She tried to smile again but the pain was still on her face. She watched him and knew he felt her sorrow.
"I told you, don't besorry. You did nothing wrong."
His whimper sturred something strange inside of her, something she hadn't felt in a long time. Slowly, Eri movedcloser to him and reached towards his ears. She let her clawed fingers scratch behind them gently.
" Life is unfair to us all. We think we've escaped from it's twisted clutches but we only fall vitcim to another tragedy. However, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger."

Erik loved when people would scratch behind his ears, it was relaxing and felt good, but this time, he felt no comfort, just an empty feeling in his heart.
"However, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger." Eri said. To Erik, that had to be one of the biggest lies ever. He replied "No it doesn't." Wanting to further elaborate, he told Eri about his grandmother, or as he called her, Nana. Erik loved his grandma very much, for she was one of the few people back home who understood him. He also told Eri about the accident: how his grandmother fell down her basement stairs, damaged her brain, was in a coma for nine months before dying, and how he never got to say his goodbyes, or even see her once while she was in a coma.
When he finished, he couldn't hold it in any longer. He instinctively curled up next to Eri and started to cry, which he hadn't done in a long time. Laying in a curled up position, he sounded like a beaten puppy.

Eri was stunned. This boy whom she just met had poured his heart out to her. She felt deep sorrow for him and wished she could comfort him. eri did what she knew best, she petted him gently as he curled up to her. As she stroked his soft fur, she hummed a soothing tune her mother use to hum whenever Eri was afraid of sleeping. She hated to see others unhappy. Eri had lived her life in misery and couldn't bare to know other were suffering and she couldn't help them.

At first, when Eri started to pet him, Erik curled up tightened in a defensive manner, but he found it and the tune she was humming soothing and he loosened up.
After what must've been 10 minutes, Erik slowly raised his head up from behind his thick tail, his eyes still watering. He then slowly got himself back into a sitting position. Only then did he realize how pathetic he must've looked. Twiddling his thumbs and looking straight down at the floor, he asked Eri in a quiet voice "So, um, wh-what sort of things do you like to do?" He was desparately trying to act like nothing had just happened. He hated when people saw when he had breakdowns, he thought they would think he was a loser or a baby because of it.

Seeing his discomfort, either in his own behavior or what she was doing, Eri didn't say anything when he pulled away.
" I like reading and drawing. I think dancing is fun too." she said.
She looked at him with a concerned look on her face.
"What do you like to do?"
