Robin McKinley's Spindles End, cannot get even halfway through the book(then again I read it about 8 years ago so my tastes might have changed but still, never).
Also not a fan of romance books, if it has a fluffy pink cover and something about "Love Boat" or "Major Crush" or anything similar it is an automatic avoid.

[Hee, I've been gone a good while...]
I tend to avoid junior novelizations and the books based on Doctor Who and Torchwood. I also avoid books based on games, like Halo or WOW.

It's pretty rare for me to completely disregard a book. Generally I do stick to fantasy, but normally I wouldn't ignore a book from a different genre if it was recommended to me.
That being said, I do tend to avoid two types of book.
I won't read romance novels. There's nothing wrong with reading them, but they're not really my thing.
I also try and avoid books with really dark themes. I normally read because it makes me happy, so I won't read books like The Kite Runner or Push, even if a friend has loved them.

i rarely and always pass (unless neccessary) books books that have no relationship probs in it, i don't mean it has to be a romance but like if it was a book about an all girl school and theres just no friends or bully probs i just don't like that
