:: New Soil. New Friends. New Life. :: Jenna x Hallie

shia-san
Hello.

Hi.

Whats your name?

I don’t have one.

Oh! But everyone has a name. Come on, what is it?

…I—

Oh…Well, I’m—

‘What?’ Awakened, startled, heated. The night air wasn’t enough to cool down this Halfling as silence regained, and established. A silvery moon flit a morphed reflection into a shallow pond, the bay a temporary bed to such a weary hound. It wasn’t pitch black, though dark and this amount of opaque shadowing began to frighten the female mix, rattling her chain and touching her weakest points. She rustled, head bobbing low to the shore line, eyes darting. Under watchful eyes was a lifted muzzle and a peeled lip, a feeble snarl only half the threat of her sharpened talons.

A moment passed, then another, and after the third she was tired of keeping her weary conscious in a threatening state, dissolving into the fatigue driven nomad she’d been for months. Jenna was a traveler, though she wasn’t accustomed to it and so direly wanted to find home. In her mind, she had no family, and to what family was exactly, wasn’t in her memory bank. A lot was missing from her thoughts, good memories, bad ones, her childhood and her friendships. Past relationships weren’t even blurs, she didn’t know how to mate, and didn’t know if she’d had kids in the past. Her age wasn’t signified, not to her at least and as to where she truly belonged would forever be lost. There could have been a tragic accident that erased all this from her thoughts, the last months were she was born, raise, lived, but she couldn’t tell, nor remember. This was how she had been living for quite some time, and would continue living from this point on—there were new scents wafted into black nostrils belonging to such female, and as her head spun, the dream just wearing off, the conscious Jenna finally clicked, and a memorable word clicked in her head; ‘others’.

At a slow, sloppy walk, she passed through the pond, a minor block in her path to seeking friendships and connections, and proceeded on into the depth of trees, entering willingly into the land of Telk.

[D8 Word might have screwed with this, if it did I shall edit. x3]

The heat was stifling. Why was it so hot in these lands? Back home, the temperatures were always comfortable and one could sleep soundly at night without any disturbances from the weather. But this place was a whole other story. She had gone almost three days straight without so much as a good rest, and so she was feeling rather irritated and restless.

Determined to cool herself off, Hallie figured that she would find a nice river or something to cool off in. Rivers always had cold water, so perhaps if she drenched herself in the liquid from them, she'd be able to get at least a good nap in before her fur dried and the heat got to her again.

Growling to herself, the puppy stretched and promptly trotted out of the little abandoned fox hole she had taken refuge in when she could no longer move on. She had traveled quite a ways, and her paws were aching endlessly. And without any rest, she felt like it was only getting worse, which was why she was so determined to find a river and take a cooling bath before flopping down onto the ground and taking a nice nap. Even if it was short, it'd be rest nontheless.

Padding along, she looked this way and that. This place was still relatively new to the young female, and her drowsiness only made it worse and her attitude less pleasant.

"Gotta find a stupid river," she mumbled to herself, her ears back in frustration. And as she went along, that frustration blinded her to her surroundings, so she passed right by this older female, still grumbling.

shia-san
Jenna wasn't fully off the intoxicating feeling of slumber and was partially asleep, making her equally blinded though half aware of what she was doing and where she was going--even if exactly where she wanted to go was unknown, so once the young pup passed her walk way, she was half startled, half unaware. A rush of confusing and weary thoughts bounced into her head, and automatically she flinched, yelped and snarled, a combination that mashed together all at once. 'What?' Came afterwards, her heart racing. 'Hello? Um--puppy? Hello?' It was another automatic thing, the sight of such a small creature adorable as well as exciting. This pup was the first she's seen, the first she'll remember when thinking back to this forest.

Now, she could say she was fully awake and in feeling another rush surpassed her, directions turned and she was then padding along a different route, following the young pup happily.

Tamiko-chan
The sudden noise of a yelp and a snarl combined was enough for the unaware puppy to snarl and yelp in return. And the sudden appearance of an adult wolf didn't exactly help her nerves either. Where on earth had this one come from?!

Whirling around, she stared straight at the older female. Her ears were still back and the heat didn't seem to be fading away any time soon, and so she wasn't exactly in the best of moods. But, she noticed, this wolf didn't exactly seem threatening or anything of the sort. A second later, however, she remembered what her mother had told her. There were good actors in the world, and so she instantly put up her guard.

"I have a name," she snapped, sitting down a few feet away from the other. But then she continued on, apparently having no interest in actually saying what her name was. "What do you want? Were you following me?" That last question of hers made the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. Had her parents sent wolves to shadow her, to keep tabs and make sure she didn't do anything stupid? The very thought infuriated her, making her mood worse.

"And I'm really not in the mood to waste any time, so you better say something before I just leave."

shia-san
((Aw. ;_; We can't have that now can we!? -stocks up on pain pills-))

The abrupt stop jerked Jenna to a stand still, and a smile crossed her ebony chapped lips. The young pup was a snappy one, but it didn't phase her much. She wasn't exactly used to unkindly nature, however wouldn't let herself slump into such a character...well she wouldn't allow herself deep into the cruel strike she held. 'Oh...Well I'm sorry but I didn't know your name. If I did, I'd call you by it...And I'm new around these parts, thought meeting someone would help me get to know the area better.' the she-wolf paused, glancing away and towards the scene, clouded by darkness and humid air, the sky scattered with misty grey clouds. This wolf was obviously not the welcome wagon she'd hope for, however she'd get to know her the best she could--and the most this pup would allow. 'Oh, well where are ya headed, hm? By the way, even if you probably don’t care much, the names Jenna.'

Tamiko-chan
Hallie wasn't an angry wolf, really. She was just tired and lack of sleep often made her snappy. So when Jenna replied calmly and almost kindly, she instantly came out of her state. Sighing, she shook her head and averted her eyes.

"I'm sorry. I'm terribly tired and I didn't mean to snap at you like that. It's nice to meet you Jenna, I'm Hallie." She stopped and considered her situation for a moment. That Ava person a few days before had got her thinking. Maybe it hadn't been so good to send a pup out all on her own to track down some lost relative through these vast lands. Maybe it'd be helpful if she had some allies or friends or whatever.

Coming out of her thoughts, she shook her head again and forced herself to pay attention. Losing herself in her thoughts wasn't the best way to go about in these lands. She never knew when some crazy wolf would come along and devour her.

"And.. I'm new here too, so I probably wouldn't be much use, sorry. But maybe we could help each other out? I'm looking for my sister, Cassidy." She dropped a name with some hopes that perhaps this wolf had met her sister along the way. If not, then that was fine, at least she had tried.

shia-san
'It's fine, no worries. Hallie, that's a very nice name, suits you well.' Jenna nodded. So Hallie wasn't the wicked witch incarnated, this was good to know, and with a gentle sway of her tail she marked both Hallie's smell and name in the record books, first memory coming here aught to be something worth remembering. Falling slightly on her haunches, Jenna perked with interest to Hallie's following words. 'oh...well, sure we can help each other out!' her nose twitched, she would love to help Hallie, but alas she'd only come to the lands and didn't know a soul besides the youngster before her. 'I'd love the help you Hallie but your the first one I've met...But Cassidy, I could help you search for her sometime, or at least keep her in mind. If I see her around I'll try and let you know as soon as I can.' There was an assertive nod, followed by a jostled bark. Cassidy. Another new soul to meet.

Tamiko-chan
Hallie wagged her tail as she felt herself growing more comfortable with this new female. Her bad mood was forgotten as she busied herself with other things like holding a conversation. She perked her ears and was a good listener, as her mother had taught her to be. Besides, if she wasn't listening all the time, she might miss something important. It might have been a bit of a stretch, being as she had only seen two wolves thus far, but she had learned to be prepared and ready.

"I like your name, too, Jenna," she said sincerely, nodding as if it needed to be confirmed. But then she realized something. This wolf's name was the same as--"My mom's name is Jenna," she said matter-of-factly, tilting her head a little to the side. This wolf definitely wasn't her mother, there was no mistake about that. Besides, her mother wouldn't have left the packlands just to follow her youngest daughter around, that was for sure.

"But you look different than her, and act a little different too." Yes, her mother was more... strict, in a way. Much more of a keep-rebels-in-line sort of wolf than this Jenna here.

Then, when Jenna mentioned about keeping an eye out for Cassidy, the pup couldn't help but smile and wag her tail. "Why thank you. It's nice to know there are still helpful wolves in the world." The last was more of a mumble to herself, and she didn't really intend for Jenna to hear, though it didn't exactly matter. It was more of a personal issue that she had that caused her to say it.

"So anyways... what brings you out here?" she asked, tilting her head with pure curiousity.

shia-san
There was a momentary lapse while Jenna thought over a few things Hallie had said. Jenna was Jenna, it was her name, but then there was Jenna, Hallies mom. Attempting to put two and two together, the hound passed over everything else Hallie had said and shouted 'Oh my stars, Hallie I'm your--mom?' Mom. Now there was a deep concept.

A slow tassel wave began at the end of her rump, Jenna's expression excited and confused, a mixture of both. Brown eyes scanned the young pup, her own form lowering to level the eye contact. 'But you look nothing like me...you must be mistaken. You must, no?' Her ears shot back quickly, a quiet yelp echoing into the still air.

Tamiko-chan
Hallie widened her eyes and couldn't say anything for a good moment as Jenna seemed to think that she was being seen as Hallie's mom Jenna. It seemed to scare the older wolf a little, and she tried quickly to make her realize that this wasn't the case.

"Oh, no! No, no, no!" she laughed nervously, shaking her head. "You aren't my mom. My mom's back home, running our pack. You don't look like her, remember? I said that earlier." Maybe this Jenna hadn't been listening. Then again, maybe she had but the shock of sharing the name with some pup's mother didn't help her to hold onto the information real easily.

"I'm sorry if I confused you. No, you aren't my mother, I'm sure of it." Hopefully, the other female would calm down. She looked a bit flusted now that she thought she had a daughter.

But what was wrong with Jenna? Did she not remember if she'd had puppies or not? She seemed to be acting strangely. And since Hallie wasn't that old, she figured that Jenna must have hit her head or something to not remember back a few months.

"Are... are you okay?"

shia-san
It was a heart wrenching moment, though the relief of not being a mother to a pup she'd just met was lifted off her shoulders. Pulling slowly back to her haunches, she smirked, chortling softly. 'Ha, oh yes, yes. I'm sorry, I guess I just spaced--missed a few things. You didn't--exactly confusing, though...I guess. Just didn't know others could have the same name. It's pretty cool.' A slow nod came, followed by a gentle wag of her tail.

It wasn't till Hallie asked it, that she began to wonder herself, though she didn't think to in depth on it before replying. 'Ah, yeah sure of course I'm alright.' Her features wrinkled for a moment, the idea still dwelling, before taking a step past Hallie and peering off towards the pups original route. 'Um--so where were you headed?'

Tamiko-chan
Hallie gave a small, nervous laugh when the other female seemed to recover from her false shock. She supposed it must have been a little strange, meeting some pup and magically you have the same name as that pup's mother. But then she considered it again. There were plenty of wolves in the world for there to be more than one with the same name. So it was either this wolf was sheltered or she seriously didn't remember anything.

"Aha, yeah. Lots of wolves have the same name. It's a big world, ya know," she mumbled, rambling on now for the sake of having something to do other than think of how strangely Jenna was acting.

Yet her thoughts were disrupted when she was asked where she was going. Following the other's gaze, the small female stood upon her paws and turned around slightly. "Well, I was going to find a river to cool off in. I can't sleep with this heat!" she groaned, falling over onto her side for a dramatic effect.

"But now I'm not so sleepy, so I might just wander around a little and get used to the surroundings. I can't go back home, not without finding Cassidy first so.... the only way I can go is forward."

Still in progress...

shia-san
Jenna smirked passively, ears flicking back against her skull. She knew that. Yeah—of course she did. Jenna knew that she felt very embarrassed at the moment, but wasn’t sure if it was because she didn’t know these things, or because a pup had to tell her. Either way, she decided to let it pass. ‘Well then me, and you—we can go explore the wood, search for a cooling river and look for your sister!’ The female nodded, bouncing once into the air. She realized that Hallie couldn’t return home without bringing her sister back, so Jenna would in the end help Hallie out—in the best ways she could. Flicking her tail to and fro, she took one placid step forwards, then another, passing by Hallie in the process before glancing back. ‘So, what do you say?’

Tamiko-chan
Hallie didn't particularly care. She figured that maybe something had happened to Jenna to make her forget whether or not she had actually had any puppies before. So she merely shrugged it off and moved on to another topic. The other female, after all, didn't look like she wanted to talk much about her having children, so she respected that and kept her maw shut about it.

Moving on to another subject, the small pup wagged her tail back and forth excitedly. Thus far on her journey there hadn't been any others who were willing to help and had actually volunteered. So Jenna's offer was one she wouldn't pass up easily.

"I say it's a great idea!" she yipped, bounding off after her new friend. "Where do you think we should go, Jenna?" she asked in her high little voice, tilting her head slightly as she peered all around her. "I think we should go to a lake, that way we can swim! I've always wanted to swim," Hal blabbered on, flicking her ears around and catching any sound that managed to be made.

"Have you ever swam before?" she asked, stopping for a moment to glance up at the larger wolf.

shia-san
Jenna propped herself on her haunches for a moment, listening to Hallie as she spoke while scanning the terrain. It was fairly difficult to scope out such forest in the dark, however she figured she'd manage it. 'I agree Hallie, a river sounds splendid.' She nodded, turning about to peer at Hallie. 'And of course I've swam before! It's so much fun.' Her nose wrinkled, body twitching with anticipation as she began to take backwards steps, before spinning about to face the right way.

'Alright, so water. We should go--erm--' Jenna's gaze flicked wildly, left and right, behind them and in front of them, till she managed to make up her mind. 'Well--I think we should head, that way.' her gestures were motioned towards the upper left side of their position, a smile passing over her lips. ‘What do you think?’

Tamiko-chan
The little female smiled and bounced about Jenna for a moment before she settled down on her haunches straight in front of her. "Really? I've never swam before. Momma never really let me. I don't know why though. But I think I'd like to try.... will you teach me?" she asked, her small tail wagging back and forth across the ground.

She calmed down a little, however, when her friend motioned which direction they should head off in. Raising to her paws, she glanced off towards where Jenna had pointed to. "That way? Yeah, I guess that's fine. I mean, I don't know my way around here, so any way is fine with me." She smiled and bounced forward a foot or so.

"Say... Jenna?" she began, glancing at the ground for a moment. "Will you always be my friend?"

shia-san
Jenna was surprised for a brief moment. Hallie didn't know how to swim? Yet it was the greatest past time there was! Yipping lightly, the female smirked. 'Of course I'll teach you how to swim. Everyone deserves to know how.' Her head bounced in a nod, tail lashing constantly. This was even better, to know that she would teach someone else something, especially Hallie. Taking a light step forwards, she sniffed the air before responding to the pup. 'Yeah, I also don't really know if that's a good way, but I think we should head towards it just because. We can map out the woods this way.'

Jenna wasn't sure if what she was saying was accurate, however it seemed to work, and so she shrugged it off and glanced towards the skies. A flock of dismal black crows swooped by, evening brining them the pleasures of free hunting grounds, without the threat of wolves, foxes, bears...the like. Their flight sparked Jenna's attention, and she watched them fly off into the night, ears perked and body pointed forwards. 'Birds are also fun to play with; I'll teach you how to use 'em sometime.' She nodded; glad to know there was someone who would listen to her.

As Hallie asked the last question, Jenna couldn't help but smile. There was someone in this world that was willing to stay with her forever--or at least keep friendly contact with, and for some odd reason, this brought a bubbly, almost floating sensation. Just the knowledge of Hallie wanting to stay friends was enough to send her happy meter out the roof. Lowering her small, soft head, she bumped her muzzle into Hallie's and smiled. 'Always.' After that, she lifted to her full height, took a few steps forwards, before giggling and calling back to Hallie to follow.

Indeed, she would stay Hallie's friend for as long as the pup would allow it.

:: Why, allo there poppet! What brings you out and about? :: Catalyst x Ileana

Fetch the bird, fetch the bird, fetch the bird...

Four strong legs sprinted through the forest, a fast paced pant audible over the roar of his pounding paws. Overhead was a single black avian, flying full speed with it's eyes darting from the sky before him to the wolf chasing below. He was confused, not a smart one out of his species, and all in all figured that the instinct he felt was the key to escaping this beast of four limbs--and that was to run; or rather fly. He dodged the very tips of trees and swooped higher by the second.

However, the wolf below was becoming more and more annoyed, the height of this bird gradually getting to far out of reach. At one point, he was able to snap it right out of the air, but at this time that crow was home free. Safe. Catalyst groaned, sighing heavily before taking an abrupt detour to his left and leaping into the foliage where he slowed to a walk. It had already been a day since he'd returned to the free lands and he had yet to see any wolves worth taking back. His pack had dwindled, not that it ever was much of a pack to begin with. Kirra, his faithful pal, had run off with his son and as far as he knew was off making babies or claiming land for their own. He would always welcome her back; however she had definitely surprised him in the end. As for his kids, all three, they'd been missing since--forever. They were lost causes now, and both Catalyst and his mate, Kalia, had forgotten about them. Partially.

After his veer, he found himself closer to a river then he'd expected and took the opportunity to rest--the game of catch that bird now over and done with, his childish charm dissolving. He eyed the water, peering into its surface and sighed, lowering his muzzle and lapping casually at the liquid. It filled him, quenching his thirst, however inwardly he was still depressed and no amount of food or water could fill it. For a moment, he kept his head lowered, eyes shut and tongue dangling, yet from above he heard a loud caw and finally brought himself to peering towards it. 'Stupid thing.' he whispered, shaking his head and watching the black figure circle. From above, the bird flapped about, mocking the wolf. A drop came from the skies like a pelting rain, and immediately Catalyst's heart sank once again--great, rain. He watched it fall, and hit the water, creating a small ripple but didn't dissolve into nothing. Instead, what fell was thick and creamy white. Another fell, beside the male wolf and in return he barked to the sky, then laughed.

Pft, missed.

Another came.

Ugh.

Ary Keeyara
Small paws scrambled clumsily along the riverbank, loosening dirt and mud and stones along the way. The growing blue hued puppy seemed to be heading in no direction in particular, though she didn't look lost either. But it was strange for someone her age to be out on her own, espeically if the weather was taking a turn for the worse. Her posture was slow and reserved, though not that of someone broken or fearful. Mild perhaps, but the way her dark eyes shifted under the dark markings in her fur showed that she might be searching for something.

Her snout drifted to the muddied ground, trying to catch of the scent of what she sought, but found nothing. She curved along and trotted to the water's edge with her short legs. Without even looking up she lapped at the water. Having her gaze downcast for so long made it easy for her to miss the adult wolf not far away along the same water line as she. If she had know it was likely she could have tried to slink away. She somehow didn't seem the social type, sad as that was. Shouldn't puppies be playing with others at her age?

shia-san
Catalyst was only slightly upset at the moment, caught up in the dung of a bird that rested right on the tip of his nose. It was a shame that creatures like avian were allowed to live in this world--they only caused a heap of trouble for the rest of them. At the moment the pup arrived, he was busily shoving his muzzle into the water and pawing awkwardly at it, the smearing gunk slowly running away into the liquids flow, leaving him only a tad bit moist. Upon lifting his snout, he spotted the youth and quirked a brow, his tail curling with prestige.

'Hello there little one, my aren't we in a hurry...' His smooth yet rich voice streamed into the open, craving for attention. He cleared his throat once, then took a step back and seated himself in the muck, ears flicking forwards towards the pup. It wasn't exactly odd for him to see a young wolf such as her wandering by herself, so he wasn't at all curious to that matter. Flicking his tongue out and rounding the top of his muzzle, he waited for her reply, just hoping she would run off or something.

Ary Keeyara
Ileana froze as the voice rached her. Instinctively her hackles rose and her tail curled beneath her, slipping between her legs. Almost as if something was making it hard for her to move, she turned her head stiffly, her ears quivering ever so slightly in surprise. She stared at him with round dark eyes before her ears flickered back to press against her skull.

She had only met a full grown adult(apart from her parents) once and they hadn't been the nicest of wolves. While she had come to no harm, it hadn't exactly helped her slightly anti-social behavior. Her jaws parted slightly as she stared, but she quickly snapped them shut and ducked her head in a shy manner, making it impossible to meet her gaze.

shia-san
Confused, shocked and annoyed, the adult male huffed and lifted himself off the ground, rump now horribly dirty. 'Don't be shy girl, I won't hurt you. Tell me though, what could possibly be the name of such a pretty pup hm?' Oh, it was a sad day when even Catalyst began to charm the younger wolves. Much younger in fact, and he regretted coming to this river in the first place. He was in search of adult wolves, more or less adult, that could help the pack in more then one ways...

With a quick shake, the male tilted his head to one side, his figure poising itself into the Alpha posture it should be in, and approached slowly, taking one step before freezing. 'Honestly, I won't kill a pup. I won't hurt you dear, you can look at Me.' muti-colored eyes flickered slightly, ears pointed and stiff; as became the rest of him.

Ary Keeyara
Ileana felt even more shy then before to have him address her so. And being called pretty was weird. Everything about this male seemed strange to her. She couldn't really help it-she had a crazy, unreasonable family. Everyone but her mother seemed to have a mental illness and it almost seemed like she had a social one by the way she acted.

When she did peek up at him, however, she quickly looked away in confusion. She had seen him take up his alpha stance and was utterly bewildered by it. Her family didn't seem to have such things...it was father being bossy or mother trying to control everyone pretty much. There weren't any ranks as far as she could tell and seeing him in what was supposed to be on, flaunting it, made her uneasy. And his talk of killing a pup...it hadn't even crossed her mind until he had said it. She shuttered, unsure of what to do now. A small sound squeezed out of her throat but it wasn't words or anything near it.

shia-san
Catalyst cringed, though the pups eyes were most likely already facing the earth once more. Why was she being so unreasonable--he was trying his best to appear kind? Not that he wasn't kind but--nonetheless. His tail swayed slightly, and a soft sigh escaped his muzzle. '...Well if you're not going to speak, my name is Catalyst.' His eyes peered towards the pup once more, ears flicking back. 'Don't be rude and not tell me yours. And where are your parents dear? You shouldn’t run-a-muck—these woods can become mighty dangerous without protection.’ He nodded, knowingly, though nothing really served to much danger to him at the time being.

Ary Keeyara
Ileana still felt at rather a loss of what to do. Why was this guy so insistant on her talking? Couldn't he just...leave her be? Not one ever did though, she should know that by now. Not her siblings when they were around and certainly not strangers. Strangers seemed even more nosey then her family and that only unsettled her stomach, among other things.

She frowned nervously at his comment of being rude. Did she care about manners? Not really...she had never been taught any. But then she remembered how she had something about killing pups...and he just added that it was dangerous in these woods! She didn't want him to thing it was a good idea to hurt her or anything. So she simply said her name, without any other words attatched, "I-Ileana."

shia-san
'Ileana eh.' The male paused, eyes flicking to and for a moment before gliding to the sky. 'I guess--that's a nice name. Why are you out here alone? Earlier you looked like you were looking for something.' He plopped back onto the floor, a confused expression held on his features.

He had yet to meet a pup who wasn't will to speak with a stranger--or him in fact. Well, that was a lie seeing that this was the very first time he ever spoke to a pup, and so he understood how it could be intimidating. Sliding his left foot deeper into the muddy earth, he managed to finalize why she acted the way she did--her parents were alive. She was the second generation to some family, and so they must've taught her to watch out for strange wolves--good call, he supposed, however she would never make it in finding friends if she just sat quiet and scared. Clearing his throat, he spoke again, this time a bit friendlier. 'Why are you so quiet? If I meant to kill you off I think it would already be done…'

Oh—wait. Smooth. ‘Not that I would—ugh.’ Of course any pup with half a brain would fear some random wolf coming up and chattering on about killing pups and the like—what was running through her head right now, he couldn’t say but by the looks of it, his words weren’t soothing her the least.

It was before the birth of Beere. In fact, many years from now he would meet the small pup. So for now, in these days before his peace with Xan and before the hells of Phib and young pups. Before murderous plots by Phantom, when he still thought Kara was long dead, he walked.

It was an endless trail of self-suffering and hatred. He abused himself without knowing it was him that did so. Not willing to admit he was that part of himself, but truly believing he was inhabited by another seer of ancient times. To be truthful, no one knew what suffering in his past made him so cold to the world, or what wonders made his other half so kind. All he knew was that he wanted Xan gone, gone now.

These were the times when Xan was at his most fierce. Uncontrollable, surfacing at any time, especially when other wolves came around. His mouth would show a sharpened smile. Kiros wouldn't be able to stop him. Sometimes they killed for the pleasure of it, but most of all Xan liked to search out and torture other wolves. Smaller ones, he picked on the ones with less advantage. Large wolves were just not his type, mostly because they could deal a killing blow. At times, though, he would decide that a target was an interesting enough toy to play with.

Kiros found himself looking dowards, bi colored eyes falling over the edge of a cliff, to the depths below. Spread out before him was the bowels of a valley. The sun was just beginning to rise over the distant horizon, shooting orange through the thick air. Its light danced over the winding crystal snake, and up onto his dark fur, casting an eerie glow on his figure. Xan had not yet spoken, the day was completely silent, no birds spoke a story, only a slight wind caressed his feet. This was his life, his home, so dangerously deetering on the edge, close to death.

shia-san
The crack of wood, the gentle scrapping of passing fur, the eyes of contained beast glazed by the sight of another wolf. Catalyst perched on his haunches, ears pointed and tall. 'Big ain't it. The fields I mean.' Came a rich voice, slightly rugged in tone. It was a Mexican wolf male that stood quaintly at the edge of the tree line, looking out to the sky, and boy, ahead. The sky was pleasant, bright lights spanning outwards in an alluring fashion--the hues it brought only more enticing to the eye. The cliff, only feet away, planted a symbolic importance and fear in the alpha's eyes. One wrong step made purposely or not, would send you crashing down the edge and into the darkness. Of course, literally the poor soul that fell would land in a bright patch of green blades, long and slender and soft to the touch, but everything inside would be dark, dismal and silent. He didn't bother approaching, eyes wandering on the male wolfs figure, searching for any signs of a threat. The honest truth why the Mexican bred wolf was there in the first place, was in fact because the sight of any creature standing on the edge of any cliff, seemed unsettling--wrong. His tail flickered, however held its stature, and after a few seconds promptly stiffened and stilled.

He wasn't worried, he had little care for this wolf being that he hadn't met him in his life--however just the sight of it made Catalyst just a bit edgy, worried even. He wasn't a heartless fellow, and indeed breathed with the beating heart of a loving soul, however wouldn't stand in the way of an unwilling other. One step was taken, left forelimb crossing the right, a broad chest extending in the half-step, then another which led him completely out of the wooded terrain and onto the cliffs silent domain. From there, he stopped and listened.

:: A reunion? New lands? :: Amani x Phib x Naib

Ookami_kinrei_chan

Time had passed since Amani and Phib had first journeyed towards the Outriders pack lands. The lands had, strangely enough, not been quite as far away as Amani had first imagined. She had at first raced alongside Phib for a while, but she had hesitated a little when coming into new territory, and thus slowed her pace, following Phib from behind.

"It's all so new to me," Amani laughed, as she had slowed, "So I hope you don't mind me being a little overly cautious. You're pretty fast, too, Phib. You know the way much better than I do, so I'd prefer to trail behind you, if that's permitable enough."

However, as they neared Phib's territory, Amani found her courage growing. The smell of salt lingered in the air, stronger than ever, and with every step she took, Amani felt herself drowning in new, strange scents she had never encountered before. It was brilliant, fantastic... the scents sent chills down Amani's spine!
These coastal scents were much more interesting to Amani than the dull, woodland scent she had grown up with. Taking a deep breath, Amani pulled to Phib's side, increasing her speed.

"The air you breathe in your pack lands must be extremely clear," she sighed, "Do you get a coastal breeze where you are? I can't feel one here... but it feels as though the ocean is not so far off. Is your pack close by?"

She paused, remembering what Phib had told her about Naib's whereabouts... the borderline. That's where her sister had been living all this time, according to the old king. Amani felt her spirits soar. She felt happier than ever, adventuring for the first time.

Like the water that traveled down the creeks near her puppyhood den, Amani was going on a journey. Her life was taking a turn in an interesting direction... and Amani was ready to embrace a new life, a life like this. She wasn't sure what she would do after finding her sister, nor what Phib would do when he got back home, but she decided that this was something worth finding out.

"Phib," Amani breathed, as they ran, "Thankyou for this."

Werewolf
He hadn’t realized he was walking so fast until the girl’s voice caught him lightly on the back of the ear. Had he been listening at all? For a moment he craned his neck and stopped, his brow furrowing and end of his tail swaying in slow thought. He was getting into the habit of being somewhat addled minded. Too much to think about, Phib imagined. With a soft snort, he turned around, and apologetically flecked the corner of his left ear.

“Sorry- I suppose I go home so often I don’t realize what I’m doing.” His rough voice replied in a low thrum. He did not seem too bothered by the caution on her part, and a small grin had slid across his broad muzzle.

“Not far, we’re just about there.” He remarked with a faint yawn. “We get a lot of wind, sometimes a bit too much; but in this part of the wood it’s not so bad. When storms come in, it can be rather nasty on the direct coast.” As far as where the pack was exactly, he had really no idea. It was a large group, and it was riddled with small groups that moved about as they would. Their scent was about, and he could feel the familiar stroking sensation of his mind being fumbled by Ame. He was getting rather savvy about picking up when she was poking in his head.

“Naib is just around here. It’s early, so I can’t say if Rio is about; although I am sure he’ll make an appearance sometime.” He added offhandedly. Speaking of the shaman, he needed to get the weather for today from him.

She suddenly crested beside him, and brought them into a slow run. She was excited, and he couldnt help but feel pleased. Too much tradgedy in reccent months, it was nice to have someone happy. But despite his slight arrogency and coy nature, he could only nod to the thankyou. The pleased feeling was fine enough.

When finally they did get close enough, he pulled somewhat to a stop, and tilted his head up in a low, short howl. Although perhaps it was less a howl then a strangled bark, announcing his presense to the immediate area- namely, Naib.

A soft slide of a brushy tail gliding past a thick shrub made it's way into the dreary silence, the ambush of sea-salted scents burning the insides of her nose. The entire muzzle wrinkled in distress of the vulgar impact, however she welcomed it all the same. She was yet to become accustomed to the strong scent of the near by ocean, being so used to piney wood fragrances--which, Phib's pack provided in a wide variety--but nonetheless it was a difference and a big change for the female, something she was so pleasurably getting fond of.

It wasn't hard to live here, with her newly found love Rio and her growing trust with the King, Phib; everything seemed in place. Her life was put into a listed order, and the things deemed most important stayed at the top, while the rest lingered in a mixture of itself. Very easy, very crisp, very clean. She liked having idealistic life and real life in one set package, and she liked knowing that the complicity of outside living was now gone for what seemed to be good. She was safe in this territory; she was welcomed and beyond any of this loved. Her walk staggered, familiar scents lingering near by, but concocted with millions of other dwelling smells that it was hard to firmly make out. One was Phib, she was clear of this--his own aroma capable of making a gash through any amount of thick odor. That was all her nose could pick up through the foggy mixture of different wolf smells, each one stronger then the next. Self consciously, she felt the presences of another tagging along Phib's, but couldn't, and wouldn't go with her gut.

She pressed on after the abrupt halt, moving swiftly through the foliage, treading just to the left of where Phib and his guest moved towards her. It was a sighting just meant to happen, but never occurred till after the gruff calling came to ear. Hiking both harks and pausing in mid step, Naib began to wildly test the air. Phib was indeed close, and his guest was now obtainable--a female friend. Her direct scent was mixed with other, more undetectable ones, yet she was familiar in a blood related way. Flicking her tail to and fro, she began a slow trot towards the voice, responding only after taking yet another stop with her own howl--which echoed the very clear answer of 'I'm here, I'm here! I'm coming now.'

Slapping her feet onto the hard earth with ease, she moved hastily. That smell, so alike the ones she's inhaled before, but why couldn't she pick it up instantly. It fought to click in her head, and rebelliously made it hard for her nose to make sense of the feelings. Was the mask of other pack members far to overbearing? It couldn't be that, but the direct smell that came from the female. The distance between the lot was covered quickly, Naib racing to relinquish her curiosity. She curved a bundle of tree trunks, sliding on her heels and turning swiftly before clearing into the direct path of both Phib and the girl. So familiar, and with eyes baring, locked on to the other wolf , she released a breath. Cool and calm, however filled with every gushing emotion that seemed to drop from her shoulders and into her throat.

The words poured like water from her thin muzzle then, after the long pause--whether it was just her own body blocking out other sounds or truely a shocked and dramatic silence held by both parties, her body becoming a soft, tender piece of fabric in the forest belonging to the gallant king Phib; 'Amani'

Ookami_kinrei_chan
(( ^^- Sorry for the delay, I went away to the country for a couple of days. =3 ))

A familiar scent wafted around the area and Amani found herself padding closer to Phib's side, daunted by the large, unusual territory that now surrounded them. Amani was drowning in many new sights and scents, becoming slightly overwhelmed by everything. It reminded her of her days as a pup... just when she had thought she'd seen everything, she'd open her eyes wider and discover that there was more to see.

Panting a little, she pulled to a halt next to the black-pelted king, catching her breath. The run to Phib's lands had been a lengthy one, and Amani had only realised how tired she actually was when she had stopped.

"Phib," Amani asked, trembling a little, "Naib... is she happy here?"

A gentle breeze picked up, stroking Amani's cheeks and ruffling her fur. The breeze felt nice, but slightly chilly, and Amani felt herself shivering. However, the temperature of the wind had little to do with her constantly occuring shivers... the anticipation of a reunion with her sister was an exhilarating thought for the young wolf, enough to send her into trembles.

Everything from that moment on seemed slow, blurry, almost dream-like. Phib had howled, Amani could recall, and a stranger's voice had answered back, informing the king that she was drawing near. Again, that oddly familiar aroma approached... it grew stronger, greater, until Amani could not help but become even more increasingly nervous.

She had fidgeted, uncomfortably, for a few fleeting moments, then caught sight of a young, female wolf. She seemed the same age as Amani, with her paws tipped with a lighter brown than the rest of her body. The black muzzle and tipped ears seemed so well-known to Amani... it took her a few seconds to sniff in the stranger's aroma, before she realised the identity of the one standing before her.

Was that really her sister? The Amani stared breathlessly at the pretty female standing a few metres away from her own very paws.

"N...Naib?" Amani gasped, "It's you, isn't it? It's really you!"

She couldn't believe it. Here Naib was, standing in front of Amani... in the flesh. Her sister had grown since they had last met... many changes had happened to both the girl's physical appearance, but somehow Naib was still quite recognisable.

Stepping forward, Amani leapt up, attempting to lick her sister's muzzle.

"I never thought I would see you again... but I can tell by your scent, Naib, that's it really is you!"

Werewolf
He faintly heard Amani tremble beside him, and pulled his neck somewhat to the left to look at her. He hated to hear that noise coming from women. It was something like breathing caught in a bottle- Amélie did it when she was nervous, and it always made his heart heavy. “You’ll have to ask her yourself,” Phib spoke, his voice thick.

From over the slight incline in the land, he could hear Naib’s return howl, and faintly contorted the corner of his tail. It was perhaps the closest he could come to a full wag, but his face kept a pleased expression across it. But for anything more, he had not said a word, and had taken a few steps back and sat, watching as Amani suddenly realized Naib, and the two sisters took off for one another.

Phib was the kind of man who liked to admit he was much different then he was. Regardless- it was obvious that such a happy moment was not lost on him.

shia-san
However long it took Amani to realize Naib was indeed her kin, it was doubled for the young female who stood, only slightly baffled by the reintroduction. Amani's words were muffled, blurred and lost in her head and sharp, excited movements that came from her so-said older sister frightened the she-wolf, so little however that only a flinch occurred when a slithering tongue came in contact with her shut maw. The entire thing flashed in a moment, and a long delay took place from Amani's last words. Naib did not resist the affection this female offered, however as lost in the moment as she was, there was little she could give in return. Words were her best bet at this moment, and soon it would hit her that Amani was here.

'Me--really me...' Her placid green gaze followed Amani's form, the pelt clicking lost memories--mother, father, a blend. Her smell smacked against the black nose of Naib's features, and another switch went off. Original scents of crossed blood between Soul and Isaac flickered, and then came the smell of her own--this was the main plug that made the realization of the moment occur. The tip of her tail began slight movements, twitching of the sorts, before lashing back and forth in a frenzy of uncontrollable excitement. Her intentions were to keep as calm a head as she could, with Phib watching the two; however this wasn't an option, and moving towards her older sibling was like moving into the gates of a haven. Pressing her forehead against Amani's was so natural, even when they'd been seperated for the time they had. Naib felt feeble near her sister, the sensation of finding something that was thought to be lost even more enjoyable and rewarding then catching an entire herd of deer. Her body language signaled total submissive behavior, convulsive shudders rumbling through her in a spastic rate. She rolled on her back several times, lurching her head towards the muzzle of her sisters and extending her own pink tongue towards it, pawing and whining all the while.

Phib was distant through the ordeal, something left in the back of her mind, but not forgotten and only for a while. The forest was there, however being in Phibs territory seemed to mean nothing. Happiness had taken over the female, and all she could do was bask in it.

Ookami_kinrei_chan
Amani's own flood of mixed feelings almost equalled Naib's. Those same, exhilarating rushes of emotions built up inside the young she-wolf, and stirred her up. Her heart was now beating rapidly, and she was panting. The sights, the sounds, the voices around her... everything, including the King, was now a blur. Everything except Naib.

Naib, her sister. She'd found her sister!

What a reunion this was. Amani felt she had never experienced such affection in her life... Naib was simply there, licking, nuzzling, nudging. Both eyes were bright, both tails were twitching... oh, there was so much going on!

Yet, Amani's heart almost tore into two pieces. Through the licks and warmth, she could feel a slight chill. Suddenly, another feeling seeped icily through the warmth, sending uneasy thoughts about the back of Amani's mind...

'Why?' Amani's thoughts were now turning into something sad, bemused and slightly bitter, 'Why didn't anyone come back?'

The months of staying by the den, waiting for her family, gripped Amani's thoughts, and the she-wolf suddenly pulled away from Naib. She felt a mixture of emotions... the joy of seeing her sister again, the pain of being alone for so long, the agonising wait the girl had endured as a pup...

"Naib, I waited..." Amani's voice shook with sadness, "But... nobody ever came. I was scared. I...I didn't want to leave the den. I returned, but everyone had left. So I waited... and waited..."

Suddenly, her voice became desperate.

"Naib! Where's Mother?! Sigrid?! Rhesus?! They must be with you, right? Right?!"

Werewolf
A pleasant rumble resounded across the old king’s chest, and he shifted the corner of his ear somewhat awkwardly. It was a happy reunion, and that was good to see. He kept himself somewhat to the side, unwilling to barge in upon the women until they had finished. He couldn’t decide what was stranger- the fact that he felt himself questioning the bonds of sisterhood, or the fact that he had never had such a relationship with his brothers and sisters. Hell- there were a few of them he had never even learned the names for. Or forget siblings. Did anyone in his family have happy reunions?

Azalea- it would be nice to see her again. She had always been a good friend to him. But with both of them getting older, he doubted there would be such a chance in the future. Kahj, his conniving older brother. He sometimes missed him. He was a likeable pain in his rear.

His mother-? Well, that was one person he hoped not have a reunion with.

Was that tragic?

shia-san
'Amani....' Her voice was hoarse, the desire to coil about her sister and smother her in affection, now beginning to ware away. Her lean form slide away from her older sister's, and her head bobbed low to the ground, eyes focused on Amani. 'We--we didn't know what happened to you...You or anyone else for that matter. Mother and I, well we stuck together for a long while, but then I--' the female's throat caught, and her eyes began to nervously switch gaze from Amani's left and right gaze. She couldn't tell her sister about Rio, not now a least, but it was the only explanation as to why she left. The only true one. Her body wriggled with tension, and she glanced to Phib, almost pleading for a way out of her dilemma. 'Amani, I left mom. Rhes, hell I don't know where he went and as for the rest of our family--it just tore in two Amani. We weren't a family anymore. Mom and I, we migrated constantly within the pack grounds, yet we never seemed to find what we wanted...We didn't know you were alive Amani, we just weren't sure you were still around.'

A low whine came whisking from her throat, tail tucking low and grim to her thighs. 'We never meant to hurt you, or scare you...we just didn't know what to do. Father left us, everybody just sort of...left.' in a desperate plea, the female craned her neck and attempted to nuzzle the side of Amani's head, gentle huffs coming from her throat in both groans and whines pulled together. It was heartbreaking, seeing her sister the way she did now, yet the truth was the truth, and there were little ways of getting around it. 'Mom is not here. Sigrid and Rhesus are grown up, they've probably started families already...it's just you, and me here now, with Phib and his pack to guide us.' pushing with her hind legs, Naib's body forced itself a step forwards, so as she could rub her neck around Amani's. The craving need for protection from her older sibling seemed to take over Naib as she groomed her sister's pelt incessantly. 'I--I won't leave you again, I promise...now that we're together, I won't leave you.'

I promise.

Part: I:

'Brethren, Brethren Krog, please awaken--I hear another about.' came a whine from within the shadows of the wood. There was a rustle in the tree's, uncommon to the harks of the youngling and as darkness thickened, the terror it brought awakened. They were of youth, these two teens who shuddered beneath the underbrush, cowering in fright. 'Krog, brethren Krog awaken!' there was a push, rough and boney, that came from Krogs young sergeant sibling who, with his hind leg, kicked against his side; A desperate attempt to stir the heavy sleeper.

'What--What is it Termite?' came a groggy response, after a quick and loud yelp. The voice was hoarse and had an Australian accent to it, thick and heavy. 'Krog, brethren Krog! I hear someone about, someone is out there! They are coming closer, can you not smell them.' The skies bellowed, thrusting quick and sharp gusts of winds to blow straight into the two young teens, throwing off the scent of the travelers who scurried down wind. The gait was followed by a drizzle (which soon turned into a storm) of rain, which clouded any left-over drifting smells, in turn causing the fatigue driven pup to rustle angrily. 'I smell nothing of the sort, now shut your trap aye?' Krog's body shifted until he had managed to roll onto his back, muzzle pointing upwards. The other pup took this opportunity to get right in his face, his breaths heavy and distressed. 'Krog, get your body up off the ground and open your nose! They are coming; I can still hear them through the rain and winds! Please brother, please!' Krog, still of course uneasy and enraged with his younger sibling, shifted over again, rolling onto his belly and finally thrusting up on his paws; of course forgetting they rested under a heap of thorns and coincidently jabbing his head, neck and back with the prickly plant. 'Damned thing!' he hollered, his grunts and whines auditable by the approaching two-legged.

'Krog, listen--' Termite hesitated, freezing suddenly as feet were visible through the shimmering silver pelts of water. Krog spotted the drops of cream too, and instinctively froze with Termites words. There was a long silence, the feet of the two-legged circling the bush and shifting this way and that, stopping and continuing as if in desperate search of something. After a while of motion coming from outside the bushes, the cream colored feet disappeared into the storm, their inhuman grunts and clicks of the tongue audible still. 'K-Krog, are they gone?' whispered the youngest, terrified at the moment. 'Shh--shut up Termite before I'm--'

Caught. There was a loud call, the two brothers had mistaken the footsteps disappearing as the only ones about, and found their bodies torn away from one another and separated from the bush. Krog had little time to look to his brother, for another human came hurriedly, took up Termite and brought a sharp, rock made blade to his neck, finding the soft tendons in-between the apple of his throat, and punctured a deep wound into his flesh. Dropping the body, the human then approached Krog, who instinctively took defense. His tail hung over his back, hind legs stretched and muscles tensed. His neck found its safe-haven between the shoulder blades of his back and his spine became ridged. Hackles became a bristling clump of fur as he made vicious attempts at the humans by snapping and growling. The humans lowered to their knee's slightly, almost in a squatting position, and drew out their daggers, hopping from one foot to the next in an almost dance-ritual act. They then looked to one another, finding their attacks futile.

'Shall we take him back to the tribe?' spoke one, keeping his eyes on the black male. 'K'kabuka will be most pleased with this one, he is a sure winner' the first human who spoke at this time bore no hair, his head was shiny and tanned with red tattoos along the top and sides. The other, who spoke just a few moments after the first one, had a head of black hair and no tattoo's, yet his eyes were deep green while the others was black. 'Yes, let us take him back, the tribe will make great earnings off of him.' suddenly, they nodded to one another, Krog still looking to both, foam flooding from his jaws and eyes blazed with anger. They approached him and with out hesitation grabbed onto his jaw's, their grip stronger then expected, and pressed their full body weight onto the teen. Krog, still sleepy and weak fell under the pressure, the top of his maw covered by hands.

They managed to tie his hind legs together on a long stick, which they held on their shoulders. Krog was hurled into the air and hung upside down; his attempts at escape were made futile. His head felt heavy and weak and as his adrenalin rushed, he felt woozy too, eyes fluttering with a growing pain. Before loosing all consciousness, the male gazed to his young brother who laid lifeless on the dirt floor. His blood that leads from his neck to the bush was dim color and looked like a pool of red salmon, all swimming away from the source of the lake.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It did not take the travelers long to reach the tribe. Entering the scene through a thick array of smoke that came from the large pit-fire created in the center of the circled tents. Krog's head fell limp long before and dangled threateningly from the stick, looking as if it were about to fall off like a bird perched precariously upon a branch. There were loud calls before the two men entered the tribe?s grounds, but once they were visible to the followers, all was silent. The two-legged that held Krog walked steadily to a man seated on a rock in front of the fire. He wore a large, red and yellow head-dress with hanging beads and feathers that were long and thick. He watched the flames flicker and spark, watching the smoke dance into the midnight air, and then he turned his head to peer to the men, who with a nod lowered Krog onto the earth with a thump. 'Careful boyssss.' the man hissed, his brittle voice cracking and his hands beginning to stroke the black fur on the wolfs side. 'We do not want the child harmed.' his lips spread, wrinkled and rigid, and bore lines of yellow teeth, many were missing, but a majority of them were there. His eyes were sunken into his face, sags all along his cheeks and chin and neck. He lowered his gaze to the wolf, silent all the while, and curiously asked the men a question. 'How old do you think he is?' The men looked to one another and shrugged. 'We do not know.' The elder man nodded slowly, a low 'hmmm' coming from his throat. 'And, was he alone?' the man took Krogs hind leg and lifted it, reassuring himself it was a male. 'There was--.' 'Ahhhh' cried the elder man softly, bringing his hands into the air and shaking them, the bangle like items on his wrists ringing out, silencing the group once again. 'This wolffff, is but a young boyyyy. A juvenile....You have brought me a CHILD.' the mans hand struck a wooden table that rested beside him on the opposite side, a mug of clay filled with red paint spilling on the floor. 'Look what you have dooooone. What will I be able to do with a childdd?' his voice calmed dramatically, his hand stroking the fur on Krogs belly now. 'We do not know--' 'You do not know you know nothing!' the elder became enraged again, his patience obviously growing weary.

At this moment, with the noises striking away at Krogs head, he awoke and grumbled, lifting his head and blinking at the elder man. What--who are you? Were his initial thoughts, his crisp blue eyes fluttering, surrounded by thick black fur. The elder man brought his hands to his knee's, lowering his torso and head down to face the wolfs, nose to nose, his elbows reaching to the sky. He stared at the wolves face for a long moment, Krog to tired to realize who sat before him and were he sat and why he was here. Then, the man took the back of his hand, and struck Krog like one would a disobedient child. The wolf's head fell limp, as did his body, black and still. 'Go, take him to Huntoaa'sh, he shall schedule a day for this dog to be tested.' The men nodded, feverously, and lifted the stick once more, carrying it to another hut near the back. The tribe had fell silent with the commotion, but as the elder man watched the men walk off, and then turn about with stern, heavy eyes, they busied themselves once more. He stared at the cluster of people for brief moments, before slowly casting a glance at the fallen paint. He brought his forefinger and his middle finger to the puddle of red, already seeping towards the fire, and slid them over the paint. Afterwards, while bringing the paint to where he could see it he rubbed his thumb against the two painted fingers and stared at the scarlet coloration, bringing down his fingers slightly and flicking the loose droplets of it into the fire, watching silently as the flames exploded into the sky, but not outwards. He stood, bringing himself up with a smile and looked into the fire, the logs at the bottom visible. There, spotted on a charred piece of wood was an evident sign of red, sliding deeper into the pit. There was a low, satisfied grunt that escaped the mans throat before he turned on his heels and stepped into his small tent, disappearing into the silent darkness.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There were curious thoughts bubbling within Krogs head while he went through the 'wake up and get hit' event. He saw images of turmoil, or at least he thought they were images. They could easily be presumed as images of the word turmoil, but all that didn't matter. He felt a twisting in his stomach and as he was lifted off the dirt ground and taken to another part of the tribes land, he felt awkwardly uncomfortable. He didn't belong here, he knew he didn't, and with this knowledge he fought against his unconscious state, forcing himself awake in a dreary, dream like sequence that lasted until they reached the other human, who this time hid within an even bigger tent, yet it was hidden away from the pack and less extravagant then the other elder mans. The three pressed through the flap and entered into the room which was lit with a small pit of fire in the center of the room. Because Krog was awake and upside down, he was able to see that at the top of the tent was a large hole, allowing all the smoke to escape the tent instead of flood it out. Krog was pushed once again onto the ground, and this time there wasn't a hand that pressed against his side. There was nothing, the only things touching him were the bounds on his feet and the ground under his body.

He had quickly learned something within the last few hours of his life as a free wolf: Do not trust a humans hand with touches. Later, this rule may be broken by his sheer mentality of the humans and their easily pierced skin, but at this moment that was all he could figure. He whined, the pain from the other elder mans whack beginning to sting; the cut that had blistered, then swollen open began to pulse angrily. Krog began to wonder if ever forcing himself conscious was a good idea or not.

'Come' came another brittle toned voice, this one hoarse and low, yet rich with something Krog couldn't pin. 'Set him on that cloth, there.' There was a finger, pruned and sore that pointed helplessly (or so it seemed) towards a purple colored, square cloth splayed on the dirt floor. The elder man sat with his back to the men, and never shifted the rest of his body, only his arm and finger. Krog was dragged over and plopped on this fabric, his teeth baring and his eyes widening with the same rage and instinct he felt before. 'Now,' came the voice again, and with it came a soothing vibration that seemed to ease Krogs worries. 'Untie him.'
'Excuse me, Huntoaa'sh, but we are handling a wolf here, not a bird. It is one thing to untie a bird but another to untie a wolf. He will surely kill us all!' the first man, the bald one, spoke hurriedly and gestured with his hands at the wolf. The elder man, whose hair was pale white and long, tied with some leather, nodded. The second man who had carried Krog too showed his fear. 'Huntoaa'sh, we can not do what you ask of us--' 'What has your leader told you to do?' questioned the elder man with white hair softly. The men stayed silent. 'Welllll' came the voice, brittle as ever, as if you could break it with your pinkies. 'What has your leader instructed you to do?' 'Bring the wolf to you, you shall--' 'I know what I shall do, now you must do what I tell you.' snapped the man, his back still facing the men. They staggered, weary of Krogs jaws, but untied him nonetheless. Jumping back towards the flap of the entrance, they breathed. Krog was still lying on the ground, yet on his belly rather then his side, his eyes looking around in bewilderment, yet fear and anger still stung the core. 'Now, leave.'
'Huntoaa'sh, we can not! You shall surely--' 'LEAVE.' Huntoaa'sh's voice cracked, and with this he coughed upsettingly. The two men approached and each grabbed at Huntoaa'sh's arms, but he pushed away. 'Oh leave me be, go you two, get out of my hunt!' and with that, the two men fled, their bodies calm while exiting the room, but ecstatic with fear when outside it.

Huntoaa'sh sat still for a long moment, and now that Krog was able to at least shift his body slightly, though still too weak to stand, he made an attempt to sneak a peek at the mans face. 'You, what is your name.' Krog sat silently, unable to understand what he was saying. 'Answer me boy. You need not feel scared.' Krog wondered if the two-legged actually thought he would know what he was saying, eyes fixed on the long pipe that extended from the mans lips, smoke drifting from the top. 'Well.' he muttered, his hand flicking back to where it exposed his long, yellow finger nails and silver rings. 'If you wont speak to me, then leave.' At this, he turned about, his face apparent to Krog in all its colors. His eyes were silver and wide, he didn?t look at Krog, but around him, as if he couldn?t see the black hound in the room, his cheeks were thin and wrinkled and his hair was white. There were colored beads dangling in his wired follicles and as he looked to Krog, his lips were parted and appeared, to Krog, as if he would drool a thick bundle of saliva all over the dirt floor. Krog wrinkled his nose, but found it difficult to tense up in the presence of this man, no matter how harsh his tone may sound.

The man grabbed at a cane, dragging it over to where it sat right in front of him, and pushed upwards to stand. His wardrobe was of dark, dim colors. Mainly purple and black and deep reds. His body stood hunched, both hands clutching the top of his cane. 'I said' his voice trailed, 'Leave.' Krog wrinkled his nose and curiously shook his head. He wasn't all sure how, but he had a feeling the man wanted him gone, yet he didn't want to leave. It wasn't all that strange of course, being that Krog had no where to run to or run with. He had lost his only friend and was left lonesome in a world so new to him. His fur stood on end as the man swiveled to gaze at him. No words were said, but the wrinkle in the elder's face seemed to say it all and he released another, haggard cough. After clearing his throat, he hobbled over to a stand where he took a bowl and a rag like cloth, carrying it towards Krog. Instinctively the male wolf forced his body to rest on his rump, giving the man room to fall to his knee's and place the bowl and towel down. He was silent and slow, working masterfully at the paint within the clay interior. Krog was curious, but fearful all at once and craned his neck slightly to peer over the mans shoulder.

Huntoaa'sh grumbled, feeling the heated presence of the black males body looming over him, and shot a gaze at Krog that instantaneously caused him to lean back. It took no longer then a few more minutes with the mixture for the elder man gradually brought the bowl into the air, and shut his eyes, mouth opened agape and twitching, as if speaking to himself. Krog watched, baffled and terrified. His teenage mind not coherently gathering the information as it should, he supposed. Within a moment though the man looked to Krog, the bowl lowering slowly to were it rest comfortably in the mans hands near his lap. He smiled, hacking a few cough like chuckles before placing the bowl down and dipping his hand in its liquid. The paint barely rushed over his hand, only leaving a surface touch of blue that neither dripped nor appeared runny. He then looked to Krog, not exactly looking at him, but looking in his general direction. 'Listen here boy, don't you fumble.' He shut his eyes, body cooling in temperature and feeling, and tapped into Krogs mind-set.

It was an odd sensation, having the man's body move in him, even when Krog knew he wasn't actually. He felt instant pressure, his own eyes shutting and his ears flapping back. There was a rush of pain, scolding of sorts that brought him to rest on his belly, putting his head in-between his front limbs, preparing to wrap his paws over his muzzle. He winced more then once, darkness closing in on his vision and mind and body as a whole. He whined, but a coaxing word whispered into his ear, as if it were in his head. 'Relax--' the voice hissed like the old mans, but he knew all to well it couldn't be, and instead chose to follow the anonyms voice by relaxing.

Don't worry Huntoaa'sh, he's calmed. He will not harm you nowww.... whispered a voice in the elder Shamans head as he lifted his hand from the paint, eyes still loosely shut, and followed the gentle sounds of breaths to the male wolfs head. His other hand worked the side of Krogs neck, feeling his thick fur run down towards his neck. He smiled, and grabbed a chunk of Krogs fur, holding it firmly in his hand, and palmed the males head, stamping a blue hand print in his fur. Krog continued feel the presence of another, but couldn't make out the image. There was a dancing figure, a calming one, and he breathed in heavily when his fur was grabbed, but shook it off by extending his talons into the cloth beneath him. The shamans hands moved away, his eyes opening as he broke the contact between the two, and shuddered slightly, taking in a gasp of air before shaking his head and grasping onto the towel he had brought along. He then looked towards Krogs body, or at least where he knew Krog was, and felt for his head, tapping the space between the male wolfs eyes and smiling. There was no moisture, the paint had dried, and would stay for good.

Krog shuddered as well, feeling the pressure immerse from within his mind and body as a whole. Shaking his head, he awoke, brilliant blue eyes shinning dully in the dying light. He felt so dreamy, so airy, as if nothing ever bothered him before. His body felt cleansed in every way possible and even the painful memory of Termite was but a glimpse of a brutal past, he looked to the Shaman, his tail thumping the dry earth happily. This man, the second human to whom Krog set eyes on, had shown the most kindness then any other creature before. Even Termite never gave Krog this feeling. His tongue slowly pushed out from his jaws, lounging at the side of his lower jaw, and he prepared to let out a bark of approval but was interrupted by a harsh stroke with yet another hand. This time, the pain was even more grotesque for the mans rings had jabbed into his cheek as well as the hard, boney knuckles. Krog grunted, whined, and then fell to his side once more. Breathing was staggered, but he wasn't knocked out. He could hear the mans voice call out to the tribe, and yet again the two goons came to speak with Huntoaa'sh, followed by the first man, the tribe leader, K'kabuka.

'He shall be made to fight in twelve-weeks. Be prepared on this day, when the sun gives the earth an eerie glow, signifying Day-break, with the tribe of Water's mound. They shall bring Zuzi, their largest female, to fight this here boy.' spoke the Shaman elder, and silently looked towards the fire, his eyes capable of seeing the flames shadows which in turn gave him the answers he needed. 'And what shall we call this boy, Huntoaa'sh?' spoke K'Kabuka, his hands clasping together while he hunched over slightly.

Huntoaa'sh gave the air a whiff, and shut his eyes briefly, the room silencing for a moment. The shaman was lost to his world with his element the only other speaker about. What shall I name him? His name is Krog, Huntoaa'sh, name him that. But, don't we wish to cause him pain? He shall be our strongest warrior! We must show him pain! Huntoaa'sh, are you defying my whim? Name him Krog. DO IT. Now. Huntoaa'sh winced, his hands clasping across his chest so they grabbed at both arms and shuddered, before fluttering his eyes open and staring down to the fire. 'His name--shall be Gui.' A grin of satisfaction spread across his lips, the feeling of liberty and freedom reigning over his body. The grin sparkled in the fire as K'kabuka and the two men stared, silent, waiting; as did Krog.

Huntoaa'sh you've shown defiance! You shall pay for you're misjudgment!
