Yagabon system, engaging Confederate forces
Of course, these missiles are not passive things that fly in straight lines, waiting on their target to shoot them down. Instead, they are constantly maneuvering. When a missile's AI determined it's sheild was depleted enough to make it unlikely to reach it's target, it would instead aim for the nearest hostile, be it a fighter or a heavy capital ship. But, even though they were being whittled down, there was less than a second of flighttime, giving them a very high probability of success, especially since a second salvo was inbound, directly on it's heels. As for the SolFed ships themselves, coming in close was a mistake. In addition to the firepower already being thrown out, the mass drivers opened up, sending their slugs at seventy percent the speed of light, said slugs ranging from the small five-ton CIWS-esque rapid-pulse triple mounts, the heavier three-hundred-ton single mounts, and then, when a Confederate ship made the mistake of getting fore or aft of one of the four jumpships, the massive two-thousand-ton fixed mounts. For reference, individual shots from the three-hundred-ton mass drivers have just under the destructive power of the K-T event. The energy weapons alone had pumped out enough energy by now to vaporise an Earth-sized planet several dozen miles down.

All ships apart from the Scorpia made a mirco jump to come out behind the SolFed ships.
((Hey, let's not try to kill them all. Most but not all. Some are gonna join the RA.))

Yagabon system, engaging Confederate force
As soon as the Confederate vessels returned to normal space, the aft armaments of the SolFed warships opened up, with the same density of fire as the forwards, which had cut out as soon as they detected the Confederate vessels jumping. Those missiles that had neither been destroyed nor impacted on their targets swung around, making use of their range to reengage, their inertialess drives allowing them to alter course instantly, even as the larger warships did the same, technically traveling backwards now, presenting the smallest possible profile to the Confederate vessels. More than a dozen of the escorting warships had been destroyed.
((All I'm doing is shooting with my city-destroying, AI-guided energy weapons, missiles and the mass drivers, aiming first at the largest and closest ships, and working our way down. S'up to you to note the damage and losses to your own forces.))

Yagabon System
The ships activate a static field which should confuse the AI into thinking its friends were its targets. One ship already, the CIN Angel's Arm floated in space, a burning hulk. Several hundred escape pods floated in space. The CIN Scorpia took a heavy beating from the Alexander and offered a surrender.

The Alexander accepted the yield and towed the warship out of the battlezone. Meanwhile, fighters were collecting the escape pods and bringing them to the Alexander where their occupants were being detained.

But the SolFed GRAVIDAR, as an extremely oversimplified example, determined both mass and volume, which, coupled with the tachyon-pulse IFF of the SolFed warships, would mean that confusing their EM-spectrum-based sensors would be insufficient. None-the-less, the SolFed warships continued firing and maneuvering. As already mentioned more than a dozen escorts were destroyed, their antimatter reactors causing the ships to flare like suns for an instant, consuming the vessels.

Recieving the destination coordinates, the jumpships gathered their escorts, then jumped, after leaving a beacon in multidee, allowing any further jumpships that may show up before it's all over to follow the "trail of breadcrumbs".
