Johnathan laughed softly as he watched the neko-boy prance of in search of whatever he'd brought to the school. Slowly, his fingers came up to plays across his lips. He had almost forgotten what that felt like. It seemed that a kiss between the two of them was one of the strongest way to feel emotions that Johnathan had ever felt. Well, it was the kiss that was the transfer of emotions, really, because Akuma hadn't been the first one. But he'd had no summer romances and anything of the like, so of course he missed the feeling.
Dropping his hand back to his side, Johnathan followed after the boy, grey eyes casting a curious gaze around the campus. Curse the fact that he was colorblind. It made life a rather boring place. Hey, lookie there. He'd been with Akuma only a few minutes and he was already fussing over insignifigant things rather than the tragic summer he'd been reliving for what seemed to be months. And it probably had been months, but it was time to get back to the present time as he came upon his boyfriend pouncing his own luggage. Folding his arms and leaning against a tree, a smug look crossed his face. "Jumping your own bags? My, Akuma, you're making me jealous."

Takashi "Kaori" Lee pulled up to the gates of his new boarding school in a bright yellow cab. He let out a sigh. 'How long is this one going to last?' He thought to himself. It wasn't that he missed behaved in class, or got bad grades. No, Kaori, as he liked to be called, was in fact an angel in class and hardly ever got anything below a 'C'. For almost the last ten years, Kaori has been going between the orphanage and foster homes, never passing through the same house hands twice. He tried to stay in one place, he really did, but the longest he had lasted in a faster home was only about 10 months.
The pale skinned boy brushed a few locks of wavy chestnut hair way from his equally brown eyes and put on a bright smiling face as the cab pulled to a halt. Kaori opened the door and placed a booted foot with a small heel on the ground. He stood slowly, a small breeze ruffling his knee length sky blue skirt, and white button up blouse. His eyes twinkled softly as he looked up at the open gates and high tower of the castle. He gazed up at the castle as it loomed over him in all its fantastic glory. “Wow.” Kaori said in awe, “I feel much, much shorter now.” He looked down at his slim five foot two inch frame and shrugged. He didn’t mind that he was short, in fact, he liked it. It added to the feminine image that he was trying to achieve.
He turned around and reached into the cab, pulling out a medium suit case, a cello, and a viola. He paid the driver and he sped away down the road. Kaori grabbed his viola and slung the strap around over his chest, swinging the case around until it lay across his back. He took the handle of his luggage and cello, and began to drag them along on their wheels.
“Hmm, I wonder if anyone is free to help me?” Kaori said, looking around and trying to find someone.

Redness flowed through out Akuma's face at the remark of Johnathan. "You... You're so dirty, Johnathan!" He cried, seconds before turning and pouncing the boy. His lips about an inch away from Johnathan's lips, he began to laugh. Johnathan always looked so shocked when he did things like that. He should be used to it by now.
He sat up, legs on either side of Johnathan's body, his pink tounge sticking out from his lips. "I was making sure that they wouldn't get away." He told him, with a slight nod. Well, that was his only explanation. How else would his baggage get there unless moving on its own?

Johnathan laughed at Akuma's startled reply. Well, it was true. The boy jumped totally random items so much more than he jumped his own lover! How did that work!? Laughing slightly, Johnathan was rather taken off-gaurd as he himself pounced, eyes staring straight into ones that appeared grey and black to him. Oh the horrors of living in an old film.
"Yeah, well..." Johnathan started, trying to think up a decent retort before there was too much time between his reply and Akuma's. So, he pulled the boy back down and rubbed their noses together, smiling happily. It was probably just to give himself more time, but he did like being so close to the other boy. It was a nice change from being huddled in his foster father's arms the whole summer. "You should be paying more attention to where your stuff is going."

He grinned. "Okay..." He pouted slightly, and looked up at his bags, as if to make sure they were still stationary over where he had pounced them. Of course they were, but still... He looked back at his love and licked his nose playfully. He looked deeply into Johnathan's eyes for a few moments, examining them. Searching for.... Well, for what, he was unsure.

Johnathan laughed lightly at the lick to his nose, smiling up at Akuma contentedly. That was, before a soft song played through the back of his mind. For what reason this was happening, he wasn't sure. It was just like the human mind, to bring up something that someone tries to forget. The harder you push it back, the more likely it is to come back. And that voice was all too familiar...
As he felt his eyes gain that watery sheen that they'd fallen in love with, he snapped them shut. Barely able to think clearly to himself, he wrapped his arms about his friend's shoulders, pulling him into a horizontal embrace that probably looked rather odd to anyone else. Johnathan's breathing at that moment was slowed, as he tried to keep himself in check, as he did in public no matter what was wrong.

Kaori shrugged and continued on his way. He pulled his things along and it wasn't long before he was able to check into his dorm....((alright, off to see what else is around. ^.^)

Akuma had been smiling, but the smile faded as he had seen his beloved's eyes fill with tears. He was indeed very worried that he may be in pain inside, and knew that that pain was the worst pain of all. He allowed himself to be pulled into a hug, and hugged him back. He didn't know if he should, but he wanted to ask him what was the matter. Maybe if he talks about it it will feel better. . . ?
"W-what's wrong, Johnathan. . . ?" The young neko asked quietly. His own eyes were filling also, though Akuma didn't know why. He figured it was because Johnathan was so close to tears that it was affecting him. He nuzzled his face next to Johnathan's neck, his breath warm on Johnathan's skin.

"I-" Johnathan started, but stopped before he could get a full sentence out, biting at his lower lip. 'Why now?' he thought sadly. 'Why now of all times? I was finally happy with Akuma and this stupid... Thoughts...' The reddish-haired boy lifted an arm and wiped the tears away from his face. He was used to this by now, his eyes getting all red and puffy, his skin turning a pallor color. His arm having fullfilled it's business, he wrapped it around the neko-jinn again and held him tightly.
"D-do you reme-member the boy that I t-t-told you about last year? Ha-Haruki...?" the singer asked, his voice hoarse and rather quiet. One of his barely tanned hands was running itself gently through Akuma's hair, as though he was the one who needed the comfort. A shaky smile crossed his face, but went away quickly, as it's presence had brought more tears. "When I lef-ft school last year... Th-th-that night h-h-he... He w-was hit b-b-b-by a c-car, Ak-kuma... H-he... H-h-he..." And that was as far into the story he could get before just wrapping his arms tightly around Akuma and burying his head in the boy's shoulder, hoping that he understood what hadn't been said.

His eyes widened. Hit by... A car? He thought, his mind frozen. "Oh... Oh my god..." he breathed, his arms around Johnathan's body, as if trying to squeeze the sadness out of him. He knew that Haruki was one of Johnathan's best friends. He allowed himself to be petted by Johnathan, wishing he could say something to make him better. . .
"Johnathan?" He asked quietly, his voice just barely above a whisper. He looked at him with large eyes, glassed over with unshed tears. He reached a hand up and brushed a bit of his hair out of his face, trying to think of something else to say. He had to say something... Would it be okay if he had just said his name?

By the time his own name passed Akuma’s lips, Johnathan was sobbing quietly into his shoulder. It still felt horrible. Just as it had three months before, and just as it would for a long, long time after. It felt as though someone had ripped out his heart and stepped it into the ground and crushed it ‘til it didn’t work anymore. And it actually felt like that. No metaphors, or anything else, his heart was literally in pain. Because he just didn’t understand it. What kind of God killed someone like Haruki? What had he ever done wrong? Yes, when he himself had still been an orphan, he had attempted suicide out of depression, both Kizzy and Johnathan had learned that at one of Haruki’s check-ups, the doctor finding a scar running up his left arm, which he hid constantly. And that was the worst of it. What else could he have done...?
“Hey Johnathan...?” a small voice spoke up, maple eyes looking at the floor of the dimly lit room. Johnathan lifted his head to glance upon the small silhouette of his friend. Even then, his reddish hair was long, almost reaching his shoulders. His eyes were serious, just as he was younger, but they had softened slightly as he finally started singing and writing his songs. His grey eyes looked curiously at the boy standing by his door, a pencil still in his hand. He was trying to choose a third person for his band, and was having real trouble actually deciding who was any good.
“I... I’m sorry I was too shy to say anything about it earlier but... I was wondering... Could I try out for your band?” It took him a while to spit out this whole sentence, and he paused throughout, but this only made Johnathan smile. The boy had been adopted by Kizzy only a few months earlier, and he was still quiet and a bit withdrawn. Little did Johnathan know, that was how the younger one would behave all his life.
“Of course! What do you play?” Johnathan was ecstatic. This was the first time that Haruki had actually confronted him, actually spoken to him with full, conversational sentences. He scribbled Haruki’s name on the paper in front of him, and looked back up, to find the boy unfolding the portable keyboard. Nodding to himself, he wrote ‘keyboard’ behind a hyphen next to his foster brother’s name. “Keyboard, am I right?”
“Yes... Keyboard...” he said softly, and began to play, eyes closing off from the word, not an expression on his face. There was never a real smile on Haruki’s face. There never was. Not on his lips, at least, and not for anyone but Johnathan. That was one of the things that he would always remember; the beautiful shimmering smile that hovered in the maple eyes that he once held so dear...
And he still did. Even after seeing that painful blank look in his eyes as his spirit departed, those maple eyes, that smile, was pinned in his mind. Forever. He sobered himself, small shudders going through his body with ever other breath. He lifted himself and Akuma back up, turning the smaller boy so he was sitting on Johnathan’s lap. Wrapping his arms around the other, he set his head gently on his shoulder, sighing once again. “I just... I don’t know why it happened. Really... He never did anything wrong. He was so perfect. He was so... I thought... Akuma... I was the one who put out the spark in his eye... Did you know that...?” he murmured, his eyes welling up again, and his grip tightening. He'd never told anyone about that turn of events, but now, as he confessed, he would need someone to listen.

Akuma brushed his lips upon the top of Johnathan's head, his eyes full of tears. He pulled his friend closer, tightening the grip around his shoulders. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to blot out the pain that he was feeling through the sobs. He sat up more, pulling Johnathan so that he was almost a part of him. Well, it felt as though he was, his body so close and so in tune with Akuma's. Feeling Johnathan's heart pounding against his was a comforting feeling, though. It almost made him happy... but he knew that he couldn't become happy until Johnathan was happy again.
"Was he..." Akuma started, his own voice shocking him. He sounded so... so calm. that was the total opposite of how he was really feeling... "Was he in some kind of inner pain? Or something in his past that god would want to free him from?" His grip loosened a bit, his heart hurting not only because Johnathan was upset, but because Johnathan loved Haruki, or so it seemed. And, from the sound of it, Haruki loved him too. "No," He sighed in a soft, comforting voice. "I didn't know that... And I'm sure he meant - means alot to you, too..."
Was that... a hint of spite in that last sentence? He asked himself with wide eyes. Why am I so selfish? It's okay for him to love someone else... I can't keep him forever.. that thought stung, because at any moment, Johnathan, or he himself, could die, from anything. Anything can kill you... anything, now-a-days... He shivered in spite of himself, hugging his beloved friend tighter.

- "He... He'd tried to k-kill himself when h-he w-w-was in th-the orpha-orphan-nage... But... I never thought... I didn't think..." This train of thought, that perhaps Haruki was still in emotional pain before the accident, just sent harder sobs through Johnathan's slim frame. No matter what he did, no matter how he averted his thoughts, it always came back to him. Like a boomerang that someone else was throwing. It wasn't his fault. But he'd hurt Haruki. It was his fault. But, no, it wasn't! He hadn't been driving the car! But he was why Haruki didn't avoid the car when it was coming toward him.
It was dark out!! He couldn't tell if a goddamned car was coming toward him! But you don't know that. What if he could? Better yet, what if you hurt him so much he commited suicide by jumping in front of it?! No!! He didn't do that!! I didn't hurt him enough to... He would never... Johnathan took slow, unsteady breaths, trying to steady himself at least slightly. He didn't want to be out here when talking about something this extreme. Hiccuping at regular intervals while he tried to intake normally, he pulled himself out of Akuma's grasp and pulled the boy weakly to his feet.
Silent the whole time, Johnathan lead the two of them through the school building until they reached what was now their dormitory. Hand still interlocked in Akuma's, he reached into his pocket and pulled out the keys, looking back to make sure Akuma hadn't forgotten his bags with their abrupt leaving. Tears still fell silently from his eyes, but he didn't pay any attention to them. He unlocked the door, and pulled the two of them inside the room, closing the door behind. He let his bags slip slowly from his hands and leaned, ever-so-softly, into who was his boyfriend for the past year. He took in the neko-jinn's scent in a deep breath, and shuddered as he exhaled.
"Once... Once, before I'd fallen asleep, Haruki had left his bed... It was still when I was writing song lyrics... H-he knew I d-did that to c-calm down bef-befo-ore I went t-to sleep..." he took a deep breath. He hated reliving this moment. The pain that he'd seen after what he'd done. And after the other boy died... No! He wouldn't think of it that way!! Slowly, he continued, his voice in a fragile whisper. "He was really shy... He was always shy... But that night he... Said that... S-said... Th-tha-at he l-l-l... h-he..." His voice lowered even further with the end of the sentence, and his eyes closed as he buried his head in the crook of Akuma's neck, his legs weak from the crying. He was so used to being the dominant one in any of this relationship business, and being this weak was awkward feeling to him. Showing any emotion was foriegn to him. "He told me that he loved me... Akuma-san... And I turned him down... Two years ago, when I didn't even know you, I said that I didn't love him! I laughed at him!! God, Akuma, I didn't mean it! I hurt him so much... So much....." At this point, Johnathan was barely keeping himself upright, and was relying more on Akuma to stand up then anything else. He felt horrible, but he knew it would pass. He knew it would... It had to..... - OoC:: Next post is in their needs-too-be-made dormroom, luvvy~!!
