Remi grinned at him with understanding. Poor guy, having only had Admon for company, and no child to take care of yet. She would probably have been lonely too.
"Don't worry about it," she assured him. "I don't mind the blathering. I mean, it's nice to talk to someone who can form complete sentences every once in a while."
She pointed toward a nearby cabinet outside the bathroom. "Care to blather onward while I get a towel for Gavin?"

"You're very kind," was all he murmured, still a bit embarrassed, but then - "Er, how do you bath him, now that I think about it? Does he mind getting his... feathers wet?" (Not that Carver had any idea on how one bathed birds, either.) "I suppose they dry out?"

"I think he minds getting them wet alot," Remi smiled sheepishly, pulling a beige towel from the cabinet. "That's probably why he tries to get out of baths all the time along with the built-in toddler aversion to cleanliness."
In truth, Remi didn't know how to wash a bird either. However, she couldn't just let Gavin become a pile of dirt and grime, so she had to wash him like any other normal toddler. Just with a lot more screaming and running around. So far none of the feathers have fallen out, so she must being doing something right.
"Usually they just dry themselves out like hair or anything else. I'd imagine they'd get more difficult to clean as they got bigger."

"I know birds tend to clean themselves, er, manually," said Carver doubtfully, padding after Remi as they made their way to the bathroom armed with towel. "And considering Gavin doesn't have a beak - maybe some kind of modified comb. Just to get the dust out. And - "
Hadn't somebody in Frankie's family owned a cockatiel?
" - ah, that's it. A water-bottle - a plant mister."
