Tumai lifted his head as Aleu nuzzled into him, comforted by how understanding she was. "You're right. It was fate that brought us together, when both of us were on our way to see loved ones and we just happened to cross paths." He purred gently. "And I wouldn't trade you or our cubs for anything in the World."
After returning her nuzzle, he looked back down at the cubs. "We should at least wait until their eyes have opened, and they're a little stronger. I'll continue to hunt outside of the Valley for us, and when we're ready, we'll carry the cubs out of the Valley ourselves." His expression was slightly solemn, as despite Aleu's kind words, he still felt as though he had let her down. It wouldn't happen again though, as he would do everything in his powers to provide for her and their offspring once they reached the Crater.
"For now my love, you should rest. It can't have been easy for you." Saying that, he again nuzzled into her and rested his head lightly on her stomach, his body curled around her and the cubs.
(( heart I think one more post from you would finish it nicely... ))

*As he settled himself down Aleu smiled and purred softly. She was happy; that’s all that mattered. With another glance down at her cubs the new mother beamed one last time before resting her chin along her paws. She shifted only once, to better fit her mate’s comfort.
Things would get better, they just had to; and in her mind they did no wrong. No one could stop mother nature, or the bonds of love.*
