Haha, it would be neat. I had researched a bunch of things on the Roma and everything, even a few words >.> if you ever need a sight with a lot of info about Roma/Gypsies, I can link you to the site I was reading.

I do want to get my first quest character done though before I even start really working on a new one, you know XD But if I decide to go for a secondary...hey, you can never have enough Roma. wink

And I did like the story that corresponded to her being in the US. Old immigration laws are tough to find, I bet. -pats- Good luck!

Actually... I've been trying for a gypsy for like... ever... and it changed to a Greek gypsy after my time in Greece.

There are a few things, though, that I think you might want to consider. Even though most of my knowledge is about Greece, there were MANY Romanians and papers I read about them and their immigrations and lifestyles in the years since the 1950s.

+ It sounds like her family was on their own during this time in a bigger city. One thing about the Balkans is that they are VERY family orientated. When people moved into cities at the time of the World Wars, communism rule, and the Balkan wars soon after (I think the Romanians sided with the Bulgarians for that war... during communist rule... that side lost), people really stuck together... Many many people went back to their family villages. Those that didn't still had connections. People starved, but more than likely were killed by the government directly... like Daci's dad.

+ Daci was an only child? I am having a hard time with that one.... Balkan people pretty much always tried for large families. It was better for relations, help around the house, etc. Even today, male children are pined for. Sure, they love their daughters, but dowries still -illegally- exist... and that's even more money they'd need.

+ How did Daci and her mom get the money to go to the USA? You have it that she raised money.... but that much money in only... a year? That's kind of sketchy. She might have gotten family help... but even then, they would try to get one of the larger families.

+ Immigration... yeah, was common... but as you found in that artical, it was mostly those that could somehow bring something to the US government. Either that, or they would try to get with family members that immigrated back in the 20s. Because it was an ex-communist country they were 'more likely' but also 'less likely' if they didn't have something to give.

+ NYC - I am trying to remember, but I don't know if this was a big immigration city for Eastern Europe immigrants. I know Boston, Philadelphia, and Chicago, were pretty common. And they almost ALWAYS went into communities in the city where they would -in this case- find other Romanians. Pride is another huge thing.... her mother would have kept alive the Romanian heritage in her daughter... and they would be in a part of the city where other Romanian immigrants would be.

Carnies... I don't know a whole lot about them... as I usually focused on gypsies in the USA. They usually stayed away from working in carnivals. But carnies are kind of 'evolved gypsies'. Even then, I don't know about the loyalties and ties they would have xD

#2 - I would probably put that.... maybe her mom had some medical problems or something that would make it almost impossible for her to carry a baby to full term?

#4 - How early was early for "early Romanian immigrants"? 1980's seems veeeeeery recent for immigrants ><

No worries. I would personally like to see more specifically about the culture, since Daci became so interested in it.... but that could just be the anthroplogist in me talking.

Was bored and added in an art I forgot to add in, re-read and edited some of Daci's profile. Have yet to find much on immigration in 1989 that makes any sense XD
