i have to do those too, and i must say, drill writers do NOT consider the shorter people!! crying in our opener, i have to jazz run backwards in 12 counts going at 156 (for a normal sized person, its ok, but i'm very short -_-' ). i also have to do a bunch of other weird moves like the ones mentioned in this thread.

we never had horribly hard drill stuff. most ppl got it but the stupid freshman never get it fast enough and they forget it anyway. its quite stupid.

Our drill is crazy too. I have to slide 4 to 5 at 160. Then in other spots I go 1.5 steps in 18 counts and 2 steps in 20 counts. There are a few moves where my t-bone is almost vertical to let people go in front of me. We have a company front with 5 people between each yard line and in the last move two curves combine into one in five beats at 160. We're really close together and I have to move at a backwards angle about five yards. If you person is off the whole thing could be screwed up. Oh, in one of the songs the tempo is insanely slow, 60 beats per minute.

the drill writer for my college band isn't necessarily crazy, just totally annoying and completely miffing the clarinets and pics. he put us in the back and is using us to push around props for half the show. this guy had earlier said that he'd put us in the front, where we'd be more easily heard. but no. he had to put us in the back where we weren't playing heard or could play. arghhhhhh! just totally aggravating. stressed

Mine are just as nuts. In every set that's not a block, A freshman sets the form! Every show the sets were off a yard or two until last week

At F.B.A (Florida Bandmasters Association) our visual judge is going to be our drill writer.. Drill writers are crazy, but ours is really good I think. Our show is nice, but I have to do some crazy stunts on one of our percussion features.
