I remember reading somewhere a long time ago about the oboe making people go insane because of the vibrations from the reed being directed to your brain. Probably not true, but still amusing, since i'm an oboist and i've been diagnosed with bipolar and the like.

La Fantome de le opera MadameLaFantome Kyna Chan fatcheehcs not a myth just funny story. bd had a student that literally left her flute out, don't remember why. next time that she finally brought it to school this huge roach crawled out. i've heard of the trombone fireworks one. if you've heard of the show "mythbusters" they tested it, and i don't remember waht happen but the trombone wasn't even dented from the tests. was cool. 
yea, the myth was "busted"
but it was still fun to watch them tear apart a trombone!
Awww! I wanna see that episode. I LOVE mythbusters! They blew up a trombone?!?!?! i love myth busters but i have never seen that one too bad it sounds good...

yea when we were in fifth grade and first trying out instruments our director said not only a bug but many bugs crawled out of someones trumpet yuk!

The mythbusters episode where they blew up the trombone was hlarious.
My middle school bd told us a few stories, one being that he accidentally made his tromboe sldie go flying, another of maggots in someones reed, moldy instruments, etc.

My middle school bd told us a few stories, one being that he accidentally made his tromboe sldie go flying, another of maggots in someones reed, moldy instruments, etc. maggots would not be found in a reed....flies intentionally look for rotting meat. and not just any rotting meat, it has to be a decently thick piece of meat. a reed is neither meat nor thick. maggots would not be found in or on a reed, unless that reed was around a thick slab of rotten meat.
