Naraka

Naraka shrugs a little. "Only if you wanted to. I suppose it's a little unusual, isn't it? I mean for someone who's so used to deception as a way of life. I'm in the habit of being very candid, though, so, when I'm curious I ask questions, instead of skulking around behind people's backs. Anyway, I can tell you that if there's anything you'd like to know you're best off just asking. I don't expect you to, though. I don't know what you feel you'd have to gain by knowing anything about me. I'm not a threat to you, particularly."

He raised an eyebrow, listening with a look of faint amusement. After fixing him with a hard stare, Vlad laughed, abruptly beginning to walk again. "Perhaps you are, perhaps you aren't."

Nar scrambles up from his perch to go with him, wondering at his reaction. Odd, but then, Nar's familiar with such behavior. In fact, he's employed it on ocassion, himself. He wasn't entirely truthful when he said to be candid was in his nature... he's used a fair share of emotional deception. But perhaps not in this situation.

Unfortunately, his train of thought has come crashing to a hault. Or rather, his train of thought involving conversation. Now he's not too sure what to say.

Vlad kept on walking, beginning to wander back in the direction they'd come, but kept his silence for the moment. He was, to a certain extent, simply being contentious...he was very often inclined to do the opposite of whatever had been suggested.

Nar's unaware that he's suggested anything, and is ignorant that the other is being obstinant because of it. He does get the impression he's irritated him somehow, but can't really figure out how or what he's said imparticular to make him irrate. He backtracks the conversation, and finally concludes that he must have put him off by assuming anything about his character, and spends a good deal of the walk back trying to figure out a way to appologize without sounding condecending or presumptuous.

Finally, he sighs, and says, "Im sorry if all my questions bothered you. I was only trying to be friendly."

When Nar had told him to just ask the questions he had, if he had any, he'd quickly made up his mind not to, for the time being. It was partly his own obstinance, and partly that he didn't want to seem as interested as he was.

In response, Vlad simply shrugged, turning his head for a moment to look at the other vampire. "Don't strain yourself trying too hard." He smirked, then turned his attentions to unlocking the same door they'd come out of earlier.

Nar raises his eyebrows in response, but doesn't answer. Things had been going so well and somehow he'd ******** it all up. Better to quit before it gets any worse.

Well, that had certainly made things go quiet. Once he'd gotten the door unlocked, he held it open for Naraka, smirking to himself.

Nar glances up at him for a moment, thinking. Everytime he tries to explain himself is when he gets in trouble. As much as he's compelled to do so, perhaps he ought to stop. In the end, all he can do is give out a defeated laugh and head inside. He'll just say goodbye to Iden before he goes home to brood.

With a slight grin, he made his way up the stairs to the appropriate floor and room, pushing open the door that the girl had, apparently, not bothered to lock after they'd left. Or forgotten to do so.

It seemed there'd been a slight increase in activity after the vampires had gone out, or at least enough that the creatures had switched up their positions...except for Ri, who was still sleeping on top of the TV. A couple of pooka, the two Iden had pointed out as the ones who sometimes got into fights, sounded as though they were doing exactly that, chittering back and forth at each other.

Iden was half asleep on the couch, having shooed off its previous occupants. She didn't really notice the two come in.

Naraka wanders up after him, still completely stumped and convinced that being quiet is the best solution. It's not an obstinate silence like Vlad's, only puzzled and a little depressed. When he sees Iden drowsing he decides that it would probably be better if he were just to leave. "Well, good evening, then. Or morning, I suppose." He gets his card out of his pocket and prepares for departure.

Once inside, he perched himself on the arm of the couch, extending a hand to brush the girl's cheek and stroke lightly at her hair. Looking up, he nodded. "Good evening..or morning, if that's your preference."

Their voices, together with the gesture, served to rouse Iden a bit, and she pushed herself up on her elbow, blinking sleepily at Nar. She didn't seem terribly phased or concerned by Vlad's touch, or at least didn't do anything about it. "Mm, going?"

Nar watches the exchange, somewhat disturbed. Iden doesn't seem upset, though, so she must not be too ill-pleased with it. "Yes, well, it looks as though you'd rather be sleeping. I forgot to bring that tape all over again. I'll definitly send it along next time."

Vlad continued as he was, trailing his fingers through her hair and wearing an indefinite smirk.

"Had to do something while you were gone," she muttered, grinning just a bit. "Well, it'll get here eventually, I'm sure. I guess I'll see you soon, then."

Nar gives them both a quiet nod, wishing he had something clever to say, but feeling distinctly stupid and unwise. He activates his card, and in a wash of sudden mist, he's gone, off to the castle, and then back home.
