Expectations: A pregnant women is expected to limit her activities.
This includes activities that are, otherwise, tolerated and even encouraged by society under 'normal' conditions.
1. A pregnant woman is, generally, not allowed to ride themepark rides -- I realise that, for most, this is not such a drag; however, there are plenty of women who enjoy amusement parks.
2. Moderate and even light drinking is no longer acceptable when pregnant.
3. Pregnant smokers are expected to kick the habit -- whether or not they are ready or willing is entirely irrelevent.
4. Pregnant women are expected to 'take it easy.' I know what you are thinking: "How in the world is this a negative?" I will tell you that, for a number of women, 'taking it easy' is freakin' boring -- these are the women who want to be on their feet at all hours of the day, and even night.
5. Pregnant women have to suffer public ogling -- would you want to have random strangers frequently walk up to you and pat your belly?
Those are only five reasons that I can think up off the top of my head -- I am very certain that there are far more reasons why one would not desire to be pregnant.

I just thought of something. The rides have warnings for pregnant women, but what if a pregnant woman still wanted to go on the ride (if she didn't care about the pregnancy, maybe wanted to cause miscarriage, or just didn't believe it would harm her)? Could the park attendants stop her from getting on the ride? Would they just warn her? Could they call the security guards or the police?

I'd always wear a shirt that says "DON'T ******** TOUCH ME" and then gladly punch anyone who puts their grimey hands on me to "feel the BAAAAAAYBEEEEEE." No b***h. My body, keep your mitts off of it.

I'm pretty sure caffeine is a big no-no... My cousin's pregnant, and I think that she can have a little... I'm not sure. It may also be necessary to stop some prescriptions. My mom's asthma came back when she was pregnant with me, and she couldn't use an inhalor. MipsyKitten: I think if she's showing, she'd have a hard time getting to the ride to begin with, what with the safety bars. I think that they would maybe warn her... but I don't know. I know one person who went to Valleyfair (an amusement park in Minnesota) and went on all sorts of rides, but she wasn't showing.

Could the park attendants stop her from getting on the ride? Would they just warn her? Could they call the security guards or the police? I guess, I don't really know. I supposed that the only thing they can do is offer a warning. --> Deformography reminded me of another common expectation of pregnant women: 6. Pregnant women, generally, are turned away from any bleaching cosmetic products -- in particular, hair dye. ((I am not entirely sure why; but, I have heard that pregnant women typically cease to dye their hair for this reason.)) 7. And, of course, I will add Deformography's assertion that women are not allowed much caffeine -- no more coffee fix for the pregnant women. 8. I have never heard of the prescription thing; however, I suppose that there are certain prescriptions that would harm the fetus.

This isn't a common problem, but a pregnancy could potentially paralyse me from the lower back down due to a spinal deformity I have

Clinical depression.
There are women who want children who can't have them because being pregnant would mean they couldn't take their medication, and that with the added stress of a normal, healthy pregnancy, could cause them to become suicidal. Or even homicidal.

You'd get unwanted attention from people with pregnancy fetishes.

I know this is going to sound a bit odd at first, but in a sense, I think of babies more or less like dogs. So many people are supporting breeding because they want a 'well-bred' product. However, there are plenty of dogs (and children) who have been abandoned and could use good homes. I'm all for taking care of what we already have before bringing more dogs and babies into the world.
On top of that, medical complications, being unprepared, not wanting children, etc. are all good reasons, but they've been mentioned before... sweatdrop
