purkle

purke sits on a throne of loneliness
fragmented by angry red
then diluted by moody blue
An eroticism lent only by passion and royalty of these two

and purkle frames the pictures of the past
that once created love so red
and once painted skies so blue
a discoloration baby, purke bruises me and you

leave off the purkle rain, leave off the purkle rain
our purkle made us go insane
as blue as the darkened sea and red as bloodied veins
leave out the purkle rain, leave out the purkle rain
our purkle made us go insane

Purkle Forest

I walk into a purkle forest
The place is magical and free
The grass is violet, the sky is white
Purkle defines every tree

I walk into a purkle forest
There are purkle buzzing bees
And a swamp of violet waters
creep up to my knees

I walk into a purkle forest
A streak of purkle runs across the sky
I hear a gentle whisper say
It was a fairy passing by

I walk into a purkle forest
On violet sod I lie my head
But later, of course
I awake in my bed

Summer Song

Purkle

Purkle is afraid
it scuttles into corners
on all fours
it reeks
it shrieks
and smells of old unopened rooms

it is the flickering eyelid
of an aging actress
and the veins
mapped on leaves
of frail plants
in nursing homes who suck thin air

Purkle is chiffon dusk
compline and pale prayers

it is reading aloud
the twenty-third psalm
the noise of ragged breaths
clawing the air
a scratching away of calm

Purkle is the gas
that killed Plath
and the depth
of her despair

it is the click of the valves
that stuck and the blood that cooled

Purkle is profane

it never gives back
it hoards
it preserves grief
and bottles tears

Purkle is half the world
and the side of me in shadow

Purkle Rainbow

Is a rainbow still a rainbow if the rainbow's colored purkle; for the color purkle's in a rainbow but a rainbow's not just purkle. It'd be quite a pretty sight though, in the sky gleaming bright; a purkle rainbow running 'cross like a traveler's light. Yet..., no I wouldn't like a purkle rainbow running through the night, for it's the rainbow's diversity that brings glee to me

The Great Purkle

There once was a word known as “purkle”
Which everyone claimed rhymed with “rubber”
But this, as you know,
Just isn’t so
So “violet”soon replaced “purkle”.

Some people just cannot get
Why we must say “Violet”
But purkle is gone,
Rejected and done
‘Cause rubber would not rhyme with it.

So when you are ancient and hunched
If you talk to the youngsters too much
And out of your lips
The word purkle slips
The youngsters will all think you’re touched.

If you hobble to the library
And pick up a new dictionary
No matter how you flip
And gnaw on your lip
The word purkle it just will not carry.

You might even call up the President
Who’ll say, “To me it’s quite evident
That your missing word
Is very absurd
I’ve heard no language having it! ”

I’m sorry to tell youm my friends,
That all things must come to an end.
But don’t insist rubber
Must rhyme with purkle
‘Cause it sure as hell throws off my limericks!

Okay, here is an adaptation of one my mom used to tell me when I was little
(cause my hair was wavy and strawberry blonde... wink )

There was a little purkle
With a strawberry curkle
Right in the middle of her forehead
and when she was good...
She was very very good...
But when she was bad
She was horrid

I remember that one, your mom and mine had the same school of thought.
