During my entire high school years, I was nagging my mother, asking her to get me a driver's license. Since my mom's family lives in a smaller city not far away from Guadalajara, and since pretty much anybody can drive here in Mexico, we decided I should get my driver's license there.
But the first time she allowed me to use it, was on my first college day. She just said: "Drive your way to school", and that's it. I've been happily driving my car ever since.
Though there's something interesting there. Turns out that my obsession is with American cars, especially any Pontiac car from before 2005... and it turns out that I drive a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire... needless to say, I drive down the winding road that stands between my house and the city like I was driving the AE86 Sprinter Trueno from Initial D, and I've stepped on it all the way to the 176 km/h, which is my car's maximum speed... three times... one of them during the day.

Around here, you don't need a permit to drive, you can practice driving with an adult driver (25 or older) once you're 15 1/2. There are restrictions as to driving alone or how many passengers you can have for several months after getting the license, if you are under 18, however.
Eh? Where do you live, girl?
