((I was away, busy with IRL stuff. As I posted in the OOC thread. rolleyes Still am, technically, real life picked a damn good time to slam me with everything at once and the possibility of another Gaialess period is very real.))
"Because this is fun~!"
As Raine's energy is pushed away by the purification, Kyetino's own energy leaks into the ground through the staff, creating a thin slowly-spreading "film" of energy just under the surface.

One...Two...Three.."
Slowly, she counted, her grey eyes trailing along the ground, measuring the distance between her and her opponent. Her opponent was still enveloped in the rock walls she had created earlier, making it so Raine had no physical way of attacking her, unless a way may be found to bypass the walls. But as far as now goes, Raine didn't have a plan for getting around them. Raine was aware of her opponent's actions with the energy, considering it was easy enough for her to sense other's energy. The grey aura around Raine began to become darker and darker as time passed, turning a blackened colour. Raine couldn't do much, but wait and see what her opponent would do. Preferably, she hoped her opponent would stop hiding behind those walls and fight her Hand-to-hand, though she doubted that would happen.

Just underneath the surface of the stone, and hidden from sight because of this, the film of energy spreading across the stadium begins to coalesce and take the shapes of arcane symbols; if anyone could see it, they would think it to be an unpredictable and nonsensical amalgam of magic circles and runes of power.
Kyetino, lifting her staff, begins to carefully engrave symbols of an ancient language on the inside of her hidey-hole, her staff carving the letters into the stone as easily as a knife carves in Jello, except more permanent.

((What is the radius of the energy currently flowing from you?))
Well, this was annoying. Raine had been standing there for quite some time just waiting, and she wasn't exactly a very patient person. Her opponent apparently had no intentions of coming out to fight her in a more courageous way, though it didn't matter much to her. She grew tired of this actionless battle, longing for some bloodshed. Preferably her opponent's blood. Raine simply held her right hand out slightly from her side, the dark aura still completely enveloping her body. In her right hand, a shadow began to form, elongating and taking the shape of a sword. The sword began to show more detail in time, actually taking on the form of a rather large blade. Her blade was an Odachi that she had given the title "Kanashimi" meaning sadness. The blade was about 5 and 1/2 feet long, the blade was a blackish colour. She gripped the hilt of the blade as it appeared, smiling to herself. It was time to end this game of Hide-and-Seek. Raine simply took a step towards where the girl was, her sword held out slightly to her side. Her eyes gleamed as she did so. Suddenly, she stopped, and clasped her hands together with the handle of the sword in between them. Immediately she began to chant something in a hushed voice, her aura growing even more fierce around her as she did so.

((30-50 feet, spreading quickly.))
As Kyetino finishes scrawling the symbols, she taps the wall and then the stone; the wall doubles in height, and the top half (the part which had been exposed prior to this part and been carved in) falls, sinking into the ground but leaving the runes, which meld smoothly into the ground and vanish. The ground beneath Airiza is briefly and suddenly surrounded by mana as the spell executes, before the ground beneath her very feet suddenly begins to recede, sinking or more accurately "falling" into the ground as if the things holding it up had suddenly been removed and dominion over it given to gravity. The edges of the sinking island are four feet from Airiza at the closest to her, and she will need to cover at least that distance (plus any upward movement to compensate for the falling) to once more reach stable ground.
The expanding spell continues to grow, with no regard to these events.

"Oh cra-.."
Raine suddenly began to fall. She didn't know how or why, but she was falling, and that was never a good sign. Abrubtly, she shot out her right arm downwards, her left hand gripping her right wrist to keep it steady. Underneath her, a small ledge of dark energy appeared beneath her feet, stopping her fall rather abrubtly. She raised her right hand, in a fashion of almost beckoning the ledge of dark energy to do her bidding. The dark energy lifted her up and out of the hole, bringing her back to the safety of solid ground. She sighed, and her right hand shot out again, a long stream of more dark energy flying out of it. The dark energy would abrubtly latch itself all over the rocks that still enveloped her, literally covering it in little blotches of dark energy. Suddenly, the dark energy began to pulsate, which would most likely be unnoticeable to her opponent. It spread out a few inches, now pulsating faster. Raine narrowed her eyes and snapped her fingers, the blotches of dark energy all over the rocks suddenly exploding in massive forces of energy, sort've like little blotches of C4. Most likely, this would blow through the rock entirely, considering there was a lot of power packed into one of these little things. Since there was almost a certain chance this would create an opening..any opening, even a small one, Raine would abrubtly shoot forward, hovering slightly above the ground on a small ledge of dark energy. When she would near her opponent, she would abrubtly thrust her sword through any of the holes within the rock wall, impaling her opponent.

((Basically, what Kyetino did here is fake you the hell out. The earth shell was very magic-resistant, so the dark energy wouldn't really have done anything, but she faked it to draw you in. The sound of sand shifting after the taps was the swift assembly of a shoddy body double (detailed enough to trick Raine, who is unfamiliar with her appearance and can see very little of her body through the holes which were also engineered by Kyetino) which would convince Raine that Kyetino was unable to move or react, as well as helping to block the real Kyetino from being seen through those holes. During and after the explosions, Kyetino crumbled the side Raine couldn't see and escaped out that side, retreating only a few feet and not standing at her full height (thus ensuring that Raine wouldn't see her), and dropped the ground where she'd been, leaving only a brittle fake floor with the brittle fake Kyetino on it. The rest is a bit of fairly simple earth magic used in small amounts to great effect.))
As the energy splatters across the rock, three taps can be audibly heard from within the shell as well as the sound of sand shifting; after it explodes, accompanied by a rumbling sound, the shell appears to be badly damaged. There is some degree of collapse on the side facing away from Raine, although how much is almost impossible to tell from this angle. As for the side facing Raine, it appears to have been brought almost to the brink of crumbling, and looks like a good push would be more than enough to finish the job; the rock on Kyetino's left and right seems pretty stable, but it's difficult to tell for sure from Raine's current vantage point. However, her first objective has been fulfilled - there are a couple of holes in the side facing Raine, and a surprised-looking Kyetino seems frozen in shock for the split-second it takes for Raine to charge.
Raine's sword and hand go effortlessly through the almost perfectly-sized hole and right into Kyetino's abdomen, causing her to apparently crumble into dust. Oh, and suddenly there isn't any space around Raine's arm anymore, the hole closed on her as soon as she solidly pierced Kyetino's body. Oh, and the wall, which incidentally seems extremely heavy for its size and feels like a big old car stuck to Raine's forearm and also appears to be magic-resistant (as she'll find if she attempts to destroy it with her dark energy), is now falling. The central section of the shell on that side, which Raine is trapped in, breaks from the rest and begins to fall on where Kyetino had been standing...and keeps on going, right through the ground, into...another pitfall of indeterminate depth but which is obviously more than ten feet.
As the massive weight now stuck to Raine's arm (and making her sword nearly useless) yanks her down and forward into the pit within the former bounds of the decimated barrier, she might catch glimpses of three things. First, the other side of the shell, the one which was opposite from her from the beginning, is almost completely gone. Second, Kyetino is about five feet past the pit on the side away from Raine, squatting down with one hand on the ground and the other grasping her staff. Third, the remaining areas of the shell (now on the left and right only of the pit from her perspective) seem to be wiggling or squiggling.
The spell expansion halts momentarily.

Raine had indeed been tricked, and had played right into the enemy's plan. Perhaps, this foe was more clever than she had ever taken her to be. Either way, she had a problem. Her carelessness might have just caused her to lost. Raine had smirked so confidently when her sword pierced Kyetino. She was sure she had won. But suddenly, she knew something was wrong when the rock closed around her arm like a vice... She knew immediately that she had screwed up. She heard a cracking sound, and suddenly began to fall. Her angry, gray eyes glanced up in time to see Kyetino crouched low to the ground, just sitting there. Raine had a pretty good idea of what this girl had done, but she just had never expected something like this from an opponent of this sort. Raine was falling and her arm felt like it was going to be ripped off with the weight of the wall. Her body was being dragged down, and it would be impossible to even think of grabbing onto the walls to stop her fall. With this weight tugging on her, she was going to for sure fall all of the way at an extremely fast rate. Although it looked to her like the end, an idea suddenly popped into her demented mind. It wasn't too late..She could still win. She hadn't yet reached ten feet in her fall, but was nearing too quickly. Abrubtly, her sword vanished from her right hand in less than a second. Her left hand shot downwards beneath her. She knew that her dark energy didn't do a whole lot to this wall, but it didn't mean she still couldn't use it to her advantage. Beneath her, an extremely thick ledge of dark energy appeared, although it wasn't completely solid. At the rate she was falling, stopping abrubtly would be very damaging to the body. Instead, the wall with her arm still stuck in it and her body crashed into the ledge of dark energy that had been created underneath her. The good part was that she had made it to be very much like the substance of Jell-O or rubber. It would be a rather soft fall, and too much damage most likely wouldn't be taken. Raine breathed a sigh of relief. She had saved herself..For now. But she wasn't out of this situation quite yet. She began to raise the ledge of dark energy underneath her, slowly coming closer and closer to the top of the pit. Raine panted slightly, beads of sweat trickling down her forehead and an intense look of concentration was in her eyes. She kept her eyes up the whole time, concentrating on several things at once. She figured most likely Kyetino would try to prevent her from coming out of this pit, so she was wary. Oh, and if Kyetino tried to pull a little move of throwing those other two walls of rock on her head, she would merely throw a rather large amount of energy upwards towards them, pushing them up and out of her way..All the way out of the pit. If Raine should make it out of the pit without any unfortunate incidents, she would merely use the ledge to float a ways away from Kyetino. Abrubtly, she would stretch out her left hand and her sword Kanashimi would appear. Pointing the sword towards the rock wall, she would merely shove it through the rock, the sword being sharper than anything most people would have seen. It really shouldn't have any problem cutting through stone, considering her sword's not exactly made of normal materials. Although, none of the materials in her sword were magical either..Just made of a substance unknown to most beings. Raine would cut all the rock away from her arm, using a small amount of dark energy around her arm as shielding from the sword's sharp point. If she should successfully saw away all the stone, she would merely stand there, recovering her strength and planning her next move.

When Kyetino sees Raine stop herself, she activates the spell that'd been spreading across the arena - with some minor modifications. A large-scale earth creation/shaping spell, it was originally intended to turn the entire arena into a semirandom enclosed cave with extremely difficult terrain - however, reshaping the entire arena is no longer necessary, leaving her to find a new purpose for a spell able to create enough stone to fill the majority of the arena. And it's pretty obvious to her what she wants to do with it.
Suddenly, there's a giant stone mushroom towering above Kyetino, looks like it's at least 100 feet tall and with a rather small mushroom-tip at the top (not much thicker than the main "stem"); additionally, all surfaces seem perfectly smooth, and (while this isn't visible to the naked eye) it's very dense and is slightly resistant to magic. The whole thing looks more like a stake or nail than a mushroom, actually. For it to stand straight up indicates supernaturally-precise workmanship, though there is a slight helper...the very bottom of the "stem" is not resting on flat ground, but rather was created at the very top of the pit, sealing the exit and letting gravity do the rest. As the structure is very large and very heavy, its central column will follow the power of gravity very quickly and very strongly. It prevented Raine's escape from the very moment of its creation, and unless she thinks up some way out of this mess she'll be facing imminent crushing.

Raine saw what she intended, and her eyes widened. She wasn't going to get crushed. She wouldn't. Anger rose up in her eyes, and she furrowed her brow, a hateful aura pouring off of her. As the large "plug" came down to seal her in her doom, she suddenly had a burst of adrenaline, the anger fueling her strength and energy. She wasn't intending to try and actually push the thing away, considering that it probably would work, but also be an immense waste of energy. Instead, Raine abrubtly created a ledge of dark energy above her, making a barrier that the plug would land on before it would actually come down all the way. The ledge might not hold for very long, but it would give her just enough time to do what she needed. The ledge that she created began to crack under the weight of the "rock mushroom", simply because she hadn't put that much energy into it. As the ledge kept the giant rock off of her, she shot her left hand out to the side, a very large amount of dark energy pouring off of her and onto the wall of the hole right beside her. Immediately, the dark energy began to eat at thte wall, completely disintigrating a part of it and creating a large enough hole for her to fit through. The wall would continue to be eaten by the dark energy until it created an entire tunnel for her to get back to the top. Basically, she made a second exit. She quickly jumped into it, using her dark energy to boost her up through it. The dark energy that was holding up Kyetino's giant rock would break and disappear, the plug that she had created finally falling down enough to completely plug the hole. Raine, however, would be standing now on the surface, having completely tunneled her way through the wall and back up. Unless of course, Kyetino tried to prevent her from doing that somehow, but it was doubtful she'd even have time to realize what had happened.
