Lady Nekochan sasuke_sakura8 i have 18 of them were still getting another 18 horses i have 1 trakehner, 8 pintos, 9 arabians then were getting 7 ex-race horses, 5 ex-jumpers, and 6 ex-barrel racers I like hearing that "ex" part. =D
I'm not against riding horses, or even competing if the horse enjoys the activity and isn't overworked, but too many competition horses end up just dumped once they are "useless," or they're run too hard while they're in the business. My horse was an ex-racer turned ex-eventer when we got him. He's retired from riding now and has seen more trauma and chaos than I would ever wish on an animal.
I'm debating starting a YouTube account because I made this 5 1/2 minute video about the hroses at the barn we visit. It's not the greatest thing, as the only motion-video I have is of our horse (the rest is pictures and text), but I'm quite proud of it.
People just don't get how much those animals go through.there not going for races or jumping anymore i choose them because the owner said if they didn't got sold they'll have to put them down so i just wanted to give them another chance so they can live more longer for the rest of there life

Sarah was going to be put down about 15 years ago because she has a bad back, but that hasn't stopped her from having a healthy foal a long time ago (the vet said that it would not be a risk with her back - riding would).
EDIT - My serious video is now on my profile, not the funny one.
If you want to see the slightly funny one, you'll have to click the website link next to my avvie here and find it. xd

I think my horse has been through stuff like that. In case you haven't watched the video thing I mentioned (I'm not going to assume that everyone's checked out a 5:30 or so video just because I found the desire to post it! xd ), he has long scars up his back legs and a line on a front hoof from when it cracked all the way up. The vet guessed that the scars came from racing, probably tripping at he starting gates and cutting himself on the metal. gonk It upsets me to think of some of the stuff he's gone through. He's been sold a lot, and he hates being by himself. If he can't see any other horses in other pastures outside, he freaks out and gallops back and forth, screaming until we bring him in. It's not that he's crazy or anything, he's just terrified of being by himself. He even gets angry if we take too long to come visit him; he acts aloof and won't bring his head around to look at us when we hug him and such, looking away instead. He's a smart guy.

We just lost a horse at our barn last week. =( Poor ol' Halla. She was only there about a month.
We're not sure what killed her. The barn owner has two possible expalinations:
1. Some sort of gas colic. It wasn't an impaciton, because she was still using the restroom.
2. An internal injury. Her pasturemate had gotten jealous of her saying hello to the horses in the next paddock, and he came over and kicked her really hard. It's possible he could have hit something behind her ribcage, where there's less protection from impacts.
I really didn't know her very well, but she was a very sweet horse and will be missed. I made a video in memory of her, and I think it's going to go on my YouTube as well.
She was a slightly older horse. I think she was in her 20s.

arimina she's a pure breed Morgan (the picture above). Thanx Really? =o I guess I haven't been around Morgans enough to guess that properly, huh? I've heard they're a really great breed.
It takes a lot of work, Sheltie, even if the horse is boarded somewhere else. Save up a lot when you have a job (or if you have one now). They're expensive, and our family can't afford to go on vacations out of town and things like that, but they're so worth it.
