I wonder when Benny and Mimi were together. Didn't she say it was two years ago? Wouldnt that have made mimi 17? Wow.
eek I never thought of that. Ew! Benny is wierd.
Benny: Your new boyfriend doesn't know about us!
Mimi: There's nothing to know...
Benny: Don't you think that we should discuss...?
Mimi: It was three months ago...
That makes it a bit less disgusting, methinks... But the movie played with it, I guess.
And um... Doesn't that mean Mimi would've given Mr. Landlord AIDS? Benny's supposed to be one of the half that doesn't have it... And sure it's never stated one way or the other, but I'm just sayin'. I think maybe Jonathon Larson wanted to puzzle us, even before the movie came out, to wonder if they were really together or not; I mean, Angel could've just lied to Muffy about Benny sleeping with Mimi to get him out of the picture. x3
It kind'a seems like Benny disappeared after the funeral scene in the movie... I mean, he's MENTIONED in the end in the theatre, but in the movie it's just like poof! Bye Benny. Unless you watch deleted scenes.
And to make this post even longer, I find it kind of funny how they even Benny out in the theatre and movie. In the theatre, he obviously states that he'll pay for Angel's funeral, and that gets him points in anyone's book, no? And that he'll pay for Mimi's rehab. It's not that obvious in the movie, it's not clearly stated unless you watch the deleted scenes. But in the movie, I always loved how in Without You, there was that part where Mimi was it looked like at the Cat Scratch, and Benny's visiting her, and she's just holding onto his arm looking like she's gonna cry. I dunno, that just looked like a... Best friend moment, if you will, how he was there for her.
But in the play, he pays for the funeral and Mimi, but it doesn't have that sentimental crap where he's comforting Mimi, and at the end it makes him out to be a cheating lapdog, the whole "Alison found out about Mimi" thing. See, it evens it out.
