I think it depends on the person whether it would be best for them to go to a BYU, or other school. Some environments are just better for certain people. I'm currently going to a community college before I go any where else so I can figure out what I want to do before I start spending a whole bunch of money on classes that I could just easily take in a community college.
I'm not sure where I will go from here, all my sisters graduated from BYU, but that may not be the best school for what I want to major in, so I'm going to shop around, so to speak.

fyi: the grades people get at a community/junior college are alot of times inversely related to the grades you get at a university--(because if you get A's at a CC or JC, you're competing against people who don't really want to compete, but at a university.....you're usually competing against competers) ....i don't think you should HAVE to compete with classmates to get a good grade, but that's how it is, especially when the professors grade on curves....
what do you want to major in?
Very true. Because my dad's grades weren't the best in HS, he went to a community college. He got really good grades then went into BYU. My experience at BYUI though is that they tend to grade like they do in HS, on your own merit. I had a PE teacher tell us that he didn't care if he got yelled at, he'd give us all A's if we all deserved it. My Psychology teacher's idea of grading on a curve was adding ten points to everyone's test score because most people did badly. I always did fairly well, so my grade was up-ed to a high A every time! Yeah, I liked the curve. I never had a teacher drop my grade because of it though. The perks of a mormon school. heart Of course, BYU may be different. I dunno, I never went there.
