Okay, how bout this? I heard one my friends talking about how stupid Green Day is for calling AI a "rock opera". Basically, he goes on to say that it's not that and blah, blah, blah. Obviously, he doesn't know what an opera is, a story told through song. And that's exactly what AI is! What do you guys think?

animepunkie4ever Ya know, I used to really hate it until I sat down and thought about it. It is definitely not their greatest album, I agree. But if you actually listen to the individual songs, it's not that horrible. Sure, it's really popular and there's a lot of AI/BOBD/Holiday fans out there, but that doesn't necessarily make it a bad album. It's neat how it tells a story and stuff. I'd, of course, prefer nimrod over AI, but that doesn't make it bad. I'd prefer nimrod over Insomniac, too.
*shrug* I dunno...I'm just a tired, absent-minded blonde...don't mine me. I totally agree with you. AI isn't all that bad, I mean I own the album and listen to it all the time, but I would much prefer to listen to Nimrod. I'm doing that right now actually 3nodding

What do you guys think? green day didnt call it that, it was the reviewers who compared to it tommy by the who which has always been known as a rock opera.

It's ok. I mean there's some songs that are good, i like Homecoming and She's a Rebel, I just prefer some other albums more, like Warning and Dookie.

I get hated for this ehere and at school.
But it is thier worst album, and I hate it dearly. I hate Green day's new change. I think it's a sellout, prep trend MTV follower album, I hate it. I don't give a s**t if it's popular or not, I refuse to progress with Green day because of it, I will only care about stuff pre-AI. I would rather waste my money on a Simple Plan album -shivers-.
It sounds harsh, but that's my opinion.

I understand its hard to accept the change, and BELIEVE me.......I'm a pretty devout fan, and overall, I was disappointed.... At first..... But after I bought the Album....I listened to the whole thing and I realised; sure, it's not the same Green Day I knew, But I like it.....a lot... I think it's a great album.... I wouldn't compare it w/ Dookie, Isomniac,Warning, Nimrod, etc., but I would say its the best album of its genre..... (I still hope they'll do some more of their old-type-stuff too) So guys......can you please give them a break? sweatdrop It's hard for them to please everyone.....its hard to worry about fans you'll gain/lose over an album...... Sure AI was really popular......but is that really a bad thing? Think about it....... And if you refuse to listen to Green Day b/c of AI, Karu_chan, That's your loss...... I agree w/ you, and I like that style.....It's interesting and I think it's very cool. Thank you for being Open-minded to AI, instead of bashing it like other ppl do, just b/c it's popular.... 3nodding most people are open-minded but that doesnt mean you have to like, it just isnt of the quailty that we've come to enjoy with albums like nimrod. There are some good songs on it but over half are just dull and lyrically quite poor compared to previous work.

Peeko Napdyn There are so many people that say American Idiot is Green Day's worst album, but I disagree. It's not my favorite album, but it's still really good. People are just bent out of shape because it became so popular. What do you think? In my opinion it is their worst album, the doesnt mean its bad, just that i like all the other albums better. agreed....everyone was saying how it was the best album ever....and i was just expecting so much more.....i guess i was just disappointed with it....

American Idiot would probably be the worse of all of their albums, but it's still a good album. 3nodding To ME, that is... sweatdrop

And liked the poserish attention, thats pretty much what they say in interviews, just not so vividly, I don't mind change. Just not a crappy change.
