Oh no not at all. I'm working on BST now (its only lvl 22 heehee) but when friends come and PL they take hate from my pet, which means my pet doesn't die, which means I get a 30% exp gimp.
Plus bst being a solo job you really need to learn how to make it work for yourself, otherwise you only have yourself to blame haw haw.

I think PL's are good in some situations but not always.
If players AlWAYS have a PL they arent going to learn how to play the job properly. I tend to prefer PL's when its more of a one on one sort of thing. Just the person soloing with a PL to help out. My fiance PL's some of my lower jobs sometimes, (I would like to think i've got a pretty good handle on the basic mechanics of the game, been playing for over 2 years now) But when he PL's, he stands back and watches and I do my thing, and he only tosses a cure my way or helps out when i absolutely need it. That way i get a feel for the specifics of the job. And i do the same thing whenever i PL anyone.

I used to be more against PLs in every situation but having to start all over again on a new character, i found that a PL could be extremly helpful, especially since i was essentially leveling the same jobs over again, so i already knew how to play them.

I've seen some very poor players because of PL's but i think when done properly (even in a party setting) people can learn they're job and take advantage of the bit speedier XP that having a PL provides.

And regardless of wether a person gets PLed or not, some of them are just going to be bad players. PLing makes it worse but not PLing isnt going to solve the problem.
