It's funny that the definitions of a cult and religion are nearly identical in that they are very vague about it as well as having numerous definitions. It doesn't say anything about the size actually, other than a few definitions of it being a sect, but that most of the definitions claim that, unlike a religion, a cult is a group of extremists with an authoritarian as a leader.
So in those definitions you could say that a cult either isn't a religion at all, just a group of people with the same beliefs that are sometimes not even religious; a group of extremists that practice unorthodox or unscientific methods for certain rituals or for healing; or a group that is a sect off of a major religion.
I hate it when you get numerous definitions for one thing that are all completely different from each other. stare
