I've been playing recently with a friend online. Even though the game is quite old, its still really fun. Right now we are training to beat the Prismic Dragon. Its hella hard. Its basically immune to everything. eek If anyone wants to join in when we play, feel free to pm me for details. surprised

Sorc/Red Dragon Disciple

Does anyone still play this game? Anyone excited for the new NWN? I am, I hear you can port your old characters to the new game. whee

I picked up a copy of the platinum edda (also scored a copy of the kingmaker expasnsion). Sure the gameplay in NWN is pretty nice (there are a few points where I got stuck, thank the magic gremlins for console commands and hex editors), but I was over the Aurura engine 5 minutes after I saw it. Reading through the manual, geepers, they claim to be a DnD game and thy can't even get the spells and stats right. I guess all the errors kinda ruined it for me. Even though it has nice playability.

Hopefully the sooped up engine in NWN2 (gods they've been harping on that for ages) will be a lot better than in NWN. We shall see.

I haven't played NWN before, but I'm playing Baldur's Gate 2 currently. My boyfriend and his sister say that NWN isn't as good as Baldur's Gate, but they own NSN as well so maybe I'll try it some time. smile

I have it, but I haven't played it in a while! It doesn't have the lovely art Baldur's Gate II did, and I'm disappointed in that. I also miss having an actual party.

I understand we get to have a real party in NWN2, not just henchmen, but alas, my computer won't be able to support it. cry

I agree. The art on the background and items (I love how the gems are all different!), the storyline, the voice acting... considerably better in BGII. The villain in BGII is voiceacted by David Warner, a veteran actor, and he does a bang-up job!

I've been wanting to pick it up, but after this thread, I'm thinking I should ask for alternative recommendations??

I'd like to get this game but the mac prices take the piss (from what I've seen - only briefly looked around) considering how old the game is.

Well it has a lot of expandability, and it's party function is very good. I'd reccomend Oblivion over NWN simply on looks and playability. But NWN's edge is the multiplayer functionality. I have only come across one mod for Oblivion that enables multiplay. And it frankly isn't good. You could wait till NWN2. But who knows when that'll be released.

I've heard of BGII but I haven't been able to find it. I would love to try it.
