Tufani carefully looked over the holes that the male had dug into the ground, as if she were weighing the most important decision in her life. "I suppose, with planning, I could section off part of the herd. And I do have five siblings to help feed. You're probably right." she said, looking at Toshiro and smiling gently. "Thank you for teaching me what to do."

"Oh, it's no problem at all." Padding towards a herd of rather swift-footed gazelle, the piebald lion smiled. "And there we shall find food." Moving carefully around the herd, Toshiro was soon running at them just right so that they would bolt towards Tufani and, as a result, the holes. Does and fawns alike were naturally startled by the sudden appearance of the charging adult lion.

Tufani, crouched low to the ground when she saw Toshiro running toward the herd of gazelle. If his plan worked, the piebald lion would have helped feed her mother and siblings. And Tufani was quite grateful for this. She watched carefully, until a particularly old doe stumbled into one of the holes. Tufani could see that no fawn came rushing back for the gazelle; the rest of the herd seemed too frightened by the sudden appearance of one adult lion and one nearly-adult lion rushing to the hole when the coast was clear. The lioness was careful not to stumble into the hole herself, and made quick work of clawing the gazelle's throat.
Tufani silently thanked the stars for a successful hunt before dragged the gazelle out of the hole and looked for Toshiro to come back.

Skidding across the ground, the piebald male's sides heaved as he watched the old doe go down. Worked every time... Trotting over, his silver-tipped tail twitched. "An old one... And so a piece of the circle is complete..." He nodded, then bowed his head to the fallen beast. Growing up surrounded by death, one learned to respect it.
Smiling at the lioness, he went over and started filling the holes back in. "There... Now others won't fall in." Patting it down with his paws, it soon simply looked as though meerkats had been through on a foraging expedition. "One must remember to fill them back in once the hunt is finished. That way, prey beasts don't fall left and right and every which way."

Tufani nodded as she listened to the rogue. "Of course...if we did not fill the holes in, the circle would suggest that eventually we'd fall into one of our own holes."
She couldn't help but smile a bit longer than usual at the lion before her attention turned back to the gazelle. "She was old...I am glad that she was the one to fall rather than one of the young ones. It doesn't seem fair, sometimes...though I know that the young must fall as well, I wish the circle didn't have to turn so quickly at times. But I am glad to have met you, Toshiro. I do hope that I see you again." She said. These were strange feelings...she wasn't sure where they came from. She'd have to ask Jani what it meant later.

A chuckle escaped the dark male. "And then there's those that make the circle arche widely as they outlive their friends and even children into very ripe old age, proving to break from the norm... But yes, the circle must spin fast at times. The weak perish without a thought from those around them besides their mothers..." He paused. "Except with elephants... They mourn the dead even if they knew them not." Shaking his fur out, Toshiro bowed to the lioness. "And I do hope to see you again as well, hurricane of the planes. I must bid you ado and head on my way." Smiling at her in a charming way, he turned and padded off after the gazelle herd. Would he return? Who knew... Only the rise and fall of the sun and the turning of the great circle of life would know and tell.

"Farewell," Tufani said, almost at a whisper, as she watched the lion run off, disappearing as mysteriously as he had appeared. She had learned so much that night, but so much still remained a mystery to her. She hadn't felt this wierd about a rogue leaving before. What was going on? Why wasn't she paying attention to the hard-earned gazelle carcass? Shaking her head, she grabbed the gazelle and began the journey back home. She had a lot to talk about when she got there.
