quite sure, he never really played games all the time, just slept, ate, then went out on his own. Inari was glad he had made friends though, like Shin.
"Hmm, I'm not sure, is there anything else you would like to do Shin?" he asked with a smile upon his maw. Perhaps they would have time for at least one more game before it got too late.

The little one watched the other for a moment, head tilted, his tail flicking lightly. They had already played tag, hide and seek, and pouncing; they'd even played with the fish. What was left to play?
"I dunno, we already played all he games I know."
He looked down for a moment, if only he had stumbled across Inari earlier in the day, they could have played with Totoro. But Totoro being younger than himself, or so he had guessed, didn't have as much energy and had retreated to the den for a nap.
He wanted to play some more, to find another game, but he already had a full day and he had run out of ideas for new games.

"Hmmm...." Inari said trying to think. His golden eyes looked up towards where the sun was in teh sky, he was trying to time how long it would take to set, how much time he would have to get back to teh den before nightfall. He figured his parents wouldn't want him out late, though Inari wandered out on his own a lot.
"Then...perhaps we can meet another day for some more play? Would that be okay Shin? I should get back to my parents, make sure they don't get mad at me for being out so long..." he hoped it would be alright with his new friend. Inari liked playing with Shin, and to tell teh truth, Inari was a bit tired from this days escapades.

Shin'Jougen nodded, for the first time noticing the position of the sun. Seemed it was getting late, and though he hated to admit it, his own parents would be coming to find him soon.
"Okay, we could meet here again, and we'll have even more fun."
He smiled brightly, suddenly springing to his paws with newfound excitement, trotting around Inari once before bounding a step away, a step toward home. So much had happened, he had to tell Totoro, and maybe next time they could all play together.
"I'll see you later, Inari. Next time we'll play some new games."
Grinning, the small cub bounded off, pausing a moment to turn and wave to his new friend before running off. He couldn't wait to get home and find Totoro, and tell him about Inari. Then together they'd think of some new games to play.

Inari smiled and nodded, yes, they could meet there and there could be more fun to be had. New games, new ideas and everything was new in Inari's mind, he had never tried so hard to think of new fun games to play with other's in a while. It was a strange feeling to do it now, but he liked it all the same.
He began to take some steps in his own direction of home, he turned to see Shin wave, he did the same. His new friend was full of excitement, truly they would have more fun together sometime.
The rusty brown cub then sprang out on his legs, as if trying to make them stretch as he ran, perhaps he could go find his parents, tell them about Inari's new friend, then he would dream of fun and games tonight.
Yes, that would be brilliant.
