#92 Black Hole Shot (3) - The Black Hole Shot sucks into it matter, energy and light. Where it is fired it can inhale 9 points worth of damage from spell magic, castor shell or physical attack. If fired at an outsider or monster, it sucks at their person or body, dealing 9 points of damage that cannot be blocked.

User Image
#4 Heal Radius (0) - The Heal Radius releases a warm green light that drops in a sphere around the castor for a radius of 5 feet and heals all those within reach of the Heal Radius 5 points of damage.

Aquired: At All Hallow's Eve Fieldtrip.
Reason: Rolled a 92 and a 4 in the Free-for-all Dice Roll Task.

Well, now you've got 2 Castor Shells, but how to use them? You'll need to pick up a Castor Gun equip and get yourself more shells!

Dear Diary,

Antigone here, obviously! Decided that I should start keeping one of these. Good writing practice. Plus, if I get all my private thoughts down here, I'll have more room in my head for important things, likes notes and such.

First off, I've decided that I love Aysel. Not sure how or when it happened, but I do love her. I don't know if she knows or not though. It's something that worries me, because I know she feels quite a bit for Ubel, and I don't want to make her have to choose.

Second off, the paint ball wars were so much fun! I finally met Grave, and he seems like a good sport. I'm not quite sure why Ay-chan dislikes him so. He shot at me a lot, but I shot back, and gave me quite a few points. Speaking of points, I got MVP for my team! We won castor guns, and I got a pet! His name is Archimedes, and he's an owl. I really like him, but he doesn't like it when I hug him and such. He's very snarky. He thinks he's my conscience, the silly bird. Oh, he just made a displeased noise at me. Apparently he can read.

Thirdly, I got an apprenticeship! I'm an Editor, a perfect job for me! Profresser Dameron is my mentor, but I've only seen him once or twice in the halls. He's very pretty, like Professer Elias, but I don't think he likes knowing that others think he's pretty, so I'll keep my opinion to myself. I have to get to work though. I've just been busy with the paintball wars. I wish it hadn't ended, I really liked it.

Though I feel bad because I hit Ubel in the chest... He says it doesn't still hurt, but I know it does. He rubs at the spot sometimes, when he thinks no one is looking. Maybe I'll mention it to Grave, or someone who can do something about it.

Ta-ta, for now.

Aquired: From Paintball Wars.
Reason: Most individual Points scored for Team Two.

You scored the most individual points for Team Two! Congratulations!! As a token of how very impressed I was by your performance, I'd like to present you with this Cicus Pet. His name is Archimedes, and he's very special. Unlike most Cicus pets that can only communicate with their masters, Archimedes can speak out loud, and he's very intelligent.
Archimedes: What? What? Who? Of course I'm intelligent you dimwit!!
Er, he's a tad ornery though... Archimedes can tell you information about your opponents, similar to the Biquintile spell. He also has the unique ability of being able to remember spells, so if you learn a spell while he's around, he'll remember it too. While he himself can't catch magic, his spell knowledge could come in useful in a tight spot...

Castor Gun (shells not included)
Equips to: Item Equip.
Aquired: In Paintball Wars.
Reason: For being on the Winning Team.

The Castor Gun is only useful with Castor Shells. These magically treated shells serve all manner of purposes, everything from lighting flares to blowing a hole in the sound barrier. The number of Shells allowed to be held by an Empyrean s based on the Empyrean's Stage. Stage Zero - 3 shells, Stage One - 5 shells, Stage Two - 7 shells, Stage Three - 10 shells. When Shells are used up in battle, duels or travel, they cannot be replaced until the fight is over. Certain types of shells are restricted to certain Stages or locations. See Abrid's page for the list of Shells.

Ta-da, another journal entry! I recieved Archimedes, my beautiful owl pet. He's very bossy. Er, that is to say, he's very aggressive in telling me what to do trying to help me become a better, more intelligent person. I apprecaite his efforts, I really do- dont you snap your beak at my like that- but I think he needs to be tempered a little. I'll do it with love~

Oh goodness, presents! I wonder who the other two presents are from... I bought a fair amount of presents for others. Oh, I hope they like them! Archimedes says that I shouldn't worry so much about what other people think, but I just tell him to hush most of the time. Such a silly, pretty little bird he is.

Oh, that set him off. Now he's chattering at me about respect. You'd think that he was my mother or something...

Anyway! Thanks to everyone for getting me presents! You're all lovely.

Happy holidays,

Antigone

Oh goodness! That's the second time I've started a journal entry with that phrase, but... Oh goodness! The presents I got are so pretty! Of course, I got three of the same thing. Archimdedes says I should appreciate them for the thought. And I do, you mean old bird. Go away, and stop reading my journal! I do appreciate them, really I do. It's just... they're all the same thing. Aside from the pendant Ay got for me, which I'm wearing it right now.

I hope that everyone else liked their gifts... I don't know anyone very well, aside from Aysel, but I wanted to get Ubel and Grave and Torrid something, because they all seem so interesting, and I'd really like to be friends with them.

More later,

Antigone

Well, Ubel and I traded Yule presents. Since I had gotten three of the same knife, and he had gotten two of the same wand, we traded. I kept Aysel's knife, though. Archimedes says that I'm smitten, but I don't mind. I love Aysel.

I'm pleased that I have an Owl Wand now, because it reminds me of Archimedes. I love him too, even if he does hoot loudly in his sleep.

It's been a while since I've been able to snag some free time to sit down with my quill and empty my head of all the thoughts that have been bouncing about within it. Archimedes says that my head is full of fluff, and is never empty, but I've learned to tune out his nagging. You'd think, after being with me for some time now, he'd have warmed up to me. Unless he's one of those perverse creatures that insults you the more he likes you? If that's true, then I doubt even Aysel loves me as much as Archimedes. He's such a silly bird.

See how I ramble? I really do need to set my thoughts to paper more often. To start off with, last month, in January, everyone had to go on scavenger hunt looking for Nob, an escaped Furfur. Lior, a new Sanguine boy, was the one who found him, and I must say, I'm not entirely sure I envy him. Nob is... well, he's sort of disturbing. In an odd way? I'm not sure if there is a correct word for what Nob is. Still, I hope he doesn't give Lior too much trouble...

This month, February, everyone was helping Professora Tryna look for her accursed love potion, Erros' Arrow. In the end, it was found, and much drama ensued. Lus and Tryna loved one another, but it seemed as the Gregor the Hated was going to put an end to that by giving the potion to Tryna so that she loved him...

Personally, I don't care. Everything seemed to work out in the end, but Aysel still carries the marks of Gregor the Hated's temper, and I want him to pay for it. No one seems to care that because of love, of all things, my love was hurt. My blood simply boils just thinking about it. Gregor the Hated is an adult, and even more than that, he is a Stage 3, and makes weapons so that other's may protect themselves and the city from Outsiders and the like. And yet he dares to lay hands upon a Stage Zero with the intent to harm? No, it's not right. And I will not stand for it.

I... need to go calm down now, I think. Perhaps I'll go lay in a snow bank until my temper cools.

(( ItsaidIwasallowedtopost! xD ::will delete if wanted to:: This was actually supposed to be posted before I went to bed at like, three..but my internet died while I was writing it. ))

It was the morning of the 14th, early enough that it was still quite dark out as Aysel made her way as silently as possible to the room of her Sanguine lover. Anxious as always about being out at such a time of night (what if she was found?), she hadn't even worn shoes- too noisy. In her right hand, she carried a small unlit lantern, while her left clutched a small parcel to her chest. Her heart was thudding in such a noisy and uneven pattern that she honestly worried that it would waken somebody, but finally, she reached her destination.

Slipping a dull crimson parchment envelope from its spot in her pocket, she peered about for a moment, pressed it to her heart and then her lips, and placed it gently just before the door. Soon to follow it were the parcel (containing chocolates wrapped in quotes of her own choosing, and topped with a golden bow) and the lantern, which was now revealed to contain a small glass butterfly, as well as the (carefully rolled-up) finished work of the portrait she'd done of Antigone so many days ago. It was only after all of this was laid out before her that Aysel began to worry that it was too much...but ah, it was too late now. She hoped that it didn't make her look too horribly clingy..

Her task done, she smiled nervously at the door, half wanting to go inside and half wanting to scoop the gifts back up and flee. She did neither, however, choosing instead to blow a kiss silently to her sleeping love and head back to her own room for the night.

The Envelope

My Dearest Antigone,
I had intended to write you a poem,
But could find no words more melodious than the sound of your voice,
No rhythem more perfect than the steady rise and fall of your chest when you sleep,
No imagery that could ever hope to rival your impossible beauty.

In my hand, I hold your hand; In your heart
lies mine;my heart sings the blessings of your
love-our lives yet forever intertwined.

I love you so, my sweet heartfire.

Yours,
Aysel

I am not where I should be.

I am not in the classroom.

I am not even in my room.

I am in the gardens. I had hoped that perhaps the beauty, the calm and simple presence of flowers would calm me down.

But...

My hands... They are shaking, as I write this. My voice, were I to speak, would shake as well. What have I done? The question... it haunts me. Taunts me. Running over and over again within my mind, forcing me to relive my foolish, utterly ridiculous actions.

My heart insists I did the correct thing. And perhaps I did. Yes, perhaps I did the right thing. But my mind- my academics mind- continues to ask: Did I do the smart thing?

And the answer is a very loud, firm, and final NO. No, Antigone, you did not do the smart thing. What you did, Antigone, was, put simply. the stupidest move of your short existence within the City. Of all the classes to walk out of in protest of another's actions, you choose to walk away from learning the Law.

But I did the right thing! I want to scream it, to make it real. I did the right thing, and I will not apologize for that. I will not repent for a sin I did not commit. I will not be contrite and apologize for standing up for a fellow student- for a friend. I will not be sorry when it is the professor who was in the wrong.

I can still here the cracks of the wand across Torrid's palms. And worse... I can the see calm, self-righteous look Bardane wore as he inflicted the pain.

Pain should never be used to teach. Pain is a harsh lesson that all will learn, over and over again- I agree with the professor that far, at least. But it should not be used by those who are meant to protect us, to teach us, and teach us to protect ourselves, those around us, and our City. He's a professor of the Law. Which is supposed to be our ultimate protector.

The irony, the hypocrisy, it leaves a sour taste in my mouth. So soon after Aysel had been injured... Oh, Gregor hadn't been a professor. Hadn't that been on of Ay's defenses of him to me? He had been under no obligation to keep the young Zeros safe. The man makes weapons. His life is helping others protect themselves, and the ones around them. But Bardane... he is a professor. And what was his excuse?

It would happen anyway. As if that justifies his actions. I can feel my blood boiling again, just thinking about it. Death will happen. That does that mean that when someone is born, they are killed. Everyone will feel pain, experience loss. But that does not- and should not- mean that others willingly hand it out to others, and call it a teaching tool.

And in the end, I am brought back to the same question: Did I, or did I not do the right thing?

And the answer?

Yes, Antigone. You did the right thing.

And I can- will- live with that.

Bardane
As the students clustered in the hall and discussed their suspicions and fears, Professor Bardane approached down the hallway, his hoofs click-clicking on the stone tile.

"Greetings children," He addresses you, his voice crisp and cool as always. "Any progress on this search?"

Post this in the Teacher's Lounge, address Bardane in Character.

Well done in finding this Fourth clue! It disturbs me that this spy has been able to so effortlessly copy my gestures and manner of speech. A further concern for our Chorus. Please continue to stay on guard and alert us at the slightest hint or clue.

As a token of our Gratitude, please take this
