...Mercury to be particularly interesting?

I don't know how this stands in relation to the general astrological community because I haven't researched it, but from observations of people around me, I've found that if someone doesn't seem to fit their sign, nine times out of ten their mercury is either in the sign before or the sign after their sunsign, while the majority who do fit their sign have mercury and sun in the same place.

I pin it on the fact that if you're thinking and communicating like a sign other than your sun, it's going to have a significant impact on your personality in general.

What are other people's observations with this?

Wow, no I've never noticed that. That's a fascinating theory, though. 3nodding The only thing I've ever noticed about Merc is the Pisces in Merc I've already talked about. All the people I know with it have indeed had flashes of insight about an event prior to its occurrence. There are other factors in a chart that can imbue the same phenom, like isn't there something in the 12th house that can do that? *Erm...has forgotten*

Doesnt' Merc *always* fall either right before or right after?

That, or in the same sign as the sun (Which I think is most common).

I can't say too much about your mercury-in-pisces theory ebcause I don't know anyone with that placement (that I'm aware of), but pisces (and watersigns in general) are sometimes said to tend towards psychicness (pisces in particular, I think).

I'm pisces with mercury in aquarius. It might just be that pisces and aquarius are so similar... but I think that aquarius influences me a lot. When I read descriptions of mercury in aquarius I am leik 'w0ah dat's soo meeee' .... I think this position has a lot more influence because in aquarius, mercury is exhaulted. w00t!

I can't really think of mercury positions of anyone else I know right now...

I've never found it to be all that relevant. Sometimes I can't even remember what it controls.
