I guess I have never thought of the sex being the plot. And you are right, the sex was different in ID and I did enjoy several of the new developments in the sex. I can't wait until everyone gets a chance to read the book because it will be fun to see what everyone thinks of the new developments. I guess I should just go and post my opinions in the ID spoilers page and get my thoughts off my chest. whee

LOL
I would do the same if I couldn't already guess most people's opinions about the sex. The majority think it's a waste of time. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, though smile

Well if it makes any difference to you, through several of your posts, you have made me rethink my opinion about all the sex and the more I think about it, the more I am ok with having more sex in the books. I still jones for more action and violence, but I am just that kind of person. Violence and action get me ready for the sex scenes. But of course that is just me. wink

I think Incubus Dreams has very little plot but I love how all the characters are developing and Anita's relationships are becoming easier and difficult. I still hope in the next book that there's more action and horror...

(I didn't want to describe too much in case you haven't gotten to read it yet.) Oh and I also loved the Gabriel fantasy of Anita and how she made him die happy.

I'm glad you said that biggrin It's not exactly that I want people to conform or anything. . .but it's nice to have your opinion shared, especially since it seems I'm in the minority with a lot of my thoughts.

well you definitely changed my opinion and opened my mind to another way of thinking.
Thank you for that. It has made me learn to love all of Anita, not just my favorite parts. It has also made me realize that maybe some of the parts I judged harshly because they didn't fit into what I was looking for, are now some of my favorite parts. heart

Thanks so much for the compliment, or at least I take it as one wink It's always a good thing to broaden your thinking habit and become more open minded. Glad I could finally level with someone, lol.

It is most definitely a compliment. I think of myself as very openminded and am proud to be the most liberal person I know, and then something will come to my attention and it will make me realize that I am not as open as I thought. redface
These books are a very good example of that. I am usually all about sex and love sex for sex sake. I really liked Anne Rice's Beauty series and that is all that is. Hard core sex with a little plot thrown around to make it interesting. But for some reason I was very upset when the sex started playing a bigger and bigger role in Anita's world. I really didn't understand why I was upset, because I love the Merry series and it flat out says at the beginning, get ready because this is all about sex. It has, in fact, turned out to be more about the plot than about the actual sex.
But when Narcissus in Chains started the whole plot swing towards sex, I just became confused and unsure how I felt about the books. But now I see it as just another part of Anita.
I think what would make me happy though, is not necessarily take out the amount of sex, but just put back the amount of action and police story surrounding the sex. I don't really think it was the sex that bothered me as much as the action disappearing and becoming the background story instead of the main plot. Yeah I think that is my main concern. I want more action, blood & gore, and violence.
It scares me in the last books, especially ID that she is talking like she doesn't want to do the police work anymore. She is getting burned out. I am wondering if it isn't LKH who is getting burned out on the police/violence/storyline bit, which is why she is depending more and more on the sex and the character development for her books.
My this turned into a long post. xp

kayrei_lin Supposedly, Anita and crew are going home to Anita's dad's place for Thanksgiving or some such holiday in the next book. Won't that be interesting? I, for one, really liked Incubus Dreams, and thought the character development added so much more to the story. There was a lot of sex, but at least it was well written, eh? Nothing stupid or cheesy like those romances we all hate to love. Or is it love to hate? Anyways, there is more sex than plot in ID, but there is definitely a plot. JMHO, however. I feel the same way, lol... there are so many people that dont like that she is putting in more romance and such, lol, but i think that even though she has been putting more romance in the books, there is still plot, and i def think that the character building is good too, lol. Its a good mix .

russetm It's alot of sex and character development and not too much plot. Exactly! but with the newer ones LKH is starting to cut back on the sex. but i would like to see her start with the police work again and the whole mystery!
