I would love to find a chart of The Preacher. I just heard it on the radio again a couple days ago. I've had it in my head since.

It's got such a simple but quirky head.

*twich* we had to play that for an audition piece to get into the All State Jazz Band... I thought it was sooo lame
BUT it was a one person song so maybe its funer with a whole group

we had a chart of Yoko Kanno's "Tank!" that sounded sweet. Spain is always good, and Ive played on a chart of Tower of Power's "Soul Vaccination" that was groovy as hell.

That was the audition chart for All-State band? O_o
I cant remember what the charts were when i was in highschool but they were much harder cuz my state has too many good highschool jazzbands >.<

my funk band is working on "Soul Vaccination" and i love it! i'm in this big band and i'm also playing "Spain" in a big band, the version that's from the album Light As A Feather; i love that one too, cool rhythms.

Moonlight in Vermont
Yardbird Suite
Fifth of Beethoven (funk)
Route 66
GROOVIN' HARD
A Charlie Brown Christmas (haha...it's such a great xmas arrangement)
Take Five
C-Jam Blues

and tons more...but those are the most memorable in my book biggrin

John Handy — alto sax
Booker Ervin — tenor sax
Shafi Hadi — tenor sax
Willie Dennis — trombone
Jimmy Knepper — trombone
Horace Parlan — piano
Charles Mingus — bass, piano
Dannie Richmond — drums

I like alot of them but thats just naming one that comes to mind.
