-According to The Zombie Survival Guide, Zombification is caused by a virus known as
Solanum. It is not found in any flora and fauna as of yet, so its source is unknown.
-Also according to the handbook it is 100% communicable and 100% fatal.
-The book lists supposed records and findings of zombies and the virus that causes them dating back to 60,000 BC.
Here's a piece of advice. The guy who wrote the Zombie Survival Guide (Max Brooks) is not somebody you want to listen to. He sounds smart, but he talks out of his a**. I used to be a big fan of his work until I stopped, thought for a second, and realized he doesn't make much sense. His handbook is a great piece of fiction, and pretty creative, but there is no way it's realistic, and a lot of his advice is badly flawed.
Zombies, if anything, would be more like those in 28 Days/Weeks Later or I Am Legend than anything else. Zombies would need to be fast moving and strong, or humans would have no problem killing them all quickly. Sure, slow moaners would cause much death and panic at first, but once people figured out to shoot the head, military and law enforcement would have no problem containing and eliminating any outbreak. Furthermore, zombies would have to retain bodily function (such as heart beat) in order to function (This assumes disease zombies. Magic zombies are another issue). Max Brook's explanation doesn't cut it unless magic is somehow involved. All functioning creatures need an energy source, per the basic laws of biology.
