Hey..to all the drum majors in the site!!!! When I get on the jarvis (the big stand thingy with stairs) and the band is counting on a practice...does it confuse you??...it sure does to me!!!

I'm not a drum major. I'm baritone/tuba section leader though for my 5A band in Texas (and the only girl in low brass haha), but I've gone out to see the form from a cherry picker.
It's because of the sound delay. It's like when you do your fight song or something, and the people in the stands clap, and they're freakishly wrong. It's because of the sound delay. It sounds right to them, but it's wrong to you because you're not "in" it.

what she said, im a trumpeter (only gal in brass, haha i WIN!) and that sounds about right. you get used to it after a while.
i hope we're confusing our drum major like 10 times as much as your confused, b/c we don't like him stare

I happen to be the smallest guy in our band, but guess what i play? BARITONE (during marching season i regret choosing it)..and guess why my drum majors are EVIL....(they make us hold up our horns too long) gonk *evil*

I'm a Tenor Saxophone Section leader/ Woodwind Captain. Its like what they said. It's due by the sound because first sound is a bubble, then it starts to increase so freaking fast because there our no walls for the sound to bounce off of.

yep. they are all right up there. lol i'm not a drum major either though. lol but it is weird when we practice, our school is like 200 feet away and we're up on a hill, so there's an echo when we play and it's like a whole sec behind and it confuses me a lot! lol
and i love our drum majors!!!!!!! our head drum majpr is so weird and funny! lol
