Pshh. Van Morrison, hands down. Buble's version is definitely overproduced, and I absolutely adored that song before I heard his version. The little touches here and there, like the flute fills, make Van Morrison's version a lot better.

What you have to remember is that "Moondance" was track two of Michael Buble's debut album. Listen to his work now, and the difference is just glaring. I heard him do the song again at a concert and it's far, far better.
And Buble was raised on the likes of Sinatra, so he's going to bring that Sinatra-esque feel to just about everything. (example: "A Foggy Day (In London Town)"--he sounds like a young Sinatra.)
It's just like other remakes--the artist is going to bring their feel to the table. They're going to put their spin on it. Take Jamie Cullum, for example.
Therefore, it's not exactly fair to compare them in that aspect.

I like both versions of the song, but I tend to favor Micheal Buble's.
But I agree with Sayuri Akanji verbatim.

I actually like Van Morrison's version better than Buble's. Buble was too mellow and smooth for me, and Morrison seemed stronger and more fiery.

It's pretty refreshing, especially compared to who else you might hear these days.
