I don't believe in Tarot Cards. I feel that they are fuzzy and a prediction could apply to any one person because it's up to interpretation. I even read in a book on Tarot that you have to interpret the cards for yourself, anyhow. It's kind of like the daily horoscope--vague and generalized.

I like Tarot cards for the pretty pictures but nothing else. Call me a skeptic.

Heh, sort of a strange happening involving tarot cards. I had a deck back when I used to shoplift. I shuffled, asking what would happen if I kept shoplifting and then drew the one of the top. (That's not how you do a real reading, I know.) It's strange because the card that I drew was "justice." I got caught later that week.

I'm just stating my opinion when I say this (not trying to insult anyone): No deck of cards can predict/control your life. You are responsible for ALMOST everything that happens to you. Every action has a consequence.

Dragon_Witch_Woman
There are 78 cards in a tarot deck. Fifty-six of these are known as the minor arcana, twenty-two are known as the major arcana.

Each suit of the Minor Arcana has four court cards- King,Queen, Knight and Page.

The Major Arcana are numbered zero through twenty-one, starting with The Fool and ending with The World.

There are hundreds of different tarot decks from Lord of the Rings to Gummy Bear (both of which I have seen).

Each suit of the minor arcana has its own element; Wands-fire; Cups-water; Swords-air; Pentacles (or coins)-earth.

Each card (depending on deck) has two meanings, normal and reverse.

sometimes swords=fire and wands=air.

and it's not meant to predict/control anything, it's meant to help you understand what you already know.

Get rid of the Arcana, and you can use them as playing cards! Page=Jack, and assign each suit to pentacle, wand, sword, or cup!
I used the celtic formation and predicted my friends terrible life!

I agree with that. After receiving a prediction or whatever from tarot cards, you try to find things in your life so it seems right. Just like if you learn a new word, you suddenly hear it all the time. It's because you have a reason to take notice, is all. xp Tarot cards just let you make them right.

Tarot has always interested me.
My mother got into it, as well as the whole metaphysical realm, when I was about 3... I think.
I've had many readings done.... although not recently and I can't really remember their accuracy sweatdrop

I myself own two decks- The Rider Tarot Deck, and some unicorn themed thing I've never used. I'm not too good at reading the cards either. >.<

Oh my- I guess I'm not good at much.

I have done some interesting readings for an older friend of mine before though, with a card deck that wasn't exactly tarot... but it was similar. It was some angel deck, I believe.

I guess I think they're good for helping your life out, because if you're willing to open yourself to such possibilities as the tarot- you are more often willing to change yourself for the better.

I do believe that tarot can predict events. However I personally do not practice or try tarot. My reasoning is that I don't know what is out there. I find it ignorant to think that this is all there is and no spirit world that would try to communicate with us. (especially thinking about my personal experiences which we will not go into) However I do have two Oracle decks. I like the oracle decks better because they tell you more of things you should focus on trying to improve about yourself or add into your life. I do practice with them a lot and have told several people things about themselves that they didn't really want to speak about. *which again is another story for another time*

Never tried them. They sound pretty interesting though. Might have to get some. and have my friends over and do a reading or w/e. hahaha, would be interesting at least.

/It's just a phase/

Waaaay back when I first met this one girl, she had tarot cards and did a reading for me. I can't remember what she had to say- I wish I did. But this thread has definitely got me interested in them. I think tarot isn't necessarily perfectly accurate, but sometimes parts of it may apply. Likewise, people probably interpret them according to their own life, so one reading could mean one thing to the person who it's for, and could be seen as something different by one of their friends.

Has anyone ever seen Now and Then? That movie led my two friends and I to go to a graveyard in the middle of the night to have a seance (and get scared to death by her sister), and I just remembered that there was a scene with tarot cards in it. There it seems fairly accurate, but then again that was for dramatic effect. And now that I think about it I'm not sure if it was an actual reading or not.

/It's got to pass/
