Alec, despite Nar's harsh words, automatically felt guilty. Not only had he made his day worse, he more than likely ruined Nar's as well.
"Wait!" he called after her, picking up his empty orb as he followed her into the stream. He ran past her, trying to catch up with her orb. He had finally gain a foot before it, when he slipped. His orb tried to escape, but he blocked it from drifting away from him. He stuck his foot out, in hopes Nar's orb would catch onto and stop.
And while all of this was going on, he thought to himself, Why was he doing this for her?

Nar blinked in surprise as Alec chased after her orb, and then again as he slipped and fell, her orb finally rolling to a halt against his foot. "Thank you..." she commented softly, picking up her orb and hugging it close. "Perhaps you are not entirely horrible."

Alec smiled, for what seemed like the first time in ages. He wasn't sure why he had, he was soaked and his orb was broken. Not to mention this girl had made his day considerably worse.
Sitting up, he looked into Nar's mix-matched and replied, "I'm sorry I pushed you..." and it was true that he was sorry he pushed her, even if he wasn't entirely for what he had said to her earlier. But one takes things a step at a time.

"I suppose I'll forgive you, this time." She replied airily, though her heart wasn't in it. She really was touched that he'd gotten her her orb back. Perhaps today wasn't completely ruined, though she was no longer made happy by the sunlight on the water and on her (now slightly damp) skin, or the flowers. "I believe we met once before, indoors...but I don't recall your name. What are you called?"
