I don't really think Kaworu's gay. I'm going more with Yuri_shoujo's theory here, but I'd be a ******** liar if I said they weren't "cute" together.

I like kawaru and rei together and asuka and shinji but I think he loved shinji in a different way a caring way not that I have anything against gays I love gay people not that I am... STOP IT!!!!

I'm really not sure if Kaoru was actually in love with Shinji, but it sure seemed like it. I think it's terribly cute and sexy, so I don't really care in the first place. I think it's a good thing.

I have come across this topic a few times and boy does it aggrovate me. So many close minded people with their own opinions. But that's what the world always is.
And here's my close minded opinion...
What does it matter if Kaoru and/or Shinji are "gay" or not. Does sexuality really mean that much? Does love only mean OMG! THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE SEX BECAUSE HE SOUNDS GAY!
There are so many different levels of love, it can be expressed in so many different ways, with so many different people.
To me, the first time i saw Neon Genesis episode 24, i thought it was so beautiful. As far as i could see it didn't ******** matter what sexuality anyone was. We could all be androgynous, we could all be the same sex, it didn't ******** matter because when you truly love someone sex does. not. matter. People get bored of sex and then what? The relationship is screwed without being able to communicate.
When i first saw episode 24 the thought of the two characters both being male didn't even ocur to me. The thought of finally Shinji is being shown the meaning and expressions of what love really can be, that it is possible for someone to love him whether it be mother, father, brother, partner, child, etc... it was just beautiful and what Shinji deserved. Hence the irony, hence the tears.

well Kaworu image in the eva movie "The end of evangelion" rei uses Kaworu image to calm down shinji as seen here  now there not gay, just that shinji related to Kaworu and they have a bond they share. they never done anything sexual or related to it. so you cannot claim there gay , as shinji has feelings for asuka but doesnt show it til the very end of the movie
