All of us who read the book know that Gaston Leroux is bent on proving to us
the phantom did at one point exist, he even had the persian write a four
chapter narrative, detailing his experience with the torture chamber housed in Erik's apartment.
I am thoroughly convinced Erik was mad and that Gaston Lerox is mad with truth.
Both equally mad, for different reasons of course.
